London's Finest Black Cab at Gandalf Corner - LL59FJA
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 тра 2021
- This was in early March when we were all just getting super worried about Corona, but still a few weeks from lockdown. The cabbie had to go on a driver awareness course which would have cost him about £100 and the best part of a day.

one of Britain's finest policeman, down to earth and really enjoyed his job. we need more like him, this should be a police training video.,
I reported him for not giving a shit about Corona and breaking 2m rule
@@mrsmokingskittles148 you reported him.. to the police ? LOL good luck 👍🏼
He s that good he toddled off on his merry way straight over the no cycling great big white letters. You couldn't make up the hypocrisy.
@@bigteddy66 Parks police are allowed to ride there - it's part of their duties.
@@bigteddy66 Maybe the cab driver learned his lesson here, and maybe you also learned a lesson; not to open your gob without knowing the facts.
It is always reassuring to see the good cops at work. The good guys make a difference.
@Sean Timmons - Just one of a few good apples in a rotten barrel I'm afraid.
What a nice fellow. Acting like a human and not a typical Person in uniform.
Got to, Mikey making them look like slackers now lmao.
Agree totally, to be fair the majority of cops are like him...if you don't act like a total jerk with them they won't treat you like one. If he is reading this, I hope he has a long and happy retirement!
I will agree with you on this Ed, I did find it funny when he said I don't give a shit about corona. Shame he's retired seems like a legit guy!
A very charming super-spreader
Riding a bicycle for a living keeps one down to earth.
That copper haha, "I don't give a shit about corona" - Top bloke.
inadvertently grassed up his mate to his employer like all those drivers lol
@@felixlynch7327 He wanted a handshake no harm done.
good tag teaming at gandalf, I appreciate the interaction w/cop; you are personable and respectful, thank you for providing incidental ambiance, a far cry from my neighborhood. Good going on LL59FJA.
This kind of interaction has been sadly lacking for quite a while.
Thanks for posting this Mikey 👍
He seemed really awesome. What a nice copper. Happy retirement to him.
Such a nice policeman Was doing a better job than the useless wastes of spaces who spend days watching some idiot sitting on a gantry holding up miles and miles of vehicles.
@@dianapeek6936 You think this Cop would have done anything different? How naive.
I had a meeting in London today. When it finished I took a walk to Gandalf Corner.. called the wife like a starstruck kid. Keep up the good work Mike 👍
Oh wow!
I'd be even more star struck meeting Mikey in person..i have to think of a good opening line. How about "You know what's going to happen now don't you? Number one I want to thank you for all your hard work and number two I'm sure the police would say the same". 😉
I’d be starstruck too 🤩
@@Gustava10 Well thank you all! I'm just a normal bloke, nothing at all special about me. I'd be just as honoured to meet you all.
That cabbie u tried to butter up ignored u 😂
Because he drives the same way
03:50 Did that officer just rode on to a "No Cycling" path?
Its always the good, hard working ones that retire too soon. I wish R.0 524 a happy retirement.
You and me both!
On a full pension at 55 years of age, why would he keep working? Good luck to him.
@@tamar5261 Ditto Chris, i am very happy my taxes help pay for this class of Policing. I well remember my local bobby when i was first driving. He gave me sound but STERN advice. I always respect our police.
Why don't they just install a camera at that junction? Would save everyone a lot of manual work surely?
They claim that it will cost too much to run. However in 2021 the park has spent £160000 repairing a gate which has been driven into twice by boy racers
More like why don't they just fix the junction. If this many people break the rules, maybe its time to change them.
That spot must be one of the few places left in the UK not to have CCTV!
@@larry365 They like it for the income.
Or put a zebra crossing there but without the island to get in the way? Its a known bottleneck when it comes to the lights further ahead backing up so there should be some sort of filter there and not someone just propping up the treasury funds.
Gandalf corner will soon be a world renowned tourist attraction thanks to Mikey 😅
What a sound police officer. Top guy. Respect
I have met only really kind, friendly locals in London. There is a reason why The Beatles came from England; just four very cool English people. I count you and this good cop among them.
A thoroughly nice bloke
Brilliant
You Have Met The Met 👍👍👍💙💙💙
3:17 blackbird flies directly past the camera at high speed.
I like it when you can talk to cops like normal people, too often it seems like us-v-them where its not. We all just want to be safe and go home at the end of the day.
Most Met Police are like this when they're not dealing with something urgent, they're trained how to deal with the public.
when he shook your hand and said I dont care about convid. respect
Great police officer wish all were like him loveable guy have time for people like him.
3:38 - Mikey, I was looking at your shadow and thinking "What kind of action cam is that!?" 🤣
Long time Mr Luap! Hahaha, I hadn't noticed that.
“When we were all just starting to get super worried about corona”, he clearly wasn’t! haha!
Does that say "no cycling" on the entrance of the park? 🤔
@@DreamClean yeah most parks prohibit it. At least on the walking path parts.
