- On this episode of Canned Goods, we are covering one of the MANY canceled Disney movies. In the 2000s, Disney Animation was going to make a story of Romeo, Juliet, and Ghosts. A strange voodoo tale. That story was going to be called A Few Good Ghosts (or at some point in development, My Peoples).

im so upset that this never came out... I wish they still went through with it even tho the studio closed. I hope we will see more info/pics/clips from this one day. I needdd it
I hate that this was replaced with chicken little. I would of loved to see this.
They had to go with Chicken Little instead of My Peoples because of that Native American doll.
@@Jtaylor1 they probably could've redesigned him
Fun fact: In an earlier version of Chicken Little, there would be no aliens and Chicken Little was a girl. The story would follow a female chicken suffering from paranoia who, as a result, caused several panic outbreaks in her hometown. Not only becomes a freak to the town, but becomes unforgiven to her father. In order to build her confidence, she was sent to a summer school known as Camp Yes-You-Can where she met her friends who were the same as in the final product, although the Ugly Ducking was at this point a male. Unbeknownst to Chicken Little and her friends, the sheep who ran the camp were wolves in disguise who were plotting to eat all of the students. Chicken not must fave her fears to become a hero, but must proove her dad she can make him proud. A basic Coming-of-Age story that Disney later scrapped.
Me too, but I can't believe that it's been more than 20 years since my people/a few good ghosts got cancelled, I hope Disney revive this movie
They cancelled this for Chicken Little?! That's gotta be the biggest regret Disney has about that era considering they now pretend Chicken Little doesn't exist and also was a low point in how they were badly jumping on the bandwagon of making Shrek-like movies with the meta fairy tale comedy. Probably speculating but I truly believe that had they made this they would have had another renaissance and kickstarted many of their recent fairytale movies way early (think Tangled or Frozen in 2009) as oppose to those long dry years we got in the mid to late 00's.

