For ancient Chinese culture, Shanghai is nothing compared with Hangzhou and Suzhou, both are only about 200km away from Shanghai. Shanghai is a very young city and apparently have been westernized a lot. You may find a very old story, poem, or legend in many bridge, wall or house in both cities.
The weather in China is a bit hot now. It is recommended to go to Yunnan for the summer first. Last time two foreigners went to Shenzhen, they couldn't stand running to Yunnan after staying for a day. When they got off the high-speed rail, they put on their coats. It was too cold
I also just got the DJI Action 4 a couple of months ago before going to Maldives... got some great video snorkling with sharks and dolpins in coral reefs 😊

If you have enough time, I strongly recommend that your whole family visit the ancient town of 'Xitang', which is 70 kilometers away from Shanghai. It is completely different from the modern beauty of big cities and is a traditional cultural beauty of Jiangnan, China. You will definitely be amazed~
