I got a question. I have an older hds gen 2 touch unit. I’ve used it for about a year, and I’m still having trouble distinguishing bass on side imaging. Is it even possible to consistently know when you are seeing bass with this older unit? I have seen a school of bass before on it, when there was a really soft bottom, but other than that, I can’t seem to see any shadows from bass. It also makes it really difficult because all my fisheries are rivers and have tons of non bass species.
The images in this video are from 3 different Lowrance units over the past 2 years. I'm currently using the HDS Pro with the ActiveImaging HD 3-in-1 Transducer
When so many fish are chasing the hooked fish, what’s anyone’s experience with a partner casting at tail of that fight while you’re bringing it it? I 90% fish alone but would like to see a cast on tail of that fight,
It’s works with a jerkbait, lipless, and a chop style glide bait if they’re feeding on big gizzards in my experiences. Texas rigged Caffeine shad works too. Wait for the jump or boil when your partner is reeling one in and fire in there quick. Works especially well with smallmouth. Gotta be super quick though and find a rhythm
I have a question. You say if side scan is set at 200ft, then it will show 100ft in each side. I remember a previous video you did in side scan stating you need to add water depth to that. So if the water depth is 20ft, and your scan is at 200ft, wouldn't that only leave 90ft each side? I'm asking because if my scan is set to 100ft but I'm in 20ft of water, that's a big difference. I'm new to side scan. And your my go to guy for that. Keep the vids coming.
The screen is showing 100' on both sides, but not 100' of the lake bottom. In the image I showed in the video, the boat was in 15ft of water so the image showed 85' of lake bottom on each side of the boat and 15ft of the water column under the boat. The image is still showing 100' on each side of the boat and a 12" (1 foot) bass will still take up 1/200th of the screen regardless of how much black space (water column) there is on the screen.
Johnny, this contradicts what you taught us years ago. Early in the video, you showed 200’ of coverage, 100’ on both sides. However, it doesn’t appear you accounted for the depth which would take away from that 200’ of coverage, correct? (not being a jerk btw) 😉

This is the type of video that made FTM great back in he day imo. Great video.
Loved the way they followed the "hooked" bass to the surface..
Great videos Jonny....
Thanks for watching!
Great video, Jonny! Thanks for sharing.
Jonny, I'm back watching again, I'm glad you're keeping up with the videos. Great job have enjoyed your content for years. Thanks, Guy
Much appreciated!
This is a real good video. Thanks
great stuff.👍
Great info. Very informative. 👍
Very informative video nice job keep em coming
Glad you liked it!
Great instruction...
Love your videos, learned a lot. Can you do a video showing large catfish on side scan?
How do you like the eagle eye?
Dude just driving right over your spot while ur fishing it was wild lol
I see you have a Lowrance FS on your boat.
What can you tell me about it?
Is it a good fish finder?
Does it show fish nicely?
Is it worth buying?

I have a garmin 126 with gt36 do you recommend the 1070 or 455 for seeing fish better?
Thanks for the good info 👍
What do you think about the eagle eye 9?
Glad you enjoyed! It's not bad for the money and gets the job done. Better than not having FFS. I still prefer Active Target 2 if I had the choice.
Great content Jonny, your graphs are so clear!! What transducer you using? Thank you

Would you have thrown the big flutter spoon this time of year if not on a power plant lake?
Yeah it works year round. You just need big Gizzard Shad in your lake. I've caught them on it in 43 degree water before.
great video! the information you provided is very useful and i will be using it on my next outing. thanks. what month are you fishing in this video?
This was last week, so January. I was on a power plant lake with warmer water.
@@FishtheMoment sweet. ill be fishing newton lake in Illinois tomorrow. its a power plant lake as well

Chances of your partner hooking up is high. Do it all the time! Your partner needs to cast the correct lure though.
I almost always fish alone as well. I would like to know the same thing!
@@umi415which is????
@tonyb-50 there is no magic lure. Depends on conditions, depth, water clarity and mood of the fish.

What kind of view is that on the ffs ?
Its the $999 Lowrance Eagle Eye 9
👍👍👍👍👍
nice video! I find it hard to see them on Side scan on the GTS54, either way i need to buy a spoon, i dont have 1 lol
The GT56 is a lot better in my experience. Spoons are very fun!

@FishtheMoment , got it. Thank you.
Bro, don't get me started on my favorite lure. I throw a spoon all yr.

@@FishtheMoment okay, let me read that 6 times to figure it out. LOL, thanks man.
Wouldn’t dead sticking a drop shot have the same chance of success as the wacky rigged Senko?
I have a hard time identifying fish in my side scan . I do think it’s an under utilized tool .
If I catch a shark at Sea world how impressive would that be?
Catching a shark period is not impressive
Loved this video until you started scoping, almost puked. Turn your lake into the fish tank at bass pro shops for only 1299.99!
