No pull for high beams 😢 I really love that movement for a certain reason, even more than indicators which I accommodated easily while high beams for fast driving is crucial. I know the side button can be mapped to high beams but the pulling movement is such a satisfying feeling
Ordered and can't wait! Looks as though they will be the perfect "ad-on" to the S3XY Knob and buttons which I love already. I can cope with the steering wheel buttons but have to take a hand off the steering wheel from my normal position to do anything, which is stupid when stalks work perfectly well.
Thank you for your trust ! Since you already have our gen2 Commander, we hope you have pre-ordered the stalks without one , since all 3 accessories can work together 🙂
Can it be removed again without leaving residu? Can it be reinstalled in another car then (is the tape made for reuse)? Is the 3m tape the same as the buttons (or at least similar in properties)?
It looks like conventional 3M VHB Tape that is cut to size. You can get replacement VHB tape from a local hardware store, it just won't be custom-cut like the original parts.
The adhesive is not the same as the one on the buttons. It's supposed to be stronger so that when you put the stalk on the steering wheel column where it belongs, it remains sturdy to keep in place. You can remove it, but over time that would weaken the adhesive.
Consider adding additional buttons on the front and back of the stalks, these would allow for reproduction of a push/pull action without the stalk having to move. If the buttons had a longer travel distance it would feel like the stalk was moving when it wasn’t.
I think you misunderstood the reasoning behind it. They deemed the push/pull mechanism to be too much of an impact on the sturdiness of the product, which is why they removed it from their initial concepts. A button doesn't negate the fact that you're still performing a certain push/pull strength on the stalk. The only way to prevent that is to hold the stalk between thumb a one or more fingers and then press the button with let's say your finger. That way your thumb is providing the necessary support. Now of course it wouldn't fall off after once or twice, but pushing/pulling is a stronger motion than up/down on the stalk. So it's a way of both protecting their credibility as a company and protecting heavy handed customers against themselves. Either way, if it's really something you would need, you shouldn't have bought a stalkless Tesla in the first place.
If we do that, we need to make the base of the Stalk 30% thicker, which will make it look so ugly and definitely not OEM. As we have shown in our previous video , we had to re design it completely, so it fits the Model 3, S and X well. Otherwise they will stick out and look silly
@@Moody_Blues_ thanks! That makes sense. Was just wondering if there might be a way around it. I don’t need the stalks as I’m used to the indicator buttons now, I could definitely do with the some sexy buttons though!
I ordered the day it came out. I hate the Highland 3P turn signal button. Currently I have the S3XY buttons, I have 2 on the dash and I put the other 2 into a 3D printed turn signal stalk I remixed from a design I saw online for the X model. It's functional and it works, but it's not as elegant as your stalks and the angle isn't perfect so I'm looking forward to getting this. Right now you are claiming a February delivery date, is that still accurate? I'm finding that lots of companies promise delivery dates on not-yet-released products and more often than not delays occur.
First of all, thank you for the support, Jonathan! We also can't wait to hear from you and your experience with the Stalks when you get them. The info on the website is accurate, and any changes that may occur will be reflected there.
@@EnhanceAuto-S3XY_Gadgets Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to trying them out, as well as freeing up the 2 buttons I used in my 3D printed temporary turn signal to be able to use for more functions. Any chance you'll be able to incorporate a homelink garage door opener activation or toggle button in the S3XY or stalk functions? That's the biggest pain in the neck I have with the touchscreen, when I need to manually open my garage door or gate or when I need to override it when I approach and don't want to open the door/gate automatically.
Just pull it off with a modest amount of force, and clean the residue with Isopropanol. this is 3M VHB foam tape so provided you don't yank the crap out of it it's easy to remove
The adhesive strength at 25C is 100% but at 100C it's around 80% so it's easier to peel it off if you warm it. 50% strength will be enough to overcome the pressure needed to pull or push the stalk without falling off. Does this answer your question?
