Thanks! I like your content so keep it up.
Wow, thanks Matt!! ⭐
I didn't notice this until now. Apologies for the late reply!
Damn. I miss watching your videos. I didn’t know you were still making them. It’s been years!
Same!
First teacher I really pay attention too...
Too?
@@GlendonPerkinsgp I mean, they did say this channel was the first teacher, give ‘em a break!
How have i just found this channel, content and production value is mint!
Im pretty new to settlements in fallout 4 and these videos really help
Good choice dropping in here, Paul got me going with FO4 builds. I would never have hit 2500hrs play in this game without him. Just the best.
You have got be one of my top three fallout UA-camrs, you helped me learn fallout 4 when I first started playing and now you’re helping me relearn fallout 4 again.
You're the best teacher I've ever had.
Always save your first piece of art, it's good to go back and see how far you've come.
Wonderful to see a new video from you, Paul! It is always fascinating to see our old builds and where we are now. I look at some of my original builds and find myself critiquing my younger self on the builds! :D The AI voice is a bit weird, but I think it's a creative workaround for now until you get that new equipment. Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks Ben. Yeah, the AI voice is hopefully a temporary workaround until I can afford a new amp. But I didn't want to delay the videos any longer. ;-)
I used to love these videos. I'm still watching people build settlements.
Pier 39 - San Francisco. I think that's the one that is famous for always having all the sea lions on it? Scoma's on Pier 47 is one of my all time favorite restaurants.
Peir 39 is that touristy bit of the San Francisco waterfront.
You: Oh yeah, there's that dead body I can't seem to get rid of.
Me: *slowly closes door on skeletons in closet
Anyway, great video as usual. I can't believe this is your first build. I'm blown away. I made Kingsport into a groovy ocean-view hotel and garden!
Synth-Paul sounds pretty cool but hopefully we can get the true Paul back some day because you're the real McCoy. 😊 😜
Synth-Paul, LOL. The Institute got to me. But hopefully only temporarily. 😆
Absolutely! Your “Synth voice” is noticeable and, for me… I miss the real Paul’s inflections. BTW.. AWESOME first build!!! Hope your hiatus was successful!
Sweet memories 🤠
That corpse dumping spot is really smart
I found this channel a few days ago. I will see all your videos about fallout. Waiting for the new next gen update to start a new gam in survival mode.
When you mentioned carnival games, was reminded of one of my own builds. Egrit Marina Tours is a fantastic place to build out a kind of boardwalk carnival place. I built it out as a sort of entertainment/tourist destination for people from other settlers. The natural piers make great spots to put up little shops and games. But also one of the things I was most proud of was my bumper car arena. I took building with the dry dock, and glitched a metal ceiling to floor level, then put the bumper cars from Nuka World on the metal "floor" I created.
You can also use the rug glitch to put the spawn point for fast travel to the settlement inside some of the existing buildings you can't normally access, then build in that area to put colored lights behind the boarded up windows that still will show a colored glow outside the building.
I'm blown away by your first attempt, killer video, thanks!
Your videos had me building my trail of in FO4. I wish 76 was as fun with building.
This is so relatable. I still have my first, unmodded and no-DLC, playthrough where I built up EVERY settlement.
Really neat to go to visit them sometimes and see what I was envisioning at the time. I even mimiced Jug's concrete tower build and placed it on Spectacle Island. Good times~
always delighted for paul's videos
I missed these videos so much. I recently started digging back into FO4 and I’ll never forget when and where I learned the wireless glitch!! I’ve been following you since about 15k subs and I can’t wait to see this channel grow more :) keep up the great work!
Since 15K? Noice!
I love the lighted posters for brightening things up. Makes a big difference.
