I think you should add a floating fountain/aerator or 2 with lights. Beautiful look at night and extremely functional for the health of the pond also. Also, add some more structure for the bait fish to survive and breed. Add a load of pea gravel around the banks for the perch to be able to spawn easier also.
It's all very well putting a ton of baitfish in but if they don't have enough to eat they won't breed and subsequently the bass won't get enough to eat. It's not called a food chain for nothing.
LOJO, your videos helped get me through a tough time last year. Thank you for having that good positive energy. Sometimes things help people that you would never realize, you got me back out there fishing and enjoying life! Have a good one brother!
The same thing happened for me too! I still remember the first video I ever saw it was Lojo, Norm and Ayo wearing the floating shoes from Ali Babba I think that’s where they came from . I watched every video from all 3 guys then found the Googan Squad channel. I’ve learned a lot and have been entertained for sure!
@@lojofishinghi LoJo same here. My 2nd marriage cost me a lot of $. I have never been I debt In my life . I am like$50k in the hole and I am totally depressed over it.. your videos are my escape … I just wish I could dig out of this and start fishing again!
you might think about adding some cattails &/or reeds to one side of the pond, it'll give cover for fry to hide & grow. pond lillies would work too if they'll survive up there. with the plants come aquatic insects giving the small fish more food and breeding spots. another thing would be to sink a few old tires filled with gravel to help the bream spawning. just an idea. good luck & keep up the good work!!
Couple boulders couldn't hurt. Someone else mentioned cattails and Lillie's for shade. Even cheaper than that maybe just add some wood like blowdown or something.
maybe build a msall dock that it self is cover for all kinds of fish plus it gives you something to reach further out to the middle . maybe add some big catfish as well but for now the pond looks so much better with the boats out . at least the new fish will have a few days maybe to get use to there new home before the big boys go hunting for the little ones to eat , cant wait to see the micro pond again and how it is holding up , later lojo awesome restock .
I'm going to give some advice. Take it as you will. Stocking in the peak of summer is the worst time to stock. It doesn't give your bait fish anytime to reproduce and 50 to 75% will die off. Stock in the fall when the water is really cold so they don't die or all getting eating and then in the spring time stock again before the water temp reaches 60° and flathead minnows are the best because they don't spot reproduceing.
Put a pump in the coldest part. Ariat the pond. Can get a solar powered one. Make a floating power system from a plastic dock. Solar attached to the pump. Keep water moving and cooler
An aerator would help your pond a lot. Be careful with too much fertilizer. You could get a massive bloom of alge and have to get some Tulapia to eat the alge
"Too many bass and not enough water" sounds like a video idea honestly can we see a catch n' cook video? Bring Ayo and Norm in for a day and help grow the monsters.
This is awesome, love learning about how you care for the pond. I heard about using dye to prevent vegetation growth for the ponds. So maybe that’s one reason of the color, would be Interesting to see if your pond color changes with that.
Man that’s a great start on pond have ya thought about planting some weeping willows around pond to add some shade for fish to get in .. 👍👍👍 Yall stay safe and Keep’em coming
OMG this is awesome and amazing best week of all time 3 new videos in one week thank you LOJO wonderful job and keep up the great work and putting out the banger videos that you keep doing. Enjoy every single minute of them.
That was hilarious and informational glad to see more bait fish in their but wish they were bigger amazing video as always I can't wait for the next one the fertilizer is for water claerity and growth of plants
Temperatures there are like here in Tx . If I'm not mistaken there may not even be a thermocline depending how deep the pond is . I've seen in our lake here in central Tx using depthfinder to find the depth of the thermocline be as deep as 15 to 22 feet. I wouldn't be surprised as hot as this summer has been it being deeper . Can't confirm that no longer have my boat !
Good ponds, just like a nice yard, don't just happen - they take some work. I've always been a fan of 'eaters-over-trophies' for my ponds. I'll tend to have a massive population of smaller species like your bluegills and crappies with just a few large predators. I'm just lucky that here in Oz our preferred freshwater trophies are species like barramundi, which also taste great. So I can have a pond full of fun to catch & cook pan-sized perch that also supply food for a predator that can reach 5 feet in length. In a pond the size of yours, I'd stock about 30-50 barramundi about 6-10 inches long (6 months old) and within another year they'll be 20 inches long and about 6-8 pounds without supplementary feeding. Look into a solar-powered aerator, fountain or paddle wheel for oxygenation of the water. It'd probably be best over toward where the spring feeds in. As temperature rises, dissovled oxygen content drops. The best way to add disolved oxygen is through surface agitation.
Loving the new/old school lojo vids. Wasnt too much of a fan of the boyband content but i watched to show my support. So glad to see you doing well man, you look healthy and happy. Love to see it.
I would never shy away from adding some minnows. My pond was 1/2 your size and 25ft deep at the middle. I added 250 smallie, 250 lg mouth, 500 sunfish or crappy(cant remember) and 5,000 flathead. I added an additional 10,000 2-3 months later and 5 catfish. I never stocked it again with anything and it was a feeding frenzy by every species, each doing their part for the ecosystem. At any time you could fish it and catch monster bass, fat and healthy and see the schools of minnows all around and splitting to deeper water when they saw you. My whole point in that ramble is if the balance is correct, each species should support the others. I'm also in Michigan, so our weather obviously isn't cooking the pond like your climate is...lol
I’m just getting into the UA-cam fishing scene and making videos but I’ve been watching lojo for along time an hes definitely one of my FAVORITE UA-cam anglers much love for him an his family an channel❤
Sup lojo, your awesome bro 👊, good move no minnows, wait for time do crawfish, hard in heatwave, next wire and build a makeshift hot tub in pond, a permanent grill and picnic table, family spot, fish from hot tub lol. Tyvm tc 🎣
I think lojo figured out why I never fish a off set shallower worm hook with a stick bait and why Gary Yamamoto recommends a 3/0 to 4/0 ewg worm hook with stick baits lol. 1 for 4 is evidence why not to use those hooks and if you go bigger to get a wide enough gap you kill the action of the stick bait.
What happened to the Small excavator that you got? If I remember correctly you bought one. Take that thing out and clean up the boat ramp also in the little pond that would have come in handy.
Have you considered feeding the bass fresh water prawn, they grow quickly and do not dig into the mix like crawfish do compromising the pond liner if clay bottom.
next time lay a piece of plywood down on your motorized dock/boat your using and put fertilizer on it and use a backpack blower and blow the fertilizer all over the pond it will disperse it much better. we do it with a modified pontoon boat on large pond
Might be hard to get the truck over there, but what about stocking back in the protected area you set up? Might get them more a chance to find the protected breading area quicker. This is a straight up guess, Because of the heat I bet all the pond went nuts at dusk or more dawn when the water cooled just a degree or 2
What should we do to the pond next??
You, should make a fishing dock with a shade over it for hot southern days
You should invite me down to catch my pb there lmao
I love you 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Fountain. 1000% love these videos.
Maybe add a fountain? Help get some movement to your water and oxygenate it.
I’d work on planting some trees that will survive on the waters edge so they can grow and shade the pond. Maybe it won’t get so hot in the summer.
I think you should add a floating fountain/aerator or 2 with lights. Beautiful look at night and extremely functional for the health of the pond also.
Also, add some more structure for the bait fish to survive and breed. Add a load of pea gravel around the banks for the perch to be able to spawn easier also.
The pond is spring fed
great ideas!!
Solar powered pump too if you can

