An absolutely brilliant review, no fluff. Straight to the point, and some awesome music to end it all.
Thank you
I did a video on this too and agree with everything Mike says. The customer service is excellent as I demonstrate.
👍👍
Brilliant review Mike and a nice little radio. Well done. 👍
Many thanks!
My 1st H3 went out in flames while charging, replacement radio doesn't transmit at all. TID refusing to send the replacement, advising me to put the battery of replacement radio to 1st radio (one that burned out in flames). Tragi-Comedy...
It will be interesting to know how this radio performs on the airband. Hopefully it has 8.33khz tuning steps and AM receive mode.
At the moment it doesn’t but they’re working on it. It’s to do with the amount of available memory and the solution will be to remove “other” menu languages to make space just leaving English.
@@M7EUP I guess the tuning steps are 12.5khz in that case.
Yes, or 10kHz if you do a software update. 10 was added to include UK CB FM scanning. If you enter 27.601 it will default to 27.60125
Nice review mr calm man, i enjoyed it (as usually) Thank you!
Thanks Svein 👍
First!
Nearly Cal, but not quite.. Interesting little radio for very little money, tempted I am,
Great radio for little money, buy it you should.
Wow, so they did fix the spurious emissions on VHF? Did you buy yours directly from TIDRADIO?
It was sent to me by TID directly
Thanks Mike. Any tests on 70 cm?
No sorry, but I can say it is good on 70 as well
Is there an internal birdie on 156.000 MHz (Marine Channel 0)? Most of the other Chinese hand held radios will hold the squelch open on this frequency which makes them unsuitable for monitoring the coastguard/lifeboats.
I do not know perhaps someone will post the answer here.
No mention of the receiver. Did you do any tests on this, compare it to other radios etc?
no but I will
Not related to this video I'm afraid, but I'd love an update on your Air to Air heat pump. Also, do you know why the installer has stopped making videos?
I will ask that question for you, as for the update the system is brilliant and I have no regrets. Combined with my solar system our energy bills have decreased by 2/3.😊
@@mike-M0MSN Thanks for getting back to me, I'm glad it's working out well for you 😊
It certainly de-values the big players handhelds.
👍
@MIKE-M0MSN , I'm amazed that 30 youtube-ham- channels all do not know how to test a radio ... they all act as if the receiver is not important ... what about Sensitivity, Selectivity, Resistance against overloading from outofband signals ? ... we are lost, all they test is the stupid power ..and the whole boafeng generation applauds for it ...aarrggh.
Yes you are probably right, we have all gone down the route of testing claimed output and cleanliness of the transmission, because these tests are important we do not want you or us to break the hard earned licensing agreements. Although I understand your position the receiver isn’t going to get your license revoked. I will try to include more details on the receiver side of things on my videos going forward, thank you for the post.👍
Yes I agree totally. Absolutely no one mentions SINAD. I have a Ailunce HD1 and the receiver on that has terrible gain switching noise but it's never mentioned in reviews. Maybe mine is faulty but still, my cheap Alinco vx50 has a much better receiver than the HD1.
