His message makes me want to speak less and really listen more. I think many Christians need to read, understand and live out this Bible verse more and more.
Apply it to ourselves first and let the Holy Spirit convict them. We heard it because it was meant for us not others.
I am one of those you are speaking about.
My my my. I read this verse today and was contemplating on the subject. Wonderful Lord. U are just Almighty and Great, Thou knew my thoughts from afar. Teach us Lord teach us and Thank you Lord.
I appreciate this ministry.
Lord help us to have WISDOM in what we say and how we say it. In Jesus Mighty Name
I have listened to this several times now. I praise God for His Mercy & Conviction. It is very humbling.
Thank you Brother Ferguson. Thank you Lord Jesus for raising up such men.❤
Amen to all the comments. Thanksnto our Lord fornthebword of God and that He raises men who can help us understand and apply what is in the scriptures.
The older i get it seems the more i have to learn and not be distracted by the world around us, and the foolish things said by fools.
Preach the word! Live the word! Teach the word!

Amen brother, amen!
Very convicting. Ouch just doesn't suffice.
Such an amazing message sir.
It has cut me to the heart.
I thank the Lord for brothers like you.
God bless you richly ❤️🙌🏻
One of the best sermons for Christians to hear and obey for God's "eternal" purposes to be fulfilled. I have had to learn this very wisdom in most bitter ways but God's Spirit has prevailed. I thank God that He had inspired this type of preaching to reinforce the truth that if Christ is to become more, I must become less. Thank You Lord for Sinclair, RC and Ligonier.
The best sermon I have ever heard. Praise God for this message. Thank you sir.
What a godly message of TRUTH !!! Only the Lord can teach us SUCH GODLY TRUTH !!!!!!
I heard someone saying that "Psalms are written for me and proverbs are for others."
May God keep these venues open that we may hear these teachers of the true gospel of Christ.
Really a treasure ...God bless u Sinclair Ferguson

The Truth remains, no matter how old.
Alas! What a LOOOONG history of being a fool have I!
My senior pastor for 7 years. the best preacher and theologian of the past 50 years.
Joseph Mellen Praise God! What fruit have you bore?
the best?
He is a deep teacher of the Holy Bible , but the Holy Spirit is the only teacher with 100% sound doctrine.
Very applicable! Thank you.
Wow, so true.
I am such a fool !! Very hard to keep ones tongue at times in life ( I wonder what Sinclair means by our words may do eternal damage ??
Loving 🥰 it!
I pray for Self-Control and Wisdom
I am that fool. So sorry.
NIV got it wrong. “Lest” is the key word, once after a negative statement and once not - an important distinction. A better modern take would be:
Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
otherwise you yourself will be just like him.
Do answer a fool according to his folly,
so that he will be wise in his own eyes.
The interpretation of that is another story and separate point. I’ll take a stab at it though: When talking with a fool, if I am being argumentative and accepting his premises and debating the facts and details he brings up, you’ll lose a debate because he thinks he has a winner with his pet topic. However, if asking open-ended questions and supporting and listening respectfully to his replies, esp certain ones, one can make him feel wise and he will go away thinking 🤔
I wrote that because Im sure you are very interested in my opinion.
🧐😊
I think you summed it up nicely.

@@MickJagger-el6of I dont believe the word lest is well captured by “for fear that” though
