  • How to clean the Frigidaire range with air fry. Running the steam clean versus the self-clean function when you’ve air fried and get grease all over your range from air frying. Watch as I try both methods to get my new range clean after only 2 weeks of using it.

    Honestly, steam clean seems to be if your oven/stove top isn't dirty and you think it needs to be cosmetically wiped down with a bit. It's is probably not meant to deep set stains as much as dry stains.. (it's a 'cool' sales feature. I have yet to find a use for it.) Self clean for 2 hours should be MORE than enough. You figure you run steam clean once every so often if AT ALL. Steam doesn't wear you electric controls if you don't use it as a go-to-clean.
    Also you don't have to run it the whole cycle ... I ran mine for about 30 min for a stubborn stain, i just used the lock button override and it got the baked in stain out.

    We just bought one and were excited about trying out the fry option. Unfortunately after watching your and some other videos, I think we are going to pass on using the air fryer. Having dealt with self clean mode and spills before I really don’t want to go through that again. Not to mention how much energy is used by running the self clean. Possibly more than the food cost. With that said I am really not discouraged, it’s still a really nice range. I appreciate you making the video and saving us hours of aggravation.

    Thank you for this video! I just bought a Frigidaire range and wanted to try out the air fry feature. The chicken wings did turn out well, but I was left with a really messy oven. I did what people suggested: putting a baking pan under the air fry tray. I lined the baking pan with aluminum foil and a top layer of parchment paper to prevent smoking.
    It did prevent smoking, so thats good. But I had no idea how bad the oven would look after only using the air fry feature once. I decided to use the steam clean. I wiped the top layer of grease before I put the steam clean on. To me, it didn't seem to do ANYTHING! I am so disappointed! The installers told me not to use the self clean function, they said that the high heat will burn out the electronic panel.
    So the steam clean is useless and the self clean will kill the range. I spent a lot of money on this oven. Very frustrating. I am going to try applying a baking soda and water paste and spray vinegar over all of it and let it sit overnight. I really hope this works.
    C'mon Frigidaire---include the things that are necessary to utilize the air fry feature advertised.
    I paid extra for the air fry tray and now I have to go searching for a super large baking pan to collect the drippings.

      YES!!!! I had to order the air fryer tray from the USA as Canada does not have the one for the 30 inch wall oven. Poor marketing @Frigidaire

    To effectively use steam cleaner functionality it has to be after you have broiled or bake.
    Anything that has set for a long time will not respond to steam clean, you require self cleaning for that.

    Just out of curiosity, have you tried wiping your oven out directly after using it (or after eating the food you cooked, I suppose)? And if that doesn't help, trying the steam clean function at that time, instead of going through several heat/cool cycles as you cook additional meals? The phrase "baked on" comes to mind. . . .

    Thank you so much for this video. I've been trying to find one which actually shows the before and after of a steam clean. I'm hoping that if I steam clean right after cooking that it will clean up better.

    Great video, a rare one where we can see real life results (or lack there of) of steam clean. I'm deciding now do I buy self clean or just steam clean and after this I thing I'm going for self clean.

      Glad it was helpful! I still use the steam clean feature for a quicker cleaning and when I can't open the windows to ventilate well, but if you are air frying self cleaning is a must.

    I had to call Frigidaire when I 1st got my range. The air fryer was smoking up the house during the time that I used it, at least 3 separate occasions. Then Frigidaire reviewers said to use parchment paper. I do & haven’t had an issue with smoke. I love the roasting feature it’s awesome. The griddle is amazing. I’m happy with the range except…Anyone have issues with these sensitive knobs? They move way too easy, leaving gas exposed 🧨 🔥 💥

    How do you get your racks clean if they recommend not leaving them in

    I wanted to know how long the steam clean took. It doesn't tell you in the manual and when you turn it on the time goes up. Started at 6:55 and ended up at 7:10. I wanted to use it but I didn't want to bake with the spills that were on the bottom. You finally said 30 minutes at the end of the video. So I shut it off and was able to get the spill off the bottom in less than 5 minutes. That was very useful.

    awesome video. We have been air frying a lot and each batch kicks up fumes from prior cooks so I needed to get cleaning. Tried the steam clean and like yours was left with a puddle so perhaps that is for in-between cleans as it does not seem to do much. I want to clean the racks as well so I wonder if they can stay in during the self-clean? Same for a couple cookie sheets that need some deep cleaning to get that set in grease off.

    • @amberhollis893
      @amberhollis893  3 роки тому +2

      The steam clean works well for the mess on the bottom of the range. I have not tried leaving the racks in during the cleaning process because the owner's manual says to take them out but I do spray them with the Dawn Power wash and scrub with a green brillo pad and a magic eraser works great on the door.

      Would the Easy off for Non self cleaning ovens work on the racks. I ruined my last wall oven by forgetting to take off the rack protection (pampered chef) while I self cleaned it. That oven we were allowed to leave the racks in. I purchased the self clean Easy off to try to rescue my oven...Nope. Bought this new Frigidaire. Expensive lesson 🤦‍♀️. But I have this in my cupboard. Scared to try it on my new racks🤣

    Hello just got this range, mine produces a lot of smoke and there is a chemical burn like smell . Is this really normal when using the air fry option? I was excited for this feature when I ordered the oven, and now I’m frustrated because it make a lot of smoke :(

    • @amberhollis893
      @amberhollis893  3 роки тому +2

      It is recommended that you run a full self-clean cycle before using the range. Remember when using the Air Fry function that the fan is circulating superheated air if you're air frying very oily or greasy food the grease will be blowing all over your oven causing smoke. You need a large drip pan to cover the entire air fry basket to prevent dripping on the bottom.

    • @astrobot702
      @astrobot702 2 роки тому

      Yes, if its brand new. It's called a burn off but it's best to run a self clean cycle before you use it. It should only have a burn off once. If you're fryer is super dirty than do a steam (to loosen) followed by a self clean

    I was told by the company that I purchased mine from that the steam clean was for light cleaning. Looks like yours needs the the self clean function. Not sure how you are cooking in yours, but I have never had an oven get food or grease splattered all over.

    • @amberhollis893
      @amberhollis893  2 роки тому

      You are correct the steam clean is for VERY light cleaning and mostly on the bottom of the oven. As for the grease splattered all over that is due to the AIR FRY function. That super-charged heated air will most definitely cause greasy food like bacon to splatter grease all over the oven, so you must not have ever had an AIR FRY oven before.

      What Youre doing would be like leaving the dishes on the counter for 2 weeks and then complaining the dishwasher didn’t do a good job. Just put the food straight into a soak or the washer of course!
