I actually love the direction you're taking and it reminds me of VampireChicken, who I also love watching. You two are both beasts, even while making questionable decisions. Watching him for laughs and you for great conversation, while seeing you both take big risks is what I'm here for.
Couldnt be more right about the radio show with a little bit of video. this man has thought about what makes his show good and is just leaning into it. Love it
I think theres always a balance to strike between what makes money versus happiness, and it is especially accurate in content creation because of how many hours you have to put into it behind the scenes, making burnout much easier (like movies/TV, its easy to think that it only takes an hour to create an hour of content). Personally, I like non-tournament content more because its more relaxed and I get some patented Peteman tangents, but I think its equally important for you to keep uploading what you enjoy making.
Pete I will say that I enjoy watching non-tournament videos more b/c i can relate more to the ranked online games. I like to see how you deal with similar situations we all get into playing this game with randoms. The tournament games are cool to see once in a while, but I don't play in games where everyone is playing optimally and therefore its harder for me to see myself in those situations.
Since you brought it up in the video, i have thought before that for your Tourney games, it would be cool if you watched them after and explained the games that way
41:13 "If he breaks, I kill him" - Aren't you basically playing for second at this point anyway. I do not think that as yellow I would worry about pissing you off at this point in the game. That ship sailed when yellow decided to steal australia.
Long-term viewer here, I usually put off watching tournament videos because I want to see the earlier videos first! Nothing you can really do about that, but I appreciate you putting them up for a binge-watch later. If anything, it maybe feels like there's too many *different* tournaments to catch up on, but I know it supports the growing community of content creators, which has its merits. Keep up the good work!
I agree with much if the comment about the audio being so important. But i think it falls a little short. Not only are their mics often less good but also it is VERY rare that im able to follow along with who (and by that means what color are they) is talking other than Pete. Its incredibly frustrating. Also, i care about what Pete is talking about whatever but the only comments i care about from the other tournament people is specifically how it relates to the game.
The tournament scene has never been more active. But more tournaments of average lower quality. I can't really get the kind of game I want to get via risk tournaments anymore.
I found this game helpful to watch. We can see where red makes the mistake to attack white and take Australia. The blunder allowed black out of a poor position and into a great one holding two continents with the territory exchange.
31:56 ish - got to Master in zombies - stopped playing. You are my "practice" - done fairly well in the few tourneys I have played without playing at all in between by watching your videos. Thanks! 🙏
I thought the "assassination" games were really engaging. Maybe needed to really dial in the rules for those of us a bit slow on the uptake, but I can remember enjoying theorising who was set to kill who. I even wrote it down.
It's so funny to me that you actively called me out when you said the majority of your viewers just listen to you while doing something else. I love both you and Kylted's channel because I can be doing something else and keep 1 eye on the screen while doing something totally unrelated and you both are genuinely interesting and fun people to listen to.
Man the one thing i hate that players do I risk is when they tell me to do something that they themselves refuses to do... I often shift my focus to take them out at my own risk of losing the game but it's worth it 😂😂 at least in my option...
26:54 hey Pete, would be interesting to know your thoughts on this move, instead taking Africa, then blocking against that black 22 stack, could have made the game more spicy I figured.
It did irk me a little bit, seeing you change from trying to win every game. I like the way you explained the change here though. I'm also one of the people who gives your shows my undivided attention when I'm watching :).
Hey pete Could you mabye do a vid where you show how to win on "Lord of the rings physical map" in a 3 player game? I'm not bad at risk, i just don't know how to play on this map(I'm an expert/master online)
I like unleashed Pete nothing left to prove fuck around and find out, mt favorite videos is when someone pisses tou off and you talk vrap and get revenge then still won even of you take 2nd ots a good show when you see emotion savage revenge 😆
@@TheKillPeteStrategy Oh I really like the sound all anonymous mode It's kinda crazy they don't have a full sandbox mode, it feels like the game was almost made for it. Appreciate the reply man, big love from the UK 👊
At least some of the recent tourney videos were 70%, I think? I tend to avoid zombie and 70% games as those just aren't interested to me. (Also the VS games, as you're right, the chaos of all the different voices just isn't as good of a vibe on my end).
@@TheKillPeteStrategy I appreciate it! (Assuming others are the same way, at least, obviously just my individual preferences shouldn't be too big of a concern)
Not sure why his editor won’t let him proofread the captions before the videos are released. If my employee/supplier ignored something this important they’d be on notice.
I prefer your non tournament games because tournament games tend to be less entertaining. It's usually more predictable and often nothing happens until then end when someone tries and either feeds the game or succeed. In non-tournament games, you have hazards, fun, comebacks ... You also tend to be more jovial.
Love the GM vs having fun (great show) question. Now I think you will probably play more like my style and your content will be a bit more meaningful to me. When I do decide to pick up the game, or watch a vid, I am totally in to the psychological aspect of trying to see what people are thinking with the absolute bare minimum of information. And yeah, I will slam that noob in "my" bonus 10 out of 10 times, then try to survive it. 100% the desire to get laid. thats a no brainer for workout motive. that and not wanting to be a decrepit old man. So when you hit the 9, i was totally thinking to move your stack to Afghanistan and card block white (hah, someone in your stream said the same!). thats just me. anyways, thanks for the content. nice vibe to this show!
Tournaments are TV-series where we are rooting for you, and you inevitably lose in most of them. Tournament videos would work better IMO if you merely narrated a series with expert commentary, without participating. Unfortunately that would require a "viewer-only" participation feature by SMG...
4:03 I always punish noobs over winning games... probably why I'm still a master 🤷♂ Edit: someone gotta keep these noobs in check 😆 Edit Edit: I just like watching Pete clubbing baby seals (noobs for those that don't understand the meaning) Edit Edit Edit: As a straight man, the old Peteman looks better... just saying
This was a great video to show why Australia sucks. Yet everyone took it like it was the key strategic God position, without realizing how everyone who took it died. Lol
I honestly don't think you can do anything to make tournament risk interesting to the average viewer. The higher quality the risk players the more boring and predictable the the game. The noobs actually make risk videos interesting. The settings on tournaments to make it fair also make it boring because fair settings with good players will stalemate or to get around that they use 70% which is an inherently boring viewing mode 95% of the time.
@ 20:25 Reasons why I don't like the tournament videos as much usually. 1: Yes, sound quality can be bad, but.. 2: I hate every player actively saying all these plans for every person on the board to be a part of... Lets just make everything happen in the most safe and inoffensive way where nothing surprising happens generally and no one does anything interesting for a bunch of turns till cards get big enough... 3: People posting the game will refer to players by their gamer names exclusively and not by colors... I don't know almost any people you could be against and I won't quickly associate each name (and or voice) with each color just from someone introducing them at the start of the game once..
I watch the tournament games except for zombies. I hate the zombie game-play and the stupid sound effect, like they have a cold or something. it drives me batty. It also suck when people target you, knowing that you're the best player. I wonder if it'd be different if you entered anonymously.
You often express your dissatisfaction with the state of politics where you live. Have you considered trying to run for local political offices since your previous attempt? Local politics have the most effect on the daily lives of people generally. As a successful menial small business-owner, you would probably appeal to a lot of regular people.
After my original experience I concluded that I would only be interested in trying that again with financial and strategic backing. And since my ideas tend to be iconoclastic no such backing has yet materialized. Speaking publicly in the way that I do has more of an impact than the job I applied for last which was essentially the complaint department for busybody nimbys and housewives.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy Understandable. I'm not familiar with the political dynamics in Canada, but in US one of the most influential in the long term local positions are with the local school boards. All anonymous mode.