Wait did that cop say at the end, "i don't give a shit about corona"?
Yep so do I last year their was a RTA & I helped out I did not care about corona all I wanted to do is care for the bike rider
@@thisisnotforalltosee1875 It was March 2020 and this is when it was just getting serious in Italy and a lot of people thought it wouldn't come over here hence the officers view. A month later we were In lockdown
A last-minute glimpse of pre-pandemic life!
Yeah queues of traffic. Great wasnt it
The officer said “I don’t give a shit about corona” so this must have been filmed during the pandemic.
How much time do you spend at this junction?
Whose bicycle is that locked to a road-sign on the dividing-island?
Hey Man! This is exactly what I'd like to do in Milan (Italy), unfortunately car drivers are not so polite like in London. If I'd do something like you do, I'd go directly to the hospital and then into jail because of privacy vilation and some new laws created on purpose for me.
Put some block-poles in the ground, that only will shoot up and block, if a vehicle is trying to pass from the right. Effective.
Great and friendly police officer. I'm sad he's retired
That copper earns respect 🙌
This was enjoyable. I chat several times a week with a retired London police officer, when we play a word game against each other. I have the highest respect for the officers who do their job conscientiously, both here in the USA and in other countries.
I have often wished I could do here, what you do there - but here I risk being shot as a result of such actions, plus the fact that there is no such law here that allows citizens to report motorists bad behavior or scofflaw attitude, and get results. Might as well howl at the moon! Stay safe, Mikey.
Yo.. I have filled a road traffic offence but cannot find a link to check the progress of it. How do you know who is being prosecuted and who got how many points? Thanks
Nice to see a polite friendly interactive policeman.
Very old school!!!
That police officer was really cool!
I've enjoyed watching your many videos you've recorded here, but I'm intrigued by your name for the place. I lived less than a mile away for 15 years near the end of the last millennium, but never heard it named as you do. Please tell me why you call it Gandalf Corner
Mikey was named Gandalf by his (many) followers for his 'you shall not pass' attitude. And this is his corner.
ua-cam.com/video/mJZZNHekEQw/v-deo.html
Why don't they install a set of one way collapsible plates at the junction ? Job done.
Because they hinder the path of emergency vehicles.
Sounds like a decent Constable that. There remains a few like him still, sadly they are all retiring now.
Top copper!
Thought at first it was that black cab you were pinging, for not getting far enough over on the right to make his turn (forcing the vehicle behind him to squeeze carefully past in order to make HIS turn, to the left). That's a habit that really gets my goat, sprawling all over the mouth of the road, so no-one else can get past you, even though there ought to be plenty of room for two vehicles to sit abreast.
Ha ha when the Police Officer left you he rode into the park across a non cycling sign on the ground!!
One rule for .. no I'm only joking.
"I don't give a shit about corona" 🤣🤣
That cab was not interested in what you were saying
😂😂😂😂😂 Mikey was buttering up the cabbie with the "ooh, I'm on your side in the fight against Uber" comment and the guy couldn't care less.
Gonna miss Rich. He was very good with you I feel like yous were very good friends
Traffic lights would be good here. Possibly.
That policeman down to earth one in a million happy retirement.
Absolute gentleman
Definitely could do with more officers like this.
The sad thing is majority of law enforcement are like this, it’s just the media portrays Leo’s as a bunch of hired thugs
Still don't understand why they don't paint NO ENTRY on the road where they keep driving the wrong way. Quick and cheap partial solution.
There's a keep left sign that they are all disregarding, no more is needed. We're all taught about this in our driving lessons, so it's clear that they're doing it on purpose because they don't care.
did that police officer cycle in to a no cycling path in the park?
Yes , the irony
Ok, so I'm fairly new about these parts and don't tend to read the comments much, but how would you go baout solving a problem like Gandalf corner?
A roundabout instead of a junction would be a lot better.
Lights - makes common sense.
It’s obviously a problem spot that needs to be made more efficient to help the traffic flow. The people who take the cheeky short cut aren’t in the right but I can understand their frustration and temptation to cut the corner. It’s definitely a dangerous move to make and it would be far more productive to find a solution to this reoccurring problem than stand there waiting for the next problem to occur and getting a sense of satisfaction out of catching the the culprits. Some people have too much time on their hands being a busybody getting gratification out of an obviously problem point rather than trying to find a solution.
Great Cop!
Send the Police Officer down to Bournemouth, maybe some of his demeanour will rub off on them.
Auditing Britain's audit of Bournemouth Station was a disgrace
@@Billyb0b557 I live in Bournemouth must check that out
So have you stopped walking onto the road to actually stop the vehicle and making it reverse?
No, there are more of those videos in the pipeline!
Nice video & great police officer Mikey. Keep up the good work. Do you have a South African accent? All the best. J.
he has a Dutch accent...
unlike myself, but i had a native English speaking teacher for my English classes. Miss Hannay was very keen on the "proper pronounciation" hence my near impecable English in tongue.
