There are far too many people, especially writers, who are able to recognize good writing, yet seem unable to recognize bad writing. People who seem to genuinely believe that something like The Godfather is a masterpiece (it is), but then also think that Rings of Power was really good and well written. The levels of cognitive dissonance are absurd. There is nothing wrong with enjoying something, regardless of quality. But enjoying something should not take away your ability to acknowledge its flaws. Shows like She-Hulk, Echo, Rings of Power, Robyn Hood, etc... are NOT well written. And in comparison to the original, the live action remake of ATLAB is also poorly written. On the other hand, Frieren is very well written, yet I understand why a lot of people would not enjoy it and find it dull or boring. Same with Vinland Saga season 2. Personally I love both of those.
Yup, really hate Black and White mentality.
It can still be a Good Shows but not enjoyable for some. and a bad show but people can enjoy it.
The Room literally exist, it's bad, that people said it's circling back to good.
IMO, Nope it still bad, then we have Birdemic that fully awful, and probably not as enjoyable as The Room.

Not gonna lie, I got a chuckle out of when the guy said that Frieren is always framed next to Himmel to show their closeness in comparison to her closeness to Heiter and Eisen, and like two seconds later there's a shot of the whole hero party and Heiter is literally between Himmel and Frieren.

14:14 The writers literally don't understand the elves' concept of death in Tolkien's world. Because whenever an elf dies, they are just resurrected after a number of years in the undying lands. So Guyladriel's motivation for her journey is nonsensical and useless if you read the books.
Well, she would need to depart and go to Valinor to meet him again.
A lot of elves in ME never set foot on Valinor and had no desire to leave their homeland.
So the death would essentially cut her away from her brother until the end of 3rd age when elves were given a choice of leave or stay and wither. That is a long time even for an elf
I think Elrond's daughter stayed behind because she is part human herself so she could depart with her love to the outside
Death for elves in all the Age is still a horrible thing. If the elves thought so lightly of death then many stories of 1st age wouldn't happen as they did

you don't need manga spoilers to know Frieren can strugler against demons, she say it hersel in her figth with Aure if her would keep figthing with her soilder insted using her spell then Frieren would run out of mana and that isn't a spoiler Frieren say it in the episode, the only reason she won so easily is because she decive Aura and for the nature of Aura's spell
I hate it that some corporations or groups make the discussions about something else and not about bad writing or bad execution -.-
And RoP was amusingly bad. Sadly not gloriously trashy that it would be a hit. More so, often simple unlikeable.
This ideo is what made me give Frieren a shot and it is definitely up there for anime of the year.
Lets say - Greater Demons present a real danger to Frieren. They are +\- equal to each other (it depends on who will be a bad match to each other). Frieren was a bad match for Aura (in same way Ubel was a bad match for Sence)

But real threat from the demons would be present in season 2
yeah, but Aura is an ACTUAL threat to Frieren. She said herself that if Aura keep being cautious and keep using the number to her advantage she would be in real trouble. Frieren win because she literally baiting Aura to use her special skill that Frieren can counter easily (the scale). Those headless soldier Aura command is no common soldier, each of them is literally heroes of the north. With so many of them it would be very2 difficult even for Frieren.

I will note that this might be the difference between men writing women and women writing women in media targeted towards a male audience. The shows you mentioned are all written by women and all but Saiunkoku, published in magazines targeting a male audience. Where as in the western media a woman or rarely two may be on the team of writers, but they aren't primary and usually out numbered on the team and the heavy handed ‘feminism’ elements are usually pandering and not all that feminist when you compare it to actual feminist theory. That's not to say using all female writers would immediately solve this problem because women still have less experience (due to less opportunity) making them likely to imitate previous success and less power to push back against executive meddling.
For me The Rings of Power had a fantastic 1st episode. Newer before have I been so thoroughly affirmed in my decision of not continuing a series.
Just to point about the dub, idk about the english version but pt-br was quite enjoyable. Only one character that i really think was super off, aside that everything else was very well made.

Rings of Power is a bad written show, and that's an understatement. Galadriel is so annoying and her actions are nonsensical. Frieren is miles better
