You really can’t compare this kit with their later F-14, F-16 and F-18 kits. This kit is quite old, but still, IMHO, not a bad kit. Luv your work mate! 😊
This kit was all new in 2016-7. It bears no relation to the earlier F-15s they did. It is my favourite 72nd Strike Eagle kit, more accurate and easier to build than the GWH kit. The only real criticism is the F100 nozzles (the F110 nozzles are pretty nice) and the one piece canopy. Just a fabulous model.
Nice work. I built the non D Day version. The surface detail on this kit is top notch. There are some issues as you pointed out. I would highly recommend this kit!
Great job Brett. I really like the paint job and the look of this one. Thanks for taking your time on those invasion stripes. It paid off well. Great look
That jet was from RAF Lakenheath 48th TAC fighter wing 492 Fighter Squadron ' Panthers". I was stationed there in the late 80s early 90s. They had F-111Fs when I got there then transitioned to the F-15E as I left. Very nice to see the old Squadron represented here. Nice work.
I like how you tell us not to get frustrated in building a model because sometimes they can be a little inferior or made from a different manufacturer so dont give up or they might take more patience
Great build and finish! I am finishing my 1/48th version of this exact plane. One thing you overlooked in your reference photos is that all the leading edges of the wings on these three aircraft were painted Compass gray or Light Ghost gray. Also, the little antennas on top and bottom are painted a gull gray and have do not paint stencils on them. Might be too small for 1/72 though.
Interesting, I didn't notice a different color gray on the wing leading edges in any of the reference photos, do you have an example? Thanks for watching.
A brilliant build. I often struggle with getting invasion stripes correct, so I felt your pain! As always, looking forward to seeing your next video. Best Regards Paul
She came out really well......nice job! 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻 LN is half an hour down the road from me and you used to see these around quite often. Three were painted up, the others having a yellow and a sky blue tail. It was 2019 for D-Day 75......
Beautiful build! I've got a Tamiya 1/72 scale on the way. I don't think it's got quite the detail level as the Academy, but I'm definitely going to be leaning into your techniques here. I haven't built an airplane kit since before graduating high school, so it's going to be a whole new experience!
Hello Brian here I watched you paint that tail red using a pink under coat I found in the pass white seems to wash out the red. I’m gonna have to try your pink undercoat. It looks more vibrant.
I enjoyed the whole build man, and as you know I'm a big fan of this build, this video just rounds it up, and I think, when time comes for F-15 I'll do Academy too, even tho it had some problems, final result is really really good!
Glad you enjoyed it man! I would definitely say that none of the problems/issues are insurmountable, and I think you'd do a great job with it! Thanks for watching!
There’s a specific camo for the f15e strike eagle. It is a little bit hard to find photos of, but it’s a ghost grey with a blue-ish grey. If you ever get another f15 model, it would be amazing to see this camo.
I think part of the benefit for pink vs white might be that if you're masking and tend to get that little bit of bleed at the edges from the first color you put down, it's going to be a lot less stark for pink than it is for white. Personally, the way I've tried to avoid that is just by spraying a little bit of the base color over the mask first (so for my recent Golden Dragons hornet, blue vertical stabs, mask off the tips, one more layer of blue, then white and then yellow). I'm not exactly an expert, though.
That looks fantastic. Invasion stripes look good on anything. And you're absolutely right about modern jets being grey with a hint of grey. A personal secret I don't often admit too because I get shouted down, I was really unimpressed and underwhelmed with the F15. It always had a tough act to follow the F14, but it felt like a retrograde step in so many ways. But this model looks like a good representation notwithstanding it's shortcomings which you've navigated expertly
Every time I watch your builds I want to buy the kit😅. In fact I bought the little Airfix P-51 after that build video. ( spoiler alert, masks on the way) Looks fantastic, always love a good F-15!
I’m about to build this kit - the SJ 333rd squadron version. I usually prime my kits black but am concerned that I may not get the color right with this one because of the dark color of the plane. What color did you use for the body? I think the tamiya gunship grey is too dark, was thinking of gunship gray 2. Would love to hear your thoughts. Excellent video btw! Thanks!
As far as I know this is the same tooling as their multicolored F-15K that's similar to a gundam kit, so yes, color separation and all that is intentional
You really can’t compare this kit with their later F-14, F-16 and F-18 kits. This kit is quite old, but still, IMHO, not a bad kit. Luv your work mate! 😊
Good to know, thanks for the info!