Thank you Miss Hanney
One good cop is worth a million bad ones, may the force be with him.
Why not put a camera on the corner I cannot understand why this still happens!
Now at Gandalf corner they do Pass, like eating a bad burrito they just pay for it later.
He mentioned Uber. I always use Uber. I know the fare beforehand and there is no risk of a taxi driving me round for miles extra across a city I am in for the first time. That happened to me which I found out after the one quarter distance, time and price return trip, and it's why I've used Uber ever since.
I would never , ever use Uber. Technology disruptors.
Uber never used to use flat fares until recently and what about when you really need to get somewhere and they put surge pricing on to make it much more expensive than being driven around the block?
I'm pretty sure the path he cycled down at the end said NO CYCLING! one rule for one and one for another.
Mike (definitely noted a SA accent) where do you get the time for this?
Nah, I'm not South African, have never lived there. I don't spend a great deal of time on this, just an hour before work on a few busy days a year. My friends ride in the park, and I'm doing this to protect them from these idiot wrong side drivers.
@@CyclingMikey good work. I cant believe the traffic authorities cant engineer a solution to stop them.
what a brilliant Bobby.....the role model for how all policemen/women should be
😂 at the end did he say I don’t give a beep about corona
You appear to miss the moped which went round island then rejoined queue then turned right
“I’ll put him in anyway because it’s a ticket for me”
Messaged you before hating on you cause I don't like people grassing but these people need grassing on you've got guts for what you do and if there's anything I love in life its guts
Is that blue Surley frame a steel frame Mickey?
Yes indeed, it's a Disc Trucker.
Whatever happened to your recumbent?
He looks very young to be retired, must be early retirement.
We need more videos with this cop, preferably stopping crap drivers. It's a pity he's retired.
What's the connection between this video and chocolate ?
Which London force is this Met or City of London?
Met.
I think that one is Royal Parks, if I recall correctly from previous videos, but I may be wrong
This is met police, it says so on his high vis jacket. City police operate in the city around the EC1 area. This is NW1/W1 where it would be covered by the Met
I want a shirt “Are you taking a Mikey” 🤪
Its great how friendly you are with the police they respect you for what you do.
What a lovely copper.
What camera do you use Mikey?
This video was shot on a GoPro hero 7, but I'm now using a 10.
nice copper.
Wasn't the cabbie at the end on his phone ❓
is blue the new black?
Baffling that with so much cctv traffic monitoring in London, a camera is not installed at this location.
Nice guy!
A roundabout there would solve that junctions problem. 😎
Great work mate. It’s nice to see the police working with you. Here across the Pond.. There are some officers who get grumpy if they feel like someone’s helping them do “their job “
Not only grumpy, they wouldn’t honor this guy’s videos. Here in Boston or Massachusetts his videos would be inadmissible because most traffic violations are considered infractions. When they want to enforce laws/collect revenue, that’s when they put officers with radar guns which have also been beat in court for in accuracy.
Excellent Video Mikey... 👍👍👍👮♂️🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♀️🚵🏻♀️
I’m surprised the cab on the main road didn’t let the cab out from the junction obviously the standards of some London cabbies have gone downhill
What did the cop say at the end .
"I don't give a shit about Corona" because he had just shaken Mr Mikey's hand.
I like the way the policeman gets on his bike and cycles into the park. He cycles right over the 'No Cycling' writing on the ground.
He is allowed to though, as cycling through the park is part of his duties. I'm OK with that.
Hur dur
Just a bit of advice, you would be more effective if you don't hide behind a hedge and stood right at the corner with your camera visible, then drivers won't even try to do it
But then, when he's not there, the motorist will keep doing it. The element of surprise works better.
It like having a police officer on every corner. No crime. But to catch someone in action has more power.
Fantastic copper
‘I don’t give a shit about corona’ - brilliant. He belongs to a generation of policeman who truly believes in upholding the law and policing by consent. It’s how all officers should interact with the public and I wish many more did.
Modern police force have totally lost the plot in the UK. Too afraid of offending people. Its the old timers, as was the policeman, who want to uphold the law, many of the others are too fat and afraid to say boo to a goose.
Covidiots are idiots and NOT brilliant. Without mask andates too many dumb people don't wear a mask and innocent people therefore get sick and die in the process!
“I dont give a shit about Carona” just before shaking your hand. Well nothing more I can say lol
I see you are a Surly man. Is that a disc trucker?
Well spotted!
where do you send the videos?
www.met.police.uk/ro/report/rti/rti-a/report-a-road-traffic-incident/
you do a great job. thank you.
Yup need more coppers like him. Great guy.
Woahhhh he cycled 3 inches on the pavement before going down the pram slope of the pavement.
They need to sort out the congestion on that road
They really need traffic lights at that junction - even if only part time lights.
That was nice of the police man. Keep it up and keep safe
Why didn't you stop him like you do everyone else?
