Let me know which other climbs you want to see me ride!!
I will travel for decent views and gradients 😉

Katie Kookaburra I got into road riding riding in Houston, which is flat as a pancake, but having recently moved back to the UK, I am now faced with hills all around me. I struggle up a lot of them, particularly on a longer ride (which for me are all generally sub 100 k), but there are still times when I have to stop for a breather or even walk. I hate it when I have to do that, but watching your videos has helped motivate me to try again. You also have got me into gravel riding. Thanks for that - I love the trails. It makes a pleasant change from the road.

Katie, please don't make out you're not a good cyclist. Efforts you put in are tremendous, even on an off day. Tenth place overall is brilliant. Imagine what you could do on fresh legs. It's also a bit psychological as well. You planned a particular ascent and had to readjust, which has a small impact on your performance. Considering you've never been up Buttertubs, you did amazingly well. Please don't apologize for being tired or god forbid your legs are a bit white! Do what you do and we'll keep watching and following. You don't have to go back to prove anything either. You did it in some style and you should be proud of that. Take care and see you next video.

yay. Tubs climb is so much better from the North!!!! Fleet Moss wouldve been good aswell....in fact, you coulda done it straight after that as you drop into Hawes / Gayle...😉just kidding
great video tho, youre very hard on yourself....heavy legs are just a part of cycling, it used to irk me big time not getting the most out of a ride, but then I always think hey, I could be stood up on a packed train and here I am on my bike climbing one of the best climbs in UK...and all is right with the world again!!
Some other good potential 'Video' climbs round there (youve likely already done these): Fleet Moss, Fleak Moss (from Askrigg), Oxnop Scar, Malham Cove & Langcliffe Scar....good for 'scenic' video shots aswell!!

    • @Nosh_Feratu

raises an interesting question actually...is there too much focus on ‘performance’ because everything is logged and tracked and poured over on Strava? Remember years ago (warning...old man coming!!!) we would just ride the climbs, ponder how easy or hard it felt and generally just focus on enjoying it more...Strava segments are always in the back of my mind now tho, maybe too much!

So, Katie, when you say your legs are hurting, is it typically your quads, your hamstrings or maybe your calves? I recently read if your form & seat height & bar height is dialed in perfectly, your legs should hurt equally between the above three areas rather than just your quads for example. Great ride. Cheers from 🇨🇦

Done that one a couple of times (the other way I think)...it's a big'n. Also did it as part of the full TDF route a couple of weeks before the pro's did in 2014 (albeit alot slower).

Well done some real savage ramps in the middle...not as hard as Fleet Moss though.
