I’m loving the podcast even more with time. A little bit out of context but I just wanted to say to Dave that he gave some great tv recommendations during the “before we go” time of the PSA podcast, and one I’ll never forget was Jury Duty. This is just to say that if you guys reccomend, I watch 💪🏼❤
’Midnight’ is a great episode. 'Blink' is the first episode I show people. So many cool ideas in 45 minutes. The Weeping Angels would freak out Scaredy-cat Dave too. Like your new UA-cam channel.
This episode is absolutely fantastic, easily Top 3. I think like lots of Doctor Who episodes this was scary when I first watched it and has lost that over time but what it has not lost is the stressful choking atmosphere. I truly reach a point every time where I feel I cannot breathe and I don't physically notice until Sky is out of the door and then suddenly my whole body releases. It's just such crushing pressure! A Tennant double episode I would suggest would be 'The Impossible Planet' and 'The Satan Pit'.
I'm late in making a comment, but would like to make menrion that this episode story basis has been done so many times before it! Its great to see it interpreted in diferent ways. It reminded me of Hitchcock 1944- Lifeboat! You should give it a go!
With regards to which Star Trek episode it reminded you of, I would have guessed Skin of Evil as well Dave, Darmok I think is too loose a connection to guess that was the inspiration.
Surprised Dave didn't recognise the episode Darmok, and he calls himself a Star Trek fan! As one of the aliens in that episode would say, "Patrick Stewart, face in palm". On a more serious note, I don't think it's that similar to Midnight. Apart from the general idea of an alien that communicates in a unique way that a human doesn't comprehend. I really liked Midnight, I enjoy whenever David Tennant plays the Doctor in a different way than usual. In this case how he was beaten and reduced to a terrified shell and doesn't get to do his swaggering arrogance act like normal.
I wonder if Darmok was inspired by Solaris, given that the main focus of that book/film is discovering an alien conscious that communicates in a manner that is totally beyond human comprehension. Then again, I feel that Midnight could be more closely linked to Solaris than Darmok, because with Darmok we can imagine human beings inventing a language like that.
58:40 Man, I remember disliking the cover for The Green Mile after the movie launched. It's just Tom Hanks, on a cover that screams "look, it's the book of the film!!!", and it was the only one available in Brazil for a long time. Ended buying it, and I really like the story, but still wish these things wouldn't tie themselvs so much to other media
Ok that Star Trek episode from RTD cannot be darmok. Great episode but has nothing to do with midnight. In brief, Picard is stranded on a planet with someone who only speaks in allegory and metaphor. They fight a beast, yada yada everyone learns something and goes home (except for the opposite captain)
For me personally, no, it's not the scariest. It's a good episode, and I like the social commentary aspect of it, but I never found it scary in the slightest.

I love Dave's synopsis

I found the end quite emotional when the Doctor reunites with Donna. The look on his face, and the worry on hers. It's a great scene.
This is honestly the very first podcast I've ever listened to daily, so clearly you must be doing something right.

Rob: "I love a malevolent liquid." Think we're going to need a series for X-Files and show him some black oil episodes.
To add to the Galaxy Quest Request, watch Spaceballs. Like, now. :D

I think they should do the two old Dalek movies. Especially the second one.

Moff-at?
How odd
I wish you had picked a couple of the older serials
Then I think of a couple of classics, and think, not that one
For me personally, no, it's not the scariest.