humble beginnings.... Looks amazing even if its your first build. Can't say the same for mine xD
Some of my favorite settlements to build are the ones where there's an already existing piece of flooring to snap to, like at Abernathy Farm(left side of the porch), Tempines Bluff(left side of the settlers house, through the floor with either of the two checkered pieces of flooring that can snap through other objects), Outpost Zimonja(back left side of the upper floor), Finch Farm(right where the front porch steps are), Egret Tours Marina(upper floor, a piece of checkered flooring can snap to the small piece of flooring of the little outpost), National Park visitor's center(you can snap to a couple different spots, but where I start is inside to the flooring that the ladder is attached to), etc..., but my favorite settlement to build is probably Murkwater Construction Site(I turn what's left of the shack into my quarters, I pillar glitch concrete walls in, snap shack foundations to those concrete walls, then I build a 3 storey fortress on top of it), it becomes a Minutemen headquarters, but I build most of my settlements to withstand Settlement Ambush attacks, my favorite exploit, and the best settlement I've found to use The Settlement Ambush Kit at is Somerville Place, most of the time the enemies spawn right behind the house, box that area in and you'll be making caps, getting legendary gear, plasma grenades, and infinite steel and ammo to sell for shipments or whatever legendary gear you want to buy
Looks really good 👍
That means a lot coming from a fellow master!
I've missed these! And you. And builds
same
My Xbox has been out of commission for the past year or so, so I haven't been able to play my copy of Fo4 for quite a while.
Whenever I'm able to get it fixed, I think this video might have given me some ideas to try on my own.
Glad to see you back. Alot of my favorites personal builds were in thanks to things I learned through you. Really improved a game that I'd already been enjoying for years. Welcome home bud
Nice to see u post again, been a while
Back to Fallout 4!!! I just started playing again hurray!!! Take some of my luck for the new year! 🎉 lots of hugs for your mom- went through that with my grandma several years ago. Be well ☮️
I’ve learned a lot watching all your fallout 4 build videos for about a year and a half now. You definitely skooled me in the skooled zone! Watching your videos brought me back into playing the game once again. Thank you for creating all your amazing creations.
Glad to hear that 😁
@@SkooledZone thank you for your reply. I’m also new yo UA-cam interaction and any UA-cam. I would like to send a video of my red rocket build but I don’t know how to do that in here as well 😅. I use to have Instagram but will be creating a new account, that’s the only way I know how. I’ve pretty much used all your skooled zone videos to make my player home/settlement build. If interested and if you have an IG account, I will look you up and add you once I create my new page and show my love and support there as well.
Thanks again. Stay safe.
Definitely looking forward to Starfield No Modds Shop Class!
Hi Skooled Zone I really love the way you did your build at the lighthouse , when I did mine it was awful == but your is the best. Just got done watching #62? of nuka world before this and OMG you did an amazing play and all that you had in your inventory , just gave me an better way of playing and to make sure of having items in mine == plus watching your builds & playthroughs So thank you for your ways of playing FO4😊
I’m so glad you’re still making videos. I watched all your videos when I started building settlements anyways I’m now playing on the PlayStation five so I’m doing a new play through on fallout four and all of my old settlements are on the PS4 so now I’m rebuilding and it’s been about five or six years since I played the game and I forgot a lot of the chicks and tips that you taught me so I’m going back and re-watching everything hours and hours and hours I spent building and now on the PS five so far I have not had any frame rate drops or crashing not yet though I have yet to finish a settlement I’m just starting at the sanctuary and I do use mods mainly just for building but thank you for all of your tips and tricks. It really has helped me.
I didn't notice any voice change to start with, but as it went on I really noticed it, still acceptable until you get your new rig though and definitely better than no uploads at all from you. 👍
Exactly! 😉
Glad to see you're still posting 😁!
Hey! He's back. Hope the project you were working on went well & provides the opportunity you were seeking.
Kingsport & the Visitor's Center were heartbreaking early on when building settlements because of the irreparable roofs. Maybe that's a lesson which was being passed along. Work with the flaws & incorporate them.
If you don't want a settler in your bed, assign a guard to "your" bed. The guards never sleep, so while the bed is counted as used, it will never be occupied.
Lastly - Pier 39, where Kingsport Lighthouse meets the bay to play.
Good old days, GODSPEED!
Nice, I liked the dock lighting 💡
Gosh I love these videos
Most educational video of all time.
Very nice, especially for a long-ago first build!
Here's the issue with the guard with the broadsider: he's scripted to stand at his work assignment, which is the guard post. The guard post is under the mesh floor. So yes, he sinks through that floor pie to stand on the guard post. In Fallout 4, with mods of course, you can turn off physics on decorative items so even if a deathclaw gave it a mighty whack, it isn't going to move.