How much would you recommend stocking in a pond that size?
@@amateurhourfishing4345 I wouldn't stock it without having it surveyed.
@@amateurhourfishing4345 a pond that size at least 5,000 plus
Probably be best to stock it every 2-3 weeks or 1 month to be safe
It’s easy to feed baitfish.

theres gotta be some old tires in there already from Norm and Ayo
I do hope the pond gets kept up with on video, its fun to watch, and live through them.
Need more rock structure so when your gills does spawn they’ll have more places to hide

i know youre primarily a fishing channel, but your land and pond management videos are my favotite.
thank you for staying true to youtube fishing and actually going fishing and doing fishing related stuff
Bamabass on UA-cam did a 5 acre pond build, and does a great job explaining why to fertilize your pond.
With bluegill/sunfish spawning up to 5 times a year 3000 is a great start💯💯💯
Keep the content coming, lojo. I'm looking forward to new videos all the time, and you don't disappoint.

Let's go LOJO! So ready to see your pound back to it's one's Greatness
I have a question, if you have a spring/creek fed pond.. what is stopping all those bait fish from swimming off?
Keep up the awesome videos and working on the pond! Hard work pays off! ;)
Hope for cooler weather or it’s gonna be a long day tournament fishing. Good Luck !!
You should sink a old car body in the pond! It is not only great structure for bass it also makes good content.😁🐟
You need to put an aerator in your pond also. Will help with keeping it cooler especially if you can put it where the spring come out.
@CLICKONPROFILE889 I doubt it

Tilapia would be a good fish for stocking your pond
Need to put some sand in there or small pebbles in there for all the perch for making beds.
Before 2000, “stick baits” were called “Nightcrawlers”.
Because they were worms you dig out of the ground.
Pond idea with all this heat!!! Time to plan and plant some natural shade trees, or see what’s buildable lol
Great vid LOJO love to see u making some improvements and continuing to insure the quality of your bass and bait fish ! keep up the good work man 🤙🏼

Where are you're videos?
I think you should consider Aerating your pond with this heat. My neighbor’s pond turned over 3 years ago and he had a massive fish kill.
I been waiting on this video forever 🫡
The green on the fertilizer is probably something such as Agritain, a nitrogen stabilizer widely used in agriculture.
Lojo you should add crappies!. Crappies would be a great bait fish for the bass and catfish and fun to catch!!!
Keep up the awesome content Lojo!
You can put threadfin shad or a golden shiner in there and the bass will be giant

Have you considered feeding the bass fresh water prawn, they grow quickly and do not dig into the mix like crawfish do compromising the pond liner if clay bottom.
You should see about adding a water fountain to the pond
You need to get yourself a feeder for all the bait fish so they grow and multiply.
You should do this all the time all the time
Brush piles for the gills and bass
Another PURE AWESOMENESS man
Lojo always delivers to us w mans
Its a possibility that the soil becomes very loose during excessive rain causing the ground to crumble and collapse so the lake gets bigger
Damn pat macaffe has a bad ass pond
The best thing you can do is take as many of the stunted bass out and cook them then the bass that get left in the pond will be able to grow faster
Probably it will be safer to fish with barbless hook 🪝 to protect your fish bro 😎
