That's what happens with greatness. When you are a great guitar player, you adapt to all environments. He can go from a bluesy jazz style to nu metal

B) Pretty sure Stone Sour is done
Slipknot is full of cool, interesting riffs (like the main riff in "Left Behind"), Jim adds a lot of groove into the music like the second verse riff in "All out Life" and they even bust out some crazy solo's when the song has room for it. That's the good thing about Slipknot, they chose when to unleash the guitar solo's instead of forcing them into everything.

Funny you say that, Mick was a guitar teacher and guitar maintenance man at ‘Ye old guitar shop’ in Iowa, to my knowledge up until just a few years ago. May still be doing it even.

Fun Fact: he played one of their tracks, A Liar’s Funeral off of We Are Not Your Kind a whole year before the album at 1:50. He had been holding the riff since Subliminal Versus and couldn’t find a song to fit it on until last year

Jim is such a unique guitar player. He is very well versed in multiple styles of music yet he plays in a band that if someone didnt know would blow their mind hehe. He is awesome!!!
All I can say after watching this a million times and loving every second of it, I want a record with Jim Root playing clean and low gain tones. His clean playing IMO is severely underrated.
I would buy an album of just Jim playing anything he could think of. His talent is far greater than what slipknot needs

Yeah they're real popular here in China a lot of guitarists are starting to use single coils for metal
Single coils are great to learn metal on. Make it heavy with tight playing and dynamics. Then put that on humbuckers and it becomes super heavy.

Kept wondering if he ended up getting one of these and saw him playing one at a show yesterday it was cool.
If you've never seen Slipknot live, do yourself a favor and do it. See that band. After being a fan for decades I finally got to see them this year and I couldn't believe how tight and clear their sound was. They are amazing.

I could listen to him play for hours, just messing around and playing whatever, and never get bored
I love Jim. My favorite guitar player. No he's not the world's best guitar player. Not even close. But he's a great dude and he shoves every ounce of feeling, heart and emotion he has into the strings when he plays. I've seen him live so many times and every time, every song is different than it was every other time and he has never once seemed to just be going through the motions. He's reinventing the song every time he plays it based upon who he is in that moment. He always sets a positive example. He's a role model I wouldn't mind my kids aspiring to one day be. Love him so much. One of my heroes for sure.

There is no best guitar player of all time imo. Everyone's good at something. Everyone excels at something that even the best may not. There's def good universal techniques. But personally, if I ever heard just Jim Root... I'd be satisfied.

I've liked it from day one because I'm a fan of crazy-shaped guitars - Gibson Explorer & Flying V, Carvin V220, Jackson Warrior & Rhaods, etc. - in general.
It's way nicer on film than it looked in the original pictures. I'd definitely get one if they end up making it more affordable/with different pickups

This is why i like Jim root so much, he's down to do some fun stuff like this. He also does some pretty great honest interviews too. He also does some cool stuff that no one knows about, making selfless donations to other players (sonny mayo for example) and making positive messages for you matter.