For PC users, if you get one of those bugged sparks (you were doing playing with the wireless glitch weren't you?) there is a mod which will get rid of them. Even ones that have become permanent. It's called something like Wirespark Bug Fixer. Also, that wireless glitch breaks power grids and those power grid errors will cause a lot of crashes in settlements. There are mods that will repair or destroy bad grids so you can use your settlement again. Just don't use wireless glitching in the first place, but if you do, there are mods to undo the damage.
I love your channel man. Amazing videos!
Thank you, I'm eager to see what the future yields with this channel. I love the content, as does the rest of my household. Your tips got my fiancè to try building again and she is as eager as I've ever seen her, I appreciate the motivation.
Nice! Well, thanks to you both for watching.
Honestly, I found that much more interesting then the Finch Farm or Graygarden tours. Felt more like an actual settlement, which for me I guess is important.
How are you not at 1 mil yet?! My husband and I started watching your *no mods shop class* like 4 days ago. We have already learned SO MUCH and are actually enjoying settlement building now. Whereas before it was tedious and disappointing how it always turned out looking bad no matter what, now our settlements are looking so much better and we’re enjoying the creative process. I wish we had found you years ago when we first started playing; you’ve really opened our eyes to the full possibilities of the game. Bethesda should be paying you lol.
I really appreciate that Samantha. I wonder about the 1 mil sometimes too. But it's probably because Fallout 4 is an old game. I'm hoping Starfield this fall jump starts the channel again.
@@SkooledZone my husband wants that game, so we’ll definitely be tuning in for all the tips and tricks lol.
i remember watching your videos way back
Glad you still swing by! :-)
Very good for a first build!
Welcome back, Paul!
That perching brahmin was just too funny 😂
I know, right? Just sitting there like a cat, lol.
Paul it is great to see you back.
Thanks man. Glad to be back!
The masta is back!
I’m glad you’re back. I still think you sound like John Denver. 😁
Hilarious. Never heard that one before. I usually get Matthew McConaughey or Owen Wilson.
I hope you find the best in your life and may you prosper.
I love your videos. Your videos are so entertaining, literally my favorite UA-camr
Wow, thank you!
AI voice doesn't sound too bad. A little uncanny valley, but sounds natural most of the time. What platform did you use? I've experimented with a lot of them.
Also, the bowling alley looks pretty cool.
Bro that's insane... I was just listening with headphones and during the tour it totally sounded like an ai... like just on the ends of some phrases and a quite subtle hint of digital modulation in certain words giving that uncanny valley. Does he actually say it's an ai or did you just figure it out?
@@ripmurdock6975 Both, lol. I've worked with a bunch of AI voice cloning tools, so I noticed certain things. Yeah, the way some sentences flow together and also, anytime he tries to add humor. He did mention it a couple of times, like near the end when he talks about his broken mic.
@@john_blues There was also the laughing out loud moment...
Rip, I actually mentioned it near the beginning. You may have skipped the "PSA" ;-) ua-cam.com/video/1c8Adxk7QMM/v-deo.html
If you place rugs down on top of the areas that are unstable it should stop your settlers from sinking through the floor.
I didn't notice the difference in your voice until you reached the kitchen waw
The build was beautiful i liked it
Pier 39 - San Francisco?
I'd be interested in seeing how you wired up the pier/dock area - are there wires under the floor, or are they hidden somewhere else? It looks amazing
There are some wires under the floors. But I ended up adding some extra generators on the lower docks to save the wiring hassle.
I love your videos sir, thank you for entertaining us.
Hey Paul,
I don't post videos but if you rug glitch the clean round TV inside Shaun's round memorial I think it makes a cool institute style television.
Totally didn’t notice the voice, until you pointed it our - now i can hear all the odd infections 😂 - Still an awesome video though
Haha, yeah I didn't think it would fool anyone. I was hoping it wouldn't be noticeable but at least it's just a temporarily solution.
The best thing I did with my build at this settlement was to construct a warehouse stairway from the second level of the house directly to the top level of the Lighthouse. I HATED doing the spiral staircase climbing LOL. SO much simpler!
Very cool to see how you got the Build Bug way back. Love all your little details you put in for various reasons.
I will say that AI voice was ...ummm... interesting 😅
Pier 39? That's pretty famously San Francisco... though not sure if that's the reference you're making.
