Anybody doubting even the smallest drop of output hasn't seen the 15 DOT clears on TEA over the last 6 months
If I recall correctly, a world first clear during Stormblood went to an Ifrit Egi or something.
1st world clear for TEA iirc was thanks to DoT's doing him in... AFTER all the party members got imprisoned

It's first come first serve for the LB, that's why when you have Alisae in your team for your trust dungeons she will use it before anyone even you(the player)

There is no greed in this game, there is only calculated movement. If you do a fight enough time eventually you can keep track of the mechanics with the your gcd and cd.
In ultimates this is required, especially as tanks man, those no indicator tank busters hurt
that is asking way too much for my small brain.
While there's certainly a "correct" way to determine who should do the limit break, in my experience it just ends up being whoever gets it gets it regardless of efficiency.
For Limit Breaks;
Usually in a boss fight:
1) The Melee DPS who does less in the instance normally does it (contributing factors include where the group is in their burst as well as DEATHS in that particular pull).
2) Healers: during progression to raise the party.
3) Tanks: Mainly when the fight itself requires it.
In Dungeons:
For Mob packs: Casters > Ranged > Melee (I guess?)
Last Boss: Melee > Caster > Ranged
Also note that using LB breaks combo but since monk technically doesn't have any combos, they can use LB without breaking their weird ass combo system
@@novachair6476 same is true for DRG's Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust but you need to mash them during the LB cooldown cuz they're gonna fall off fast.
As a healer main, I agree with this message. I've been dpsing and healing since clerics dance was a thing. For those who don't know, clerics dance used to punish players for having it on and not having it on by reducing dps or healing depending on if it was or was not on... so you literally had to dance around having it on. Personally, I enjoyed the mechanic. They made it easier for new people by having it be a limited time buff that only helped you, then in ShB they removed the skill completely because new people still couldn't grasp healers dpsing.
Same for me. I originally mained as a WHM when I was a sprout during the late Heavensward Era.
I play all roles now, but I still remember during my first dungeon run as conjurer whose's never played a healer in a MMO before,, I thought to myself: "Hmm... I probably don't need to keep healing so muc. We don't seem to be taking much damage. I guess I'll use some damage abilities like the Hall of the Novice said in a situation like this."
I litterally had to tell my friend "who is a monk main" that he needed to move for the positionals on his skills, during the amaurot dungeon at the end of shadowbringers. apparantly he also didn't know that melee combat jobs get buff when in certain positions
I am not maining a monk, but when I switch to casually level one, I just stay at the back so I can hit at least some positionals. Remembering which skills are side and which are back is a bit tough.
@@Vengir it helps if you place the skill properly in your skill bar. like every skill on every job that has to be used from the side in bar one and all skills from the rear in bar two.
@@Vengir That's why practice is so important. It's all about muscle memory and good hotbar placement.
@@Asari547 i do the same 😁 i play with console so my skill bar is a cross-bar and i can put the ones with rear positional buff at the bottom
@@Vengir on mnk: boot, true, demolish are rear. Dragon kick, twin snakes, snap punch are flank. Within the 123 combo:
1 - boot(rear), or dragon kick (flank)
2 - true strike (rear), or twin snakes (flank)
3 - Demo (rear), snap (flank)
So each step in your "123" combo has 2 skills with diff positional. Generally you will alternate the positional for step 1 and 2 in your combo. So dk, twin snakes on flank first time, bootshine, true strike the next Combo, and repeat. The only thing that changes is the last step in the 123, because demo is a dot that lasts the duration of 3 combos instead of 2. You do 2 snap punches for every demolish. Demolish is rear, snap is flank. So you Flank the end of the 123 unless you need to refresh demolish on the rear.
I think of it as flank gives buffs but less damage, and you alternate.
With MNK though you can pop a riddle of earth pre pull, true North for 10s, then again for 10s, then 3 stacks of riddle of earth again, x3.
In EW they are removing the positional from part 2 in the 123, so true and twin will be any position
i'm not sure if he is always high enough to orbit around pluto or that's just the way he talks...
LB can be confusing but here's the simple order,
Melee do single target damage so it's bigger than ranged,caster ones "on" single target. LB1 is legit for many fights while LB2-3 is valid for high hp-time bosses.
Ranged and casters do AoE damage so albeit their single damage is lower than melee in some occasion their LB is better.
Tank needs to do LB3 for some mechanics otherwise you will get partywipe
Healer LB3 is lifesaver and many epic poem already written in their name.
Unless facing Alexander Prime or 5.3 boss, rarely will you ever even see Tank LB3.
Back in the day, Brink of Death debuff also gives you lesser HP every time you raise... So you're usually just bound to die again after coz the damage is too much and it sucked so bad LOL
I looked it up, and I think it was 15% ALL STATS reduced, then 2nd death is 30% ALL STATS reduced... So yeah that's SUPER BAD LOL
People in chat “Do it at 10-7%” lol. Ignorant fools. You LB as soon as it pops for maximum damage. Since depending on the fight you might get a chance to use lb3 and then lb1. Since it takes that long.
Healer, Tank, enrage lb are a different story.
People don't trust random players in DF, so it's used at 10-7 only becuase it's more probable that You won't need LB3 of healers when boss left with 5-1% of HP
Yes, because getting an additional lb1 to save that 1/4 of a second is really important... It's possibly lower damage to use LB1 instead of just continuing your rotation depending on where you are at in it.
The meta method of doing the LB3 it is whoever is doing the least damage. You'll find later that people actively try to avoid doing it as it doesn't contribute to their parse. There's a few jobs who tend to be given it due to lower personal dps, which theoretically would be either a NIN or DRG for single target, but reality of the party can vary wildly.
Why give it to the lowest DPS? I am not super familiar with the Limit Break so all I know is it scales off party gear level and gets stronger for each bar.
@@Koranthus Because LB will do the same damage no matter who did it, it scales off the combined iLevel of everyone. So the guy with the lowest personal dps can deal a huge chunk of damage while the rest continues their rotations.
In most cases i'll just do it when there's 7-8% left.
@@Koranthus LB dmg is fixed, so its better to do it by the weakest than the strongest one disrupting their rotation
If you are in dungeons then you want to blow your LB on a big pull with a caster or ranged for that sweet sweet AoE damage. On any trial with more than one target, ranged or caster LB is usually preferred over melee. Melee is like a 'if there is nothing else' deal. No more than one target, no need for tank LB, no need for Healer LBs(farm). Then Melee LB is the go to. Lowest on the prio list.

