I've got this unit since 3 month now and it became my number 1 radio! I have Icom radios but it doesn't have the features you can find in this little Retevis, it's really a gem!!
Ive gotten 2 of these radios and both have had a problem with the speaker sounding like its been blown. It has the sound like you're listening to a wide fm signal using narrow fm mode. I really like this radio but this problem is really annoying.
Hello from the other side of the pond! I’m thinking about putting this on my Christmas list, finally upgrading from a baofeng. I need a radio that’s 10w, VHF/UHF capable, water resistant (I do a lot of fishing and kayaking), removable antenna, dual watch, and usb c charging capability. It looks like I’ve found my candidate. I plan on primarily using this on the GMRS band. This should work just fine on 462.700 (GMRS channel 21) and is repeater capable, right? Thanks for a great video and thanks in advance for any additional info!!!
@@W-733_KWX yes I got one shortly after Christmas, Santa was good to me!!! I am very impressed with the build quality and how solid it feels compared to baofengs. Also, this is my first radio with noise cancelation, and I’m blown away at the difference it makes. Overall I’m beyond impressed with this unit, ESPECIALLY at the price of $65. Also I contacted retevis to clarify some questions about the IP68 rating. According to their customer support, the radio is waterproof with or without the stock antenna, even when nothings installed it’s sealed. Same goes for the dust cover on the USB-C port. They recommend the use of it, but if you lose it the radio is still waterproof with nothing covering the charger port. This is phenomenal for someone like me who’s constantly fishing or kayaking!
@@gwlane5509 the radio is phenomenal. I can’t believe the build quality and features for $60, it’s truly impressive. If you’re considering this model, do not hesitate. The radio is 100% waterproof with or without the antenna, and with or without the USB-C dust cover (emailed retevis for clarification). This radio now goes everywhere with me and I love it
Hi Mike, thanks for your sharing! Just a little tip, the Type C port will keep waterproof without that rubber cover.
As a new RA89 owner, that’s good to hear! Thank you for sharing!!!
-57db!!!!! Nice to see some of the chinese manufacturers starting to take harmonic suppression seriously. It's not as if it's hard to implement.
I just ordered the US model. Thanks for the tip and your other videos. Your end fed wire videos were very helpful. I've built 3 so far. WB0AOD
This appears to be the same radio as the £24 Baofeng S22 Pro on Aliexpress!
I got one of these through the Amazon Vine review program and also quite like it!

I don't know
Hi Mike i just discovered they do have fast copy function by pressing A/B button down. Thank you @mike-M0MSN
