Yea, it definitely shows that they originally didn't even intend to make settlement building an actual thing. Did you know tho' that you can make objects touch a doormat or other types of rugs and then you can hold E to move the entire thing together with the doormat. It makes it much easier to fit in things that normally don't wanna clip together or are generally being a pain to put on the spot you want.

At 1:12:00 A tip with mixing Scaffolding is that the scaffolding floors will snap to small floor pieces from other sets (either 1x1 or 1x2) pieces found in the concrete, barn or warehouse floor sets however they do not snap to the full size floor pieces so you sometimes need to snap a small floor alongside to then be able to place a scaffolding floor in line with a large floor piece.

Love this build! Even after 1000 hours I still like to mix it up: go adventuring a bit, just to get resources and skill points, lol, and then return and build. I go slowly without regard to Preston. I build out one after another in the Northwest and gradually expand. Oberland and Taffington are my first two where I break out of that core area.

The clipping there is so inexplicably frustrating that I was resorting to rug-tricking everything into place so I just bit the bullet and threw in a place anywhere mod. Entirely because of Oberland. Your persistence is very impressive, and the result was worth all the frustration.

1:42:55 Yeah, that happens in Sanctuary sometimes too, that some companion, do some glitch and then walks around on the roof and can't come down (sometimes), if there is no stairs, that companion can use to get down.

Preston loves to walk around on roofs, he does it all the time in my settlements too 😆

Really enjoying these first two videos and looking forward to the next ones, subscribed! It looks like you're using the Enter key to place things but I'm pretty sure I figured out yesterday (accidentally, for the record) that you can use the "E" key to place and grab things instead of reaching across for the Enter key. I've got about 24 hours into my first game and I'll be I've spent double that just reading the wiki and watching youtube videos on how everything works. Loving this game and looking forward to learning everything but holy cow do they make you WORK for it! Can't wait for the next video!

16:50 Pause the video at this point, one several spawn points at the large tree on the right corner. Another spawn point 25:49 is the tree on the left of the screen.

Something to try that I tried and fell in love with is using the wire fence with picket fence posts.

You need Place Everywhere mod and Scrap Everything, I just found your channel and I really love it

Place Everywhere is good, but Scrap Everything breaks stuff and will lead to your game crashing/save corruption.

There are ways to do what you want without mods. Skooled zone has tutorials from beginner to master

@@WebShaman01 I use the "Spring Cleaning" mod. I have ran the game for hundreds of hours with several dozen other mods and I didn't have any crashing issues. The only problem with Spring Cleaning is that it makes some natural floors unusable; like the floor in the "guard tower" in Oberland for example can't be placed on. Otherwise it is great! You can get rid of pretty much everything.

@@Pancake_Nix It "breaks" how the cell spawns things, which leads eventually to cell corruption, and then the save(s). Especially noticeable on PS4/5, but it can happen to PC as well. It's a well documented occurence. As I have thousands of hours on both PC and PS4/5, I can assure you that it will eventually bork your game.

Oberland station is one of my favourite settlements. I love making a small farming community here.

I love your design. Definitely fallout chic. There are a few tips and tricks you might find useful in building without mods. I highly recommend the UA-cam channel Skooled Zone for his No Mods Shop Class series. Lots of good stuff there.
One quick tip I find useful is understanding the selection priority with group select. Group select prioritizes best on the last item you individually selected. So, if you want to move a structure, select a foundation, then deselect it, then group select and the entire structure will place based on that foundation. I hope this tip helps. Keep up the great work!

Good stuff. I like how you made it cozy. I very rarely get cozy right but, barracks and military-styled stuff I do well. I'm at 16 posted settlements, 4 of them being Brotherhood (1 Ghoul, 1 Railroad, 2 Unaffiliated, 8 Minutemen).
