When do you start your tomato seedlings? Last year I started 8 weeks before my May 15 planting time and some of my plants were 26 inches tall and believe I'm waiting to start in 7 and 6 weeks hopefully around 15 inches will be plenty and ready for planting. I'm believing worm casting and micorizomes are very worth adding and vermiculite. Two of my " repeat tomatoes " are Thornbury Terracotta and Brad's Atomic and I'm just saying the both have lots of green inside but not called green tomatoes. Thanks happy growing
Usually around March 21. I was considering starting them later this year too. I would like to keep them in my greenhouse, but it's not heated.. so I am considering my options.

Love that you're in Ohio too -- this year will be my first garden. I have a lotttt more varieties, but only 1-2 of each plant. Going to have to give some to friends lol
Oh that is so exciting! I know you will do GREAT! Have fun and learn a lot. Your friends will love getting to share plants and harvests with you. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
@@jef8528 I’m not sure yet! This year I’m growing every color and size of tomato to try them all out. Out of the gates, I really like the Cocoa Micro Dwarf because at 2 inches tall and 20 days old it was already flowering! Now covered in tiny tomatoes; a really fun tiny variety. But I’m also growing popular dwarfs and indeterminates.
@@jef8528 Indigo Apple & Dr.Wyches are my current top 2 favorites. I talk about my 5 favs at the end of my tomato review series 😊 ua-cam.com/video/pHONe4nwKAM/v-deo.html
I am by lake Erie, planting long before memorial day. Next week and extended forecast perfect. Literally I live 3 miles away shocked your planting that late. Summer starts Monday we go from 40s to 80s in 4 days. Can't wait to see how you grow! Your taste test reviews were awesome help last season. I didn't care black beauty at all it's hyped up so can't wait to see your opinion. Grew 5 plants last season all different locations and was sadly disappointed.
Ohio is so sneaky.. I’ve been burned before by planting to soon. If all looks good by May 20 I may start planting the frost tender stuff out then. I’m not ready to commit yet though!! Frost hardy stuff has definitely been put out though. Thanks for the feedback on black beauty. The one I got last year was good but my plant didn’t do well. Trying again. Hoping for the best.
I am growing some of the same varieties. I didnt count but I probably have a bout 15 varieties. Most of them are new to me so I am excited! I have learned a lot by watching all of the reviews! Sadly, a lot of my tomato seedlings aren't doing so hot. I am not quite sure what is wrong with them and it's dissapointing. I guess that's the way it goes sometimes. Hopefully I can figure out what's wrong so I ca learn from it. 🙂 I started a new batch about 3 weeks ago just incase the ones I started earlier don't make it so I am hoping I be able to try some of the varieties. Happy gardening 🙂
I’m happy to hear you enjoy the videos. If your having seedling trouble I wonder how your soil is? I make my own mix of potting mix and peat moss for my seedlings. The potting mix provided nutrients where the peat moss makes it lighter, fluffy, and better drainage. Could also be an issue of too much water, or not enough light. Troubleshoot with a couple of those things and see if anything bounces back. Gardening is a lot of trial and error. The most important thing is to stick with it though! You got this!!

Interested to see what you think of the Back Sea Man. I grew it last year for the first time (also purchased from MIGardener). The plant was prolific and the tomatoes were amazing.

Thanks for the video. One suggestion, when you hold the seed packet up to the camera, hold it very still and for a little longer. I could not see them well but would liked to get to see the pictures better.
