    Ok so this will only cover the Color and not matching the texture. I had this same issue a couple times and learned how to fix it more properly. First, thin down your joint compound by like a lot. Don’t put it on thick. Use the tip of a 2 inch paint brush to dap on the patch. You may need a few coats for full coverage. The goal is to keep the patch as flat as possible. And if you want a perfect fix, Buy some popcorn texture from Home Depot, usually less than $20. Thin that down again and get some material on the paint brush, now, instead of dapping, you’ll flick the tip of the brush to have the spray on effect like using a hopper. This should get you a very close match to the original finish.

    This guy has no idea what he’s doing. That would not work on a larger area. I do this for a living and this is not how you do it. Use drywall compound and mix your paint in the compound to thin it out and match color. Get a stab brush for local hardware store. Harry homeowner this will work for but it’s not the correct way. As soon as someone slams a door hard that crap will fall out unless he gets lucky.

    • @alwayslearningdiy
      @alwayslearningdiy 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the feedback. Five minute fix and going on five years and counting. Not sure why a small dab lightly brushed on would fall. Just covering color not correcting texture

    • @0xSpiff
      @0xSpiff 20 днів тому

      This is obv for small touch-ups, why do you assume he meant to use this technique for larger areas? Sure, your process is prob the correct way to do things but it's way overkill for most tiny paint mess-ups.

    That’s great. I’m trying to do the same thing but the holes that I put in my French cleat that mounts to the TV itself, is crooked. So the piece of wood is crooked that is mounted on the TV. How did you reference the screw holes?

    • @alwayslearningdiy

      I set the piece of wood parallel to the tv screw holes. Marked the top of the wood where the screw holes were. Then I came down to the center of the wood below the marks. I also measure how many inches from one tv hole to the other. Center to center to double check it. Does that make sense?

    • @alwayslearningdiy
      @alwayslearningdiy 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for the question. So I removed 11 total live squirrels and then took the winter off. I don’t want to move them without a home/nest built. I just resumed trapping. I have caught one and surmise or guesstimated that I have 3 more to catch. Maybe as many as 4. The trap mechanism isn’t working as well as when I first started. So the squirrels are getting the food and away. I plan to have the 3-4 catch and moved in the next two weeks.

    So did you find a solution since posting this ? Wow I used 30 second window cleaner and it did the same thing. Disappointed , in reading the company stated a window is considered clean even if it has hard water spots because the hard water spots are a different issue that needs something different to fix. Crazy I know …Homeowners do not see it that way at all.