I have a video of one of my first large-scale builds and had a look back at it. It was about 90% vanilla as I was doing the achievements at the time and completed them during the build. I never completed it though, as I went well over the build limit and had a lot of settlers. It turned my PS4 into a jet powered potato lol.
The ai voice is odd, I hope your stuff gets sorted soon. It's always awesome to see a vid from you! Skooled zone is a must have any time i boot fallout 4
I hope so too!
Wow I never made anything near as good. I honestly don't have the patience and get annoyed with bugs and glitches but I think you just inspired me to do a little bit more than the bare minimum. LOL
That's exactly what I hope my video do, help ease the frustration and inspire! :)
"...maybe a whale watching deck." *looks at the Prydwyn* LOL
your voice brings back so much nostalgia and comforts me very much
wait its an ai voice i didnt even notice
Haha, well guess it works then. ;-)
Nice to see you. How's your writing career going? Hope your well!
Thanks for asking! I'm almost 3/4ths the way through. I'll definitely keep the class updated.
Hi! I only started Fallout a couple weeks ago, specifically for the settlements, on a recommendation of a friend. I’m about 60 hours in and only saved Nick, if that explains anything (did do what looks like all the side quests in the north).
Anywho… I love your settlements series, it helps a lot. I’m starting my first proper build at Abernathy farm with a large farmhouse. I’m wondering if you have any tips for 1) inside walls with doors and 2) fireplaces.
I’m trying wood and concrete mix (for nice doors and windows) to give it a rustic, but not junky feel.
But the difference in height is making it hard on the inside second floor (outer walls don’t seem to have the same issue. Also having a hard time snapping walls to make corners without taking out the floor below (a pain with the wood concrete floors).
As for the fireplace I have one, but not really loving it.
I still have not mastered the two glitches yet, so that is a handicap at the moment.
So if you have examples of either in your videos to point me to, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you for all you do!
Wow, the AI is impressive. I thought it was actually you until you mentioned. Figured your UA-cam vacay made your usual form of narration rusty. 👍
Haha, nice. Yeah, way rusty. Like synth rusty. 😄
I stopped building elaborate base’s because of trap homes.
I used to go to other players base camp but it got annoying with the constant traps so real players have them outside.
My fallout 4 base was basically how many automatic turrets I can pack in so I don’t need to defend it constantly and walkways to the sky without support.
I hat Preston.
Omg haha I haven't watched you in years lol what's good dude
Haha, well glad you come back to visit. ;-)
@@SkooledZone I would love to see se c.a.m.p content for fallout 76 on your channel if your not too busy that is but all the same I still love the content and after 3 years I actually loaded up fallout 4 just too build something cool
@@keyframe8116 I created a FO76 building playlist: bit.ly/BASE-CAMP
However, I haven't played the game in a couple years so it's a lot of old stuff.
@@SkooledZone you legend you thanks man I'm just gonna go binge this playlist for a while haha
Paul, any word about the book? Baited breath over here!! 😄😄😄
Thanks for asking. I'm at about the 3/4th mark, which is not bad. Slow and steady, but that wins the race. ;-)
I hope you make more videos
How did you put one of the paintings into the desktop frame? I’m sure I saw it on another one of your videos. And like you, I’ve no mods apart from the Creation Club ones, although not all of them. Hope someone that knows sees this! Thanks again for your great videos, they did me well during my first playthrough, now 5 years later, I’m enjoying them all again!
I can't remember which video I showed that either, but for those, you have to drag them from other settlements.
@@SkooledZone I found one in the Nuka Cola world! I thought you made them somehow, I bet your channel is doing really well now everyone is playing Fallout 4 again. I love your videos, I wish it was easier to find the right ones, but that’s on YT.
Glad you're back! The deepfake voice does sound a little robot-ish, but whatever gets the job done, right?
Exactly. And hopefully it's just a temporary solution.
whats the audio amp you had that went out?
Awesome! Just saw that you're back!
The No Mods Shop Class is great! I already knew a couple of tricks but your channel helped big time to expand my creative settlement building skills.
I have to make a video to show you my "Star Destroyer" build that I did before I discovered the channel. It's a massive spaceship.
Hmm.... I do not like the AI commentary, though.
