- I'm genuinely surprised that the Marlowe House TORs team aren't prosecuting these drivers. They've made some IMO odd decisions recently regarding wrong-siders, letting some go, and others prosecuted, and I don't understand these decisions. I'm fairly smart and I cannot divine the evidential reasons behind it. My suspicion is that it's related politically to those Insulate Britain protestors blocking roads, but I don't know. Regardless, I'm not protesting here, I'm simply stopping these drivers from posing further dangers and attempting to teach them, and everyone else in the queue watching them, that wrong side driving is illegal and won't be tolerated. And of course educating everyone else who sees these videos.
The last chap, in PO13NWK, came back to beg me not to put him on UA-cam. I did think about whether to do it, but in the end I decided that his driving was too poor for me not to upload. I also didn't like how he kept slapping my shoulder as he was trying to persuade me. Mate, that much body contact is unwanted at any time, not just during Covid-19 times, and it makes me wonder what other sort of contact you persue with others who aren't running cameras. I've left all of that conversation out of the video, partly because it wasn't well framed, and partly because he revealed some personal life details that I don't feel right in sharing. In the end I do respect that he came back to apologise, even if there is IMO no chance any policeman told him it was legal to do this move.

This is why illegal driving happens. Simply because the Police do not enforce the law all the time.The law is the law, and roads signs are there for the safety of both the drivers and public. The police can't be everywhere all at once though I do quite like the idea of an officer on every corner.

This is happening in so many places , I am on the road in London every day for several hours and we need to bring back the unmarked police cars !!!! Thousands of them are needed to restore law and order in the capital !!!
Your videos are fascinating....I've been driving for more than 50 years, and I can't remember even considering to drive on the wrong side of a Keep Left bollard. Am I the odd man out here?

I find it fascinating that this particularly junction seems to attract them. I know Mikey obviously can't be everywhere, but this junction clearly stands out. Is it because it's London, simply busy, or the layout here? Odd.
You should check out here in Boston, Massachusetts. Your drivers there are tame compared to the stuff I see here on a daily basis.

I think the fact that most of them didn't pass the Keep Left sign probably saved their bacon. No excuse for the two drivers who did pass it though. As soon as any part of their car passed it, the offence was complete.

Might be because the courts are so busy after lockdown. There is a fixed penalty, but perhaps people have started gaming the system by opting for court expecting the prosecution to be time barred.
Some bigger muppetry than usual there - the two cars joining a queue on the wrong side & the speed of the last guy when there was barely any queue anyway.
In my experience the police are always very reluctant to prosecute using cycle camera evidence so it is quite amazing that they have taken you seriously, at least until now. The one thing they do tend to take seriously is use of a mobile as it is one of the Fatal Four. The system is very strange and unsatisfactory in that the police are a law unto themselves.
The police use the W.I.S ( When It suits ) law.
The police are using resources and prosecutions properly to punish bad people and not generally good people who make small mistakes or infractions as they should.
@@Loosehead Reported to police that every day there were folks on personal e-scooters zooming along the pavement outside our primary school at drop off time in the morning, basically weaving in and out of 4-5 year olds at speed. (So basically breaking about 5-6 laws and endangering the kids). The police reply was effectively, give us a call when someone gets killed, otherwise not interested.

Unreal. And that last one was so busy talking to you and not observing around him that whilst he "corrected", he almost drove into a passing cyclist. Plus he would not have saved much time by wrong siding anyway. Not that it ever makes it right. It also staggers me that there are still folk out there that think it's illegal to film in public! What, with practically everyone these days having a camera phone?

Most of these drivers that break the law can't even rectify their mistake properly no all round observations bang straight into reverse and away they go. Crazy lunatics lol.

What gets me is that individuals clearly breaking the law in a way that risks harm to others then start to abuse you. What we are seeing here in your work is actually a very important psychological study.

I don't understand why NFA. When you've had previous successful convictions. Is there a certain part of the island they have to cross? What is the threshold? The law should be applied equally.

There is an intersection (here in Canada) downtown where the cars cannot turn right on Red-there are FIVE signs stating it plus a walk sign is on plus people walking and some cars STILL trying to turn. When this is pointed out, instead of "sorry" they start yelling and insulting the pedestrians!
I think maybe someone with a little clout got caught and has had a word with the Met and they are no longer prosecuting - shame as it is clearly a criminal offence and bloody dangerous !

It is ironic how much time some of these guys have to discuss their time saving maneuvers. I had a minicab dangerously not give way to me and my son, then stop and stand next to his can drinking coffee, while waiting for his next victim.
It’s so frustrating to see your hard work and efforts go to waste sometimes. I wish there were less cuts to policing, to ensure all motorists were caught and prosecuted as they should be. Shame on them and good on you.

The problem is Mikey is stopping them before they pass the 'keep left' sign. If he just filmed them as they passed, without confronting them, they would all get prosecuted.
That's irrelevant. They are not emergancy services, and have no right to be on that side of the road to begin with.

Whether they have a 'right ' to be on that side of the road or not is irrelevant because that, in itself, is not illegal, unless it becomes driving without due care and attention. and that is harder to prove.

However any times I watch Mikey's videos of this junction I still find it amazing that drivers attempt to drive like this and are prepared to argue and try and justify their behaviour.

It really annoys me when the police NFA... they've done it to me several times, for example when a disgusting neighbour of mine delibertely killed one of my cats, and another time when the same POS threw a bench through my window. Kind of makes one want to take the law into one's own hands.

Dear CyclingMickey. I would like you to take note of what I believe is an error in your judgement in this video. Firstly, you were perfectly correct to point out to the driver of the first car, registration: LS69 WHO that he /she had broken the law by passing the keep left sign on the right hand side. But the drivers of the two other cars, registrations: YK18 LAF and LR18 BXP, had not yet passed the keep left sign so these people were only overtaking slower moving traffic which is perfectly legal. Therefore, no actual law had been broken. We only have your assumption that any laws were about to be broken. Very circumstantial to say the least.
I'm still waiting to hear your reply to my last comment Mickey. Or have left you speechless.

What I don't understand with these drivers is if they just sat with the traffic instead of taking an illegal short cut, they would only have to wait an extra few seconds if that. Mindless.

At least two of those cars going back into the queue were completely oblivious to the cyclists legally filtering. It was pure luck that they didn't hit them. As long as the police keep giving NFAs, these people will continue doing this as they'll be convinced they were right. Ludicrous.

Also wonder if the keep left sign needs to be visible on the evidence. If so Mikey might want to park his bike just up the road (facing where he stood in this vid) with a camera running on the bike - catch them from both sides.

I think you should post the clip where the cyclist turning left onto the main road comes round the corner and nearly hits the car that was jumping the queue, at the start of these videos… it’s shocking how dangerous it is when you can see it… much more so than your text at the start of the video.

Council need to put a barrier up and a camera. These entitled wankers need to be more patient, observe the road rules set for everyone and leave earlier if they're so worried about being late. The world doesn't revolve around these little treasures, they need to remember that.

The woman who was a bit narked realised her error and corrected her driving. If I was a police officer I would have a talk rather than a chat with her and that would be the end of the matter,
and the chap with the black car. He realised his error which was just a liberty he took.
How do the police choose to prosecute some and not others for the exact same evidence and offences? That there is an example of how the system doesn’t work.

I don't understand the last guy as there was no real que and would likely have quicker to keep within the law. Why would he take the risk of someone coming out of the junction not expecting him to be there and the potential legal issues, strange world!
