The question is phrased as an Arminian question. Only those who are effectually called are irresistibly drawn to Christ. Common grace and the free offer of the Gospel are both Arminian doctrines.

If Eve had not touched the tree she would not have picked the fruit nor would she have eaten the forbidden fruit. Did God really say do not eat from this tree? Antinomianism always questions God's moral law.
Is there an Hegelian dialectical relationship between the moral law and the gospel? OR is the law/gospel distinction part of the Gospel message as an integrated and harmonious system that covers the whole scope of Scripture? Secondly, why does Ferguson think there is an ability to believe the Gospel apart from an effectual call???? Answer? He does not really believe in total inability/total depravity. This is what happens when Calvinism adopts a doctrine of Arminianism called common grace.
absolute nonscence, and misrepresentation.Ferguson would uphold the necessity of the effectual call. But,and here is where we spot the hyper calvinist, Fergusone believes ,as the Marrow men did, in the free offer of the gospel to all, since we do not know who the elect are,and are called to preach the gospel to all without distinction.Common grace has nothing to do with not believeing in the effectual call of only the elect. All are may hear the outward preaching of the gospel, but the Holy Spirit only effectualy calls the elect through it.
@@neilgrobson58 The most important question is whether or not God absolutely predestines everything. If so then obviously the question of doing anything to be effectually called is a question only an Arminian would ask.
Some of the greatest preachers and theologians came from Scotland 🏴
Greatest interpreter of the scriptures. Has helped me to grow in Christ.
The greatest interpreter of Scripture is Scripture itself. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 10:35; 2 Peter 1:19-21.

Wonderful. Reminded of the words of the father in the prodigal son "all that I have is yours". Great truth.
Your book is fantastic!! Such a humbling book! Such an incredible presentation of the gospel!! I would recommend it to all Christians ministers!!!
wow!! God bless you Sinclair for unpacking God's word...all that the Father,Son & Holy Spirit have is ours
I love listening to him speak.
yes, me too - it's intelligent insightful exposition wrapped in velvety soft honey tones; quite mesmerising
I applauded at home alone. Wonderful historical theological discourse on the grace of our God.
Fantastic. I'm adding both books to my list.

Is it orthodox to teach; that you forsake sin in order to come to Christ?