It all boils down to the content you're doing in short.
Any content that only have 1 target:
Melee
Any content that have a lot of targets to kill:
Ranged/Caster
When the content will kill you without Tank's LB:
Tank
When the party is all fucked up with more than 4 party members dead and you know you can clear as long as you have more hands available:
Healer.
It really is case by case, really. Well at higher level people will be raiding with those they know or have means of communication so they could decide who will LB and when before the fight start.
@@HadeaRin 9 in 10 dungeons are single target bosses where melee DPS LB is the only right choice. Why is he saying it's the last on priority list is beyond my understanding. It's just ridiculous.
@@malta071 The lowest priority situation is allowed to be the most common one, just like the highest priority situation (Tank LB3) can be the least common depending on the content you do. Technically, which DPS LB is lowest priority is interchangeable, but it seems silly to argue about it.

More like depends on job. Usually Ninja does LB cause outside of its burst every 60s it's got very little to do outside of keeping timers up. Most other melees have strict rotations that cant deviate much from them.
LB depends on the situations. Range DPS is best for LB for damage usually. Black Mage gives the best usually. Bards are also good. Most people don't have time for small chat because they are usually busy dodging the orange crap under their feet. Mechanics first, yes.
That debuff icon on being ressed is just genius. 1 Ress = your missing half your brain. 2+ Ress = your missing all your brain. Everyone can see who's brainless...
You aren't a real dps unless you give your tanks and healers more work 😏
DPS always fight for LB3... I'm not ashamed to admit that I do it quite a lot, as a caster

LB doesn't affected by buff/debuff, so those that got rezz debuff get priority
Rdm only gets to use the LB3 if you intend to blind everyone and cause a wipe...
If I’m DPS in a casual party finder I make sure I hit that LB3 before anyone. LoL. Even when I’m dancer.

LB 3 order is melee get prior (monk LB 3 is the last in prior for melee) and then ranged (BLM and RDM get prior I believe)
The different job doesn't change damage output of limit break though. It's all the same except the animation it plays.
@@dragopy2410 I think priority within different LB styles is more a case of which class can weave a LB into their rotation the easiest I think.

I have never used an LB
if there are more than 3 people dead it goes to the healer, if there are less than 3 people dead it goes to the first DPS to use it. if 5+ people are about to die it goes to the tank.
