    You saved me so much time as I had been restoring old backups to new SD cards to get at old kits I had lost. Instead of the 1-kit load feature that only lets you copy a kit that is in the roland/kits folder, the copy menu on TD-27 allows you to get kits from any backup bank on any SD card. Very powerful!!! Why Roland never connected it in the documentation is unfortunate for many that have never seen this video. Thanks!

    Newbie here,
    Is it true that it is not possible to completely delete one of the factory preset kits?
    I don’t see a function where I can just go, …I don’t want factory kit 10 and then just delete it.
    Am I correct in this?
    Thank you!

    I have the TD 27 module. Is there a way to take just the rim of my floor tom and dedicate it to a BT1 as a cowbell through all kits? I know I need a splitter but I was curious about how to do it in the module.

    Hi, given that I use the same kit setting on my Roland TM 6 Pro via triggers on my acoustic kit, I'm buying a Roland snare, which will use the 6 input. However, during gigs, the program sound might vary on thd Roland snare but the kit would remain the same. Therefore, can the preset kit on my roland tm 6 pro be copied over to the user kit on the same roland tm 6 pro, so I can select say 4 identical user kits with different instrument options on just my Roland snare. That way I know e.g. kit one has say timbale setting, kit 2 has tom setting, kit 4 had timp setting etc

      Hi. I had to check what the copy menu is like on the TM-6 Pro but yes, it looks like that should work. I imagine that any kit can be copied into any slot like other Roland modules, so duplicating it a few times then just editing one pad should be very simple.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 роки тому

      Hey. Unfortunately not, no. Despite the modules using the same "sound engine," the actual instruments and settings on each module are different. This means that any kits you make will only be compatible with the module it was made on.

    Is there a way to use the td17 sound samples into the td27 module?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately not, no! The sound set and parameters are all different. The best you'd be able to do is record a one shot sample of a TD-17 instrument and import that into the TD-27, but it wouldn't be the same. When I create kits for each Roland module, even though I make the same packs for each, I have to start from scratch on each module because of this.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop

      What is it that you're missing? When you updated the module you should have done a factory reset at the end, then all of the presets should be intact. Or did the update change some of the presets? I can't quite remember which update did what.

    Hey again man. I purchased a bunch of kits from you for my td27 on Saturday. I backed them up all up on my pc before loading them into the module. I noticed while futzing around with some volume settings i may have inadvertantly changed an instrument in the kit. My solution was to just reload the kit from the SD card assuming it would overwrite anything i may have inadvertently done. Is that correct?
    Side question.. are all trigger settings independent of sound samples?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  7 місяців тому +1

      Hey! Thank you for your support 🙏
      The only issue with reloading the kits from the SD card is that it will duplicate the samples that the kit installs, so that will take up unnecessary space. If you aren't running out of space then it might not matter to you but if you want to avoid this then you'll need to go into the User Sample menu, find the duplicates by their filenames and delete them.
      In most cases, the duplicates will be lower down the sample list, so you'll probably need to delete the ones that are earlier in the list, but you can check the sample slot number on the SUB Instrument layer of the kit if need be. Different kits have different numbers of samples, so for some it might just be two snare samples for head and rim and for others there might be multiple drums with head/rim samples. If you're unsure, feel free to email through the store with the details of the kits and I can help you find them.

    Hey, thanks. YET with the TD-17 V2, they have added preloaded User Samples to some presets - how does one restore those, if one had hit 'Delete all User Samples'? With copying the preset, it doesn't restore the assignes user samples ;(

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Рік тому +1

      If you've saved a backup with the kits and samples that you want, reload the backup. If not, the only way to restore them is by doing a factory reset and checking the "reset with user sample" box. This will wipe all kits and current user samples and restore the stock kits and preloaded samples. If you have any kits you've made or changed that you want to keep, save those to your SD card with the single kit save (Other > Save) first so that you can load them again after the reset.

    • @CTBlaze
      @CTBlaze Рік тому

      @@TheeDrumWorkshop that's pretty daft of Roland, IMHO, that you cannot restore single preset kits WITH the assigned user samples ARGH... well, your kits are better anyway ;) And since one has to know all this BEFORE you start out on the very first day, multiple inefficient having-lost-some-work phases are pre-programmed.
      PS: only in a total backup are the global pad settings saved, I assume? SO if one ever needs to restore those, it's also complete restore of the backup? cheers mate

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it will restore the module back to the stock settings and remove all kits. If you check the "Reset with User Sample" box then it will also remove any added samples and restore the stock user samples (leaving this box unchecked will reset all of the settings but leave the samples intact).

    Adding a possible silly question but I am designing a Kit wihch will be used with my RoladTD50X using two complete pads configuration... Can I have two kits saved with those particular pads inputs settings separetly??? I dont seem to find that answer...🤔🤔

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Рік тому

      Not a silly question! There's no way to save trigger settings to a particular kit, but the TD-50X does have a "trigger bank" feature where you can save up to 8 different pad setups. It's under TRIGGER > BANK and you just press up to highlight the number next to the bank name at the top and swap between them with the dial or +/- buttons. There are some preset ones already built in but they can be overwritten if you want.
      If any of your pads are shared between setups, I recommend copying your current trigger settings to another bank first, then just swapping the pads you need to change on the copied bank. You can do this using the Copy Menu and I have a video about that here -

    Hi Luke, I've just used the SD Card Copy menu as explained from around 3:59 in your video, to reinstall the eDW kits I'd purchased before updating the TD-27 to Version 2.0. The kits don't sound anything like they used to before the update. Any suggestions as to what might be going on here? Thanks!

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Рік тому +1

      Hi David. The first thing I would double check is that you chose to copy them with the user samples. If not, they would definitely sound very different. You can check this by looking on the sub instrument layer of the snare to ensure that you see samples assigned, or you can check for any "eDW" labelled samples in the User Sample list.
      After that, I would make sure your trigger settings are definitely correctly set up after the update as these being configured wrong can cause issues with sample volume making things sound different.
      If you're sure it's neither of these, I'll have to look into it when I have the chance to update my own module.

    Great video, I have a question which I think is more or less related to this topic.
    Say i have a kit loaded up from one of your packs, or VEX / drumtec etc etc. The kick being used is 001 jarrah, I’d like to scroll through the other kicks and listen to them with all the effects, AMB, mixer, tweaking etc that has been done on 001. It seems when I scroll through I get the raw kicks and also when I scroll back to 001 It then defaults back to that raw version?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  3 роки тому

      Thanks! Hmm... you shouldn't lose all of the effects - the EQ, compression, ambience etc should remain the same when you swap between them. However, it sometimes does reset some parameters like the muffling, tuning, shell depth, head type etc. Unfortunately that can't be helped - it's just how Roland have set it up.
