Xenoblade Chronicles: Where to Start? (How to Get Into Xenoblade)

- I love the Xenoblade Chronicles series. So, I'm hoping that the imminent release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will get people interested in checking out the series for the first time. For those people, I thought I'd offer a straightforward guide to the games in the series, and the order in which they are best played.

Monolithsoft is freaking insane team of developers in a span of less than 10 years they've made Xenoblade X, Xenoblade 2, Xenoblade 2 torna, Xenoblade definitive edition and Xenoblade 3. Not to mention they helped Nintendo other big projects such as Animal Crossing, Splatoon and Zelda. Amazing!
They reuse assets very well
Note, that if your planning to get into the Xenoblade series, their actually ARE connections between 1, 2, and 3. I think it's best you play them in order to experience the series in the best way possible. All the games connect in mind-blowing ways. I dont recommend you start with 3, as that game is filled with major parts from 1 and 2. It's basically fan service towards Xenoblade fans.

Not owning a switch myself, this all sort of directs me to which let's play's I want to watch, but thanks for the guide. Good to know that Xenoblade X doesn't connect storywise to 1,2, and 3, but also disappointing because that's the only game I had a little familiarity with! Thank you for taking the time to make this.
I recommend SarahKey's LPs! they are edited down so you get the whole gist of the story without a 60+ hour playthrough.
Thanks for the tip, is there one for X as well. It might not be connected I still want to know more about the story.

4:40 I did this, and I'm really happy that I did it for a lot of reasons!
* The things that happened through chapter 8 are in direct connection to the torna DLC so they had more impact at this moment! I don't think I would enjoy XC2 ending that much if I didn't make the dlc before!
*Playing the dlc made me understand the combat system a lot better in the base game! Especially the use of the orb. Even if the use isn't especially the same, the combat in the last chapter of the base game were more interesting because of that!
storywise you can play 1 and 2 in any order but gameplay wise and just generally(for example early game voice acting potentially giving a bad impression)i'd say 1 is more beginner friendly than 2 so i'd reccomend going with that first

just bought defenitve edition and 2 so im gonna play em and ill let yall know my thoughts
If you haven't played the other ones yet, I recommend playing xenoblade 1 if you liked keves and xenoblade 2 if you liked agnus.

Use the numbers on the games then play any other xenogame in any order

Play 1 best story and u will be hooked by 1 and wont beable to leave the fandom
And if you can afford only one game I recommend picking up xc2 since the combat and artstyle would be more similar to 3 than 1
I agree with this! Also I just like XC2 a little better than XC1. But I know that not everyone agrees so I am trying to be unbiased.

Nah, personally I'd recommend DE, since it has a much better beginning, more QoL, and a much slower and simpler battle system than 2's.

This is a really cool video - Good job! Tho…I really think you should’ve waited til Xenoblade 3 came out before making this video. It’ll be outdated in less than a month which kinda defeats the purpose of the video.
This is a fair point but I also think right now, around the time of a new game release, is when people are most likely to want this info! If my assumptions about XC3 turn out to be wrong then I can always make a revised version.

2:19 incorrect X IS CANON, xeno2 confirms it several times, if you play x you find further evidence pointing to its placement in the timeline, infact the entire article explaining it would take to long to write here, but the sumerization is that it is certaintly canon and denying that only means you diden t actualy play all the games and listend to the story details given by the characters themselfs about the lore of the world.
This isn't true. Aside from Elma appearing in XC2 as non-canon DLC, there is nothing linking the narrative of XCX with XC2. They even feature contradictory accounts of how life on Earth got wiped out. Also there's no need to be rude and say I didn't play the games when obviously I did.