Hello, This is a wonderful development. You have a lot of imagination. Suggestion: for Teslas from 2021 for example, would it not be possible to activate the pedestrian warning permanently because we already have the wiring and thus improve safety. The pedestrian warning is activated automatically each time the EV is initialized but this activation disappears as soon as it goes into standby. If you could activate this option permanently using a "command" function, this would allow us better safety for our EVs. Thank you for your answer.
Love the stalk concept, already preordered! When attaching 2 stalks, any way to make it look more integrated rather than having 2 separate stuck on attachments? Especially with a yoke steering, the stalks will be visible a lot more than on a round steering wheel.
Will there be a new commander coming out that allows for more than 8 functions (so we can add high beam control to a stock and windshield controls, etc)? Or will the functions we assign to the stocks take away from the options we have already selected to our sexy buttons?
A very important question is... Can you ensure that it does not void the official TESLA warranty? It is possible that if I take my car to the official TESLA workshop due to some electronic failure not related to the S3XY Stalks and they see it installed, they will void the warranty. I would need some official document in which TESLA agrees not to void the warranty by installing them. Thank you.
@ yes in the video you said it worked on a 2022 S with a yoke, but I wasn’t sure if that meant it worked with any S or X with no stalks, including those with a steering wheel instead of a yoke?
Why not mould the 2 stalk assemblies together with a connecting piece that fits over the top of the cowling? This would add more potential adhesive area to stick to the car, along with added strength and less flexing, which maybe would solve the 'pull towards' issue and allow for the traditional high beam flash function.
#1 not everyone wants both stalks. 35% of our pre orders are only for the left stalk so far. #2 some folks have screens or phone mounts installed at the top. We want them to keep their products , rather than having to choose what to keep #3 bigger pieces make the price higher. The production will cost more, the shipping will be more , and so on.
Not stalk related but, the autopilot where it adjusts the speed UP automatically. Is there a limitation that it can't reduce the speed when it's over the speed limit? Also I'd love to see a S3XY light, doesn't matter if it uses a bigger battery. But my Model X is way dark, especially with the dark interior, and the lights in the back are not enough.
Usually, when a company is trying to justify the lack of a standard functionality (like a silly 4-axis stalk movement in this case), they tend to indicate durability concerns/excuses as a main reason. They incorporate workarounds for missing features and turn them into highlights, while it's simply just cutting corners in manufacturing costs.. This is exactly how Tesla took the stalks away from us in the first place, and this is exactly what I'm noticing here. Don't be like Tesla, please. Moreover, I'd be extremelly disapointed if I spent my money on a "half product" today, just to find out in a few months that there's a full product being available, here or elsewhere.. So I hope you guys stick to your own design, which is indeed cool, just not for everyone. Btw. Appreciate your S3XY buttons, I love them! 😍
Love the products. I have a couple of questions: 1. Will there be any new release of a steering wheel phone mount? 2. Will the stalks be integrated into a steering wheel mount in the future? or 3. will a steering wheel mount be offered to secure the current stalks more securely/discreetly? TIA
We are looking into making a phone mount , but we have another project to finish before that. The phone mount will not be related to the stalks. They will both fit behind your steering wheel, but you can use them separately or together.
I personally would have preferred a hard-mount solution, similar to some of the other products on the market, but with the quality of Enhance's design and quality control. I feel like it's a missed opportunity, as there could have been a custom-fabricated housing that allowed for a phone mount or mini display - perhaps even integrated paddles - while forgoing the use of batteries.
After just 1 month my sexy buttons cut out from the back of the back of The steer wheel. The adesive band quality its not good... its not lasting... If The same problem Will be with the stalk... Its not ok
Sorry to hear that! As stated in the video, there are tens of thousands of users of the S3XY Buttons , and if the all had this issue we would know and fix it by now. After all, we produce only about 200 units each week, so changes can be made quickly. But the Stalk’s adhesive will be 5x stronger , due to the nature of how it will be used
Not a very elegant design, seems that ease of user installation was more of a priority. Not in my book, I dont care about tearing the steering column for OEM look.
What do you mean ? On every shot there was a text telling you that this is a pre production unit. Don’t forget that the stalks are on pre order. No one will have better plastic than ours