In fact, I hate it. Sorry, buddy. Only got 15 minutes into this one. Can't listen to that robot anymore.
was there ever a finished home plate video? I looked on the channel, yet could not find one
Not yet. I've done a couple update videos but that's going to be one of my final epic tours.
Do you know whether any of your glitches are patched with the new update? I tested the main ones like the rug, pillar, and basic wire ant they work but do things like the floating turret still work?
Everything should still work unless you have mods installed. Sometimes they interfere.
@@SkooledZone thank you
cries in wanting to read book ALSO IM ON THE WALL NOW
Fisherman’s wharf reference or pier 39 imports?
You got it!
As you get into the settlement tour, the voice clone becomes more obvious. It has the exact same tone and cadence for every sentence. But it still (mostly) sounds like you!
Yeah, it's definitely a "Synth Paul" voice, lol.
Hey Paul! Missed you man. How’s the book coming along??
On a side note, thought the point of the Light house was to make it a “Light” House?
Why did you leave it dark??
It’s a unique settlement and beautiful when lit up. I’m kinda disappointed teacher.
Lol 😆
Hey, thanks for comment. The book is coming along well. Slow and steady!
And yeah, I forgot to mention that I added an "ice cream" cone to the top of the lighthouse instead of more lights, lol.
You should make a baseball field. I’ve always wanted to, and I’ve tried so many times but I’m just not as good at making things glitch to look right. The best location seems to be nuka world red rocket, but I just cannot get a baseball field that looks right.. we have all the bases and stuff, and build items to make decent dugouts, but making the fence is what really gets me. It’s just not flat enough, and it looks all uneven and wonky and horrible really.
Neat idea. This video may help: ua-cam.com/video/Emv1ZfOOFdQ/v-deo.html
Today I started to play fallout 4 for the first in about 5 years. I’ve totally forgot how to play it. I’ve started a new world to get hang of the controls then I’m gonna go back to my original gameplay.
Edit: was gonna go back to my old game play but I’ve deleted by mistake 🤦🏼♀️ totally lost everything I grinded for and I was about 70% complete so I’m back to the start.. I feel sick thinking about all the stuff I’ve lost 😮
I hate when that happens. I had a major game glitch during my early Fallout days and I lost so many hours of game time. Ug.
@@SkooledZone I messed about with the mods when they first came out but I prefer to it without, I thought I was deleting the modded saves turns out I wasn’t 🙈
I think you should use that deepfake voice theft technology and do interviews with fictional characters like Degoth Ur.
That's a pretty hilarious idea actually.
@@SkooledZone there are some good ones that are real funny that people have done with Morrowinds Degath Ur. There's also some not so funny ones. I feel like there are some real funny characters from The Fallout franchise that would be entertaining to have interviewed. For instance; the ever chipper ghoulified Moira Brown after the player set off the bomb in Megaton.
@@SkooledZone or possibly better yet; an interview with Preston Garvey after the sole survivor betrays him in the Nuka World DLC quest line.
And if you do this, you have to go back and go through episodes of In Living Color to steal the should have been voice of Tinker Tom from Damon Wayan
September 6 Starfield...PLEASE?...And Thank you.
I inadvertently settlement size glitched from day 1 without ever watching vids or knowing about it lmao so I think I have basically unlimited space at sanctuary
Also yeah the voice is lowkey creepy but it’s close enough that it took a few minutes to notice. It’s mostly a cadence thing
the institute got to him
After all these years, Paul, and you still think walls matter in an attack. Only if you’re close enough to beat attackers in the wall. If you’re at Murkwater and Kingsport gets attacked, enemies will be in the wall, especially if you fast travel instead of just sprinting.
I know what you're saying but the spawn points for Kingsport are outside the walls. Never had a single attack inside the walls.
😂 👍😎
The AI audio isn't all that bad. There are a few points that sound uncanny, but most if it works pretty well.
That's good to hear! It's a temporary solution until I can afford a new amp, but I'm glad it's not too distracting.
a question. Is the narration AI generated? It all sounds like you until you get to 7:50 where it switches to AI speech, or text to deep fake speech. Go back to 7:30 and let the video run to see what I mean.
EDIT: I skipped some of the video intro so missed the explanation.
Hehe, looks like you answered your own question. Also, see here: ua-cam.com/video/d_68IvU85Mc/v-deo.html
Hello
