Hi everybody! Thanks for watching. If you're interested in buying the K70 RGB Pro, I've put an Amazon link in the description. Additionally, if you already one a K70 RGB Pro, let me know what your user experience has been like with this keyboard. Thanks!
I’ve had mine for quite a while now and after lubing and changing to tighter keycaps and at least a year of break in period my ping sound is completely gone. But yes it was exactly like this when I first got it and I hid to mod it to get what I wanted but still worth it imo.
thank you for your honest review on the K70 PRO. i just got one recently thinking it would replace my HyperX Alloy with tactile switches, but i felt that the pinging on the keyboard was big no from me. i thought it was only my K70, but im surprised to see so many people still talking about it to this day. by any chance have you thought about adding foam to your K70 internally to try and reduce the pinging sound? i hear from some keyb enthusiasts that its an effective way of reducing that sort of noise and was thinking of giving it a try
I did a little research into the foam mod, but honestly it might be a bit too above me. I also wonder how much it comes down to the red switches vs brown? I feel lik emy Cooler Master kb with brown switches doesn't have the noise, but then again it's a different brand/model. My ducky with red silent switches has a slight ping but not nearly as bad. I think Corsair should have done a lot better with removing that ping sound, and I wonder if they banked on people having headphones on most of the time so they wouldn't notice . . . Thanks for watching and the comment!
@fede4justice Hey man, I've also got the same model, so I've ordered some foam to place in the bottom. I'm not aware of the tape mod though. What does that involve?
I also got one with brown switches and it was like church bells going off (well, slight exaggeration) so I had to send back. Wondering if their OPX switches would be the same as I did like the keyboard apart from that...
I should've seen this video before buying this keyboard, I own the keyboard for 3 days now and the pinging is horrendous, it is so loud I can hear it through my headphones
@@MiddleofKnowhere I also have the brown switches, it's about 25% less noisy when it's placed ontop of a mouse mat but still noticeable through the headphones when typing, while doing a WPM test with this thing is on the level of earbleeding when you average 100 WPM, I didn't expect to have this kind of problem from my first mechanical keyboard.
I got it with OPX and its so loud its like wtf I bet my neighbors can hear it when I type... I wish I can do something about all that noise. For gaming its super responsive and fast tho!
@@venk11 3 months later, still loud as fk, the only difference being that I got used to it, I'm able to mentally suppress the noise, when I actively listen for it it's painful.
@@kylexrex I am thinking to buy logitech pro x you think it would be more silent then this one? I am also thinking to get a wireless numpad and just stick it with super glue on logitech to make it full size. If this one is too loud I could change the switches with silent blacks and it will be good I think
I am still using my 5 year old K70 RGB MK.2 Cherry MX Low Profile Silent keyboard. The keycaps are still holding up well with no wear or chipping. But I do not play high impact FPS-type games (mainly MMO's/open world) so maybe that is why the switches are still fine. I have to be honest I have never seen keycaps suffering chipping wear before like you have shown. Was something dropped on the keyboard?
You know it's possible. I honestly don't remember when the chips happened. The original K70 RGB does not appear to have double-shot caps, not that that is a bad thing. Overall I was super happy with my time with the K70 RGB. The thing is 8 years old and the W and S switches are starting to go off. I play ESO and I was essentially somersaulting all over the place because even though I had the key down, the KB thought I was releasing it and double-pushing (to make the dodge roll happen).
@@MiddleofKnowhere Absolutely. Once the key switches themselves start dying there isn't much you can do about it unless they are pluggable or you have the skill to resolder and replace them. You got 8 years out of it so very good value for money. I have no idea how long my KB will last but the Corsair keyboard line are built like tanks. Actually I still have an 11 year old Coolermaster CMStorm QuickFire Pro but I keep it as a backup as it has Cherry MX blue switches which are very noisy. Mechanical keyboards are a deep rabbit hole. :)
I am still using it but I think I want to replace it with a ducky one 3 keyboard. I’m using a one 2 with silent switches for work and love it. Has to be the best typing experience I’ve ever had.
In the last year, no. I think I’m gonna buy that ducky one 3 this autumn. That or the ducky shine. Haven’t fully decided. I actually like the silent switches. They are nice.
Thank you for the review. I just accidently broke my control button on my 2015 RGB Pro Lux and I was very disappointed to learn I couldn't swap the broken switch out without soldering. It is also very very disappointing to hear from you that the new version of our awesome keyboard has an annoying ping noise and lacks the same parts it came with before the pandemic. This sounds like another instance of a company cutting costs after 2020 by using cheaper materials and removing previously supplied items. I've tried a couple cheaper Amazon KB's but the pinging noise in those is horrendous just like you mentioned in this video. I may switch to a membrane KB if the K70 is crap now.. 💔
I was super disappointed as well. For work, I've been using the Ducky One2 with silent switches I bought about 4 years ago. I love it and it is easily the most comfortable typing experience I've ever had. I intend to get the One 3 (this version has hot swap switches). The One 2's body is super solid, it seems like cat fur and dust have a harder time getting into the keys, and the lighting is fantastic. My only gripe is a lack of wrist rest. I highly recommend it: www.duckychannel.com.tw/en Cost wise, I think they are about as much as the corsair one. You can find them on amazon, but I bought mine from here: mechanicalkeyboards.com/collections/ducky
@@MiddleofKnowhere I'm glad to hear you found something nice! Corsair has me hooked on the media buttons and volume roller so I just ordered a Razer Deathstalker V2. Low profile optical keys and has hot swappable keys. I'll try a Ducky next if the Razer doesn't work out 👍
I have a question completely unrelated to this video, and instead relevant to your asus rog b550 f gaming bios installation. I built a pc using this motherboard, but when trying to install the bios, the green light doesn’t blink, and instead remains lit. I followed the steps on your tutuorial and can’t find the problem. Any chance you can help?
I have the optical version and I'm not really sure what the pinging noise you're talking about is, so it might not be an issue. However, I didn't hear it in your video either, so I'm not sure if it's just me lol
That is a great question. You'd think there'd be some quality control or a Product Manager, would be like, "that, that isn't acceptable." I ended up keeping the keyboard and it's pretty nice for the most part, but that metallic ping is still very present. I have a Ducky One 2 KB as well and it also has some of the ping (Also red switches but I believe silent). It's not as bad. I will say the Ducky KB is amazing! Just no wrist rest.
For me, the ping noises would come from typing in general. It's lessened over time, and also I don't hear it with headphones on, but just typing this comment, I can hear it somewhat. I think if I, or anyone else, were to have a mouse mat (something soft) it would absorb some of the hits and lessen the ping.
My Ducky One 2 is very quiet comparatively and a joy to type on with the Cherry MX Silent switches. I like the clack clack noises, but the ping sounds from this Corsair are annoying.