I like it really good How do i get it
Very nice jet F-15 nice work. I have F-15s of my own besides one transformer starscream. Love the F-15 jet.❤😊🤩😁😀💯
That would be fun to do a Starscream F-15!
100% agree with you, the F-15 is my favorite jet for sure. You definitely did it justice with this build!
Much appreciated!!
I live 10 minutes from Lakenheath AFB and saw the original many times. You've come very close here.
Awesome! I'm very jealous!

right on!
23:27 amazing repaint skill
Thanks!
Really nice build and the fitting issues were easily fixed! I made note about trimming the parts for the metal areas, I never heard of doing that!
Awesome, glad the video could be helpful!
Very nice build, looks great once complete. I was lucky enough to see this beast at Lakenheath, looked awesome
Thats awesome!
Great job Brett. I really like the paint job and the look of this one. Thanks for taking your time on those invasion stripes. It paid off well. Great look
Thanks, they were a pain, but yeah, I'm pleased with how they turned out!
The reveal kit comes with the same decal options, but the engines a decent out of the box and you have to do the same actuator pins.
Oh nice!!
I just built this kit and had no issues with the fit. I took it to my hobby shop and they couldn’t believe how well it fit together.
Thats awesome, its entirely possible my issues were entirely of my own making!
Great tip on the pink. I have also used pink under yellow. Makes it really vibrant with fewer layers. pink + RLM-04 works great.
Good to know!

This one wasn't so bad, and really I was being nitpicky, but yeah, I think its a good mind set to have in general.
As long as you give ample drying time between coats and masking I’ve also never had issues with Alclad.
Yeah, that lines up with me experience.

Very nice work , i like it
Thank you so much 😀
Great work for such a small model Brett. Loved the metallic exhaust section 👊🤘
Thanks James!
Nice build Brett. I’ll have to check out those Academy F-14 & 18 models. I appreciate your skills.
I've got a build video on their F-14, great kit!
Ooooh, nice one Brett, really nice.
Many thanks!

Really nice Brett. Love the paint job on this.
Thank you! Cheers!

Hi Brian, yeah, it was a little weird to try at first, but I think the results are very nice!!

I think they have that camo on the F-15Cs, and I agree its very cool! I for sure want to do one like that.
Love the work. Very nice build.
Thank you! Cheers!
if you fold over a little tab at the end of the masking tape, it will be easier to grab.
Great tip!

Yeah, the F-14 is certainly a high bar for fighter jets!
Professional 👍
Thanks 👍
I'd be curious if you also did the Revell F-15E D-Day Tribute 1:72, how you think they compare.
I built the Revell one but not the Academy. The Canopy didn't fit, and the exhausts were terrible. I'd probably give it a 6.5 out of 10
I'll have to give that one a try sometime, thanks for watching!
Superb build!. What reference of aires exhaust nozzles did you used?. I have this model and the nozzles are very poor in detail.
Thank you, here is the exhaust set I used:

Thanks Kevin, that will be handy to have a set of masks for the Mustang!
Great job Brett 👍🏻
What is the blue masking tape you use?
Cheers
Its just commercial masking tape I get from the Home Depot, nothing fancy.
It looks great i hope my f15 model goes as great as yours my is a older academy f15e
Thank you!
What do you use to keep the parts on the wooden sticks while painting? I have always been curious about that 😂
It goes by many names depending on where you're from, BlueTac, Poster Tac, Poster Putty.
@@HammerheadModelMaking Awesome. Thanks!
Amazing build! Since it’s your favorite which do you like more the c model or e?
Definitely like the -E. I like the beefier build of the E over the leaner build of the C.

I used Vallejo Medium Gunship gray, and I don't feel it had any issues going over the black primer, I would greatly recommend it!
I have this kit but it’s a revell kit??
Yeah, I think Revell has a boxing with the same markings, but different plastic.
@@HammerheadModelMaking interesting. Mine comes with a light grey plastic
As far as I know this is the same tooling as their multicolored F-15K that's similar to a gundam kit, so yes, color separation and all that is intentional
That makes sense, their Phantom kit was the same way.
Just a comment for the algorithm.