@@kittykittybangbang9367 That would've been way better!
Well, they learned their lesson.
@@kittykittybangbang9367 Another fun fact: David Stainton asked Mark Dindal to re-write the story because he thought it needed a different approach. What followed was the team rewriting and redoing the entire movie over the course of a few months.
I really wish this hadn't been canceled, it looked amazing.
It's such a unique concept, honestly. Its shocking that we still haven't seen a movie try to go for that hybrid 2D/3D since then (unless I'm forgetting).
@@HemmasStudios_ There's a good chance I might be forgetting as well [knowing my memory], but I don't believe I've seen anything that's hybrid 2D/3D.
@@HemmasStudios_ true
@@HemmasStudios_ And that angel doll looked so cute!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story with everyone! I was very fortunate to have been a part of Disney Feature Animation Florida in the 1990’s and remember the talks about this project.
It is such a shame that this project has yet to see the light of day, but then films like The Little Mermaid were in the works for decades before they saw the light of day! Keep hoping someone at Disney is watching!
Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
I didn't even know this film existed until just a few minutes ago. Such a shame this unique and very personal story was canned in favor of another film trying to chase the success of Shrek, Oh well.
Nice video. It's kinda shame that Disney shuts down traditional animation and dismantle CAPS except for 1 CAPS computer. If Disney revives the CAPS source code and make a Disney+ hand-drawn short, then I'm fine with that. I would love to see Disney making a hand-drawn movie that features a hybrid of 2D/3D animation in the future. Good thing we have Space Jam: A New Legacy since that movie features a hybrid of 2D/3D animation with 2D animated characters being animated in CG. So we should all thank Warner Brothers for this. :)
The film was initially scheduled for a late 2002 release, but then it was delayed to spring 2003, then to 2004, and finally a 2006 release. However, according to an article the film would’ve been released in 2005.
I prefer it’s second title, Once in A Blue Moon.
I want a movie like this a movie with 3D and 2D animation I NEED THAT I’m sad it got cancelled
Make a fanfiction about it then or a fan animation.
I would rather have another adaptation of romeo and juliet than that crap ass adaptation of chicken little. Especially with as good as that story sounds.
We coulda got an Appalachian animated movie, but we got fuckin Chicken Little
And Meet the Robinsons
Thank you so much for this information on what could've been a highly appraised movie. Very sad it didn't go according to plan and I hope someone thinks of a similar idea for a movie in the mere future.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'd love for them to resurrect something like this on Disney+ at some point in the future!
2:51 I wish they would have told the reason why Angel didn't want to bring the lovers together
Maybe she tells like they weren't meant to be or wants to stay out if the feud.
I would’ve loved to watch this. Its too bad it never saw the light if day.
I am devastated this never went through with this. Instead of these ridiculous live action remakes, why don't they go through these old cancelled ideas?
Man, this could have been a classic
You know something about this. I felt like it would have been a great time for Disney to focus on it, while working on other upcoming projects, such as A Day with Wilbur Robinson (the original title from a book by William Joyce but renamed to Meet the Robinsons) initially slated for a 2006 release when development begin in 2002 and production begin in June of 2004, American Dog (Bolt’s original title and production, slated for a summer 2007 or 2008 release), Rapunzel Unbraided (the working title Disney Animation was working on and was initially slated for a 2007 release but pushed up to a 2009 release before being canceled and turned into Rapunzel to Tangled), and Toy Story 3 from Circle 7 Animation, slated for a spring 2008 release. A shame Disney had to switch it to Chicken Little with Mark Dindal, but if it wasn’t for Chicken Little’s bad performance and the reviews from critics and audiences via Rotten Tomatoes, then maybe this movie would likely come to fruition and would often be released and to grow more fans for nostalgic to memories to memes, etc.
This movie would’ve combined CGI and traditional animation but sadly after troubles, this movie was scrapped in favor of Chicken Little as executives believed that it would be more popular and would attract audiences. According to this article Some folks will tell you that it just came down to the
fact that “Chicken Little” had far better name recognition than “My Peoples”
AKA “Angel and Her No Good Sister” AKA “A Few Good Ghosts.” Which is why Disney
then decided to press ahead with production of that Mark Dindal movie rather
than continuing with Cook’s film.
I believe they should try to make this again, using the same tactics to be made, and should go on disney+
I'd LOVE for that to happen
It won't happen. If that were to happen, there would be an outage from Native American Organizations and social media because of that Native American doll.
@@Jtaylor1 We will never know
........I hope it gets brought back so badly.
I feel like Disney+ would be perfect for it
Hemmas Studios there’s rumours that might be happening
@@furrettheferret9562 really?? where'd you hear that?

Aren't they able to try it again or Can't we no longer bring canceled movies back
They definitely can try again, its just a matter of if they want to!
@@HemmasStudios_ will Disney ever think of the fans
I agree with all of you and I also think why disney never used 2d and 3d animation in the same movie
Hi nice video man
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
Maybe we can go back in time so we can Cancelled Chicken Little in favor of A Few Good Ghost can we if we had a time machine
If Disney return to make this movie it would be awsome but chicken little is a bad movie is not fun chicken little is stupid for me (sorry who love this movie really) Walt Disney pictures present My peoples is awsome is a good movie this is better than chicken little
So was Meet the Robinsons and Bolt
Can you please make a video about kingdom of the sun the original Emperor's new groove ???
I can definitely add it to the list :P
This can still be made today if they really wanted. But I guess they thought this story won’t do well.
This movie would've been so good!
Maybe Disney could repurpose the idea as a Disney Plus original.
You know that the director of chicken little mark dindal is going to directed a CGI animated Garfield movie by Sony Pictures and Alcon Entertainment coming out in theaters next memorial day weekend 2024 it will stars Chris Pratt as the voice of Garfield who also voiced Mario in the super mario bros movie by illumination!😃😀🙂
What if this movie came out and it sucked and we saw clips of chicken little and thought that was awesome
Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons and Bolt were some of Disney's worst CG films during that decade
I got to agree with Chicken Little, but I can't lie- I really like Meet the Robinsons and LOVE Bolt.
@@HemmasStudios_ with two boring (similar) villains without defeats
@@davidcortina9898 That's a hard no for the last two.

@@myaedelman I cry in that movie
