Just another example of the Australian continent being the best continent to take in Risk
conclusive proof
Australia is awesome when you can count on the NA player to mess with everybody on the board and get 4th :)
@InQuizitiveTrivia I truly feel that in fixed games Australia is much stronger than Australia in progressive games.
Sure when 3 other people are fighting for NA
@jacobcook7 more importantly not 3 people slamming each other for Australia
Pete employing the European punching bag strat this game.
I mean…green breaking you at the right time and then settling to wait it out kind of worked.
Yeah it works a lot if everyone else also sucks.
When everyone's playing bad, bad play has a higher chance of winning lol. Nothing that green did 'worked', the other players just allowed them to not lose because of it.
you still drunk? The only mistake green made was locking his troops and not pushing you out of Europe.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy
just because an outcome is positive doesn’t mean the decision was a good one. just because you land a 1% roll sometimes doesn’t mean you should always roll on 1%.
I'm really enjoying the minimalist editing style on these newer vids. Love the improvement in production. Much love
I was at the point of nearly quitting this game. I had a paltry record of 80 wins 550 losses. Then I started watching your videos. I managed to improve and got to 200 wins 800 losses. I could have done better, but I let my emotions take over too often. Thanks to your perspectives on the game and your amazing teaching, I've since gone 21wins and 32 losses, and I'm moving ever closer to GM. I can't say thank you enough for helping me to become a better player.
Didn’t close the porn tab mid game Pete and the ads gave ya a scare 😭😭😂
That's what it must have been
That ad randomly playing was hilarious 😂 28:03
In games like this with unpredictable opponents, Europe becomes a punchbag . Pity you couldn't have pivoted to NA but well played in the circumstances Pete 👍
I've lost twice in a row to noobs when taking the Europe position. They don't have a clue about taking cards in Asia. One suicided into me and brought about my death after someone else kicked him out of SA and then Africa. It wasn't even me. In another, I didn't show the restraint after getting broken by Aus and then NA repeatedly. NA wanted to take cards in my Europe instead of getting out. I shouldn't have let him hold Europe after he broke me, but I eventally killed two of his three stacks so he botted. SA then cleaned up all the others giving me 3rd and the botted player 2nd, probably for being a jerk to me.
tell me about it, i just got third in a game where i see from the start that my oponents play like shit. i taken the single stack in Asia position and the troop leather suicided into me giving the Australia player first...
First instance of seeing board police actually work
Just what I needed for my after work stress alleviation, love your content dude!
That ad pop-up is an all time KPS reaction 😂
Green had a good play, but didn't take it. Should have moved his stack in when he broke on a 10 set. He could!d have killed you and stolen Europe, which I feel would have been the play. Pretty decent one, but instead guarded Australia
Your editor deserves a raise after that edit ahahah
I like seeing games where you lose. Keeps it interesting and helps me learn the game better.
28:02 this is like a scene from a dystopian movie 😂
I had to rewind the vid just cuz I missed the opening. I love it now.
what I have been doing is kicking all free accounts (white color name) from my lobbies. It takes longer to fill with only premium (gold name) accounts, but if someone wants to play on 2 accounts at least they need to pay for both.
If anything, this game will be a lesson to “BlizzKid” about good neighbor tactics. A lesson that will likely be ignored, but a lesson nonetheless.
And yeah it felt like green-purple teaming. Only breaking you and white, green never breaking purple.
Sad state of affairs. The noobery.

Risk & Skin care tips with Pete 😂
Just finished the tutorial, and won my first fixed classic dom. The attacker advantage “100% roll”, saving for 10-sets, and calculating kills was so helpful.
Thanks for the knowledge over the last couple of weeks, looking to forward to more risk taking 😉
I almost got 2v1’ed in the endgame right after the crazy back to back kills in Asia.
But I 1-stacked and took Europe which made the Aussie player break me and feed me the kill on SA/NA. Then I had the troop advantage in the 1v1! 🎉
Green and purple are absolutely the same person I see it constantly and even with alliances off and the moderators don’t do anything about it
i don't know if youtube knows what time i commented but...
the fact australia started as green and gold is kinda comically accurate
Total Risk beginner here, seems to me that North America has the same two ocean protection we have in real life. Three points of access vs Europe which is my worst play as a beginner. Europe is the worst from what I've tried so far.
Best ad promotion ever
Now a winning strategy, take and keep Australia :)
Good evening Pete!
i love Pete's calm aggression
I'm confused. This is supposed to be a winning haircut.
Nice game. Hard when there are 2 players working against you.
nice video as always pete
I've read most of the comments but not all. Apart from one two minor errors I thought Green played well. He didn't rush too much to take Aus and then broke you at opportune times. You shouldn't start slagging off people because they don't do what you want them to and then accuse them of teaming; you broke Purple first and then he broke you a tad later. You were lucky to get second.
I would pay less attention to what random people commenting have to say unless those people are also top players in the game.
I think Pete here has played enough Risk to know one's overall skill...
I assume that comment was directed at me. I don't rate myself as a top player, one of the reasons being that I don't play a lot (my health doesn't allow me to) and only play Classic Fixed on the standard map with six players. However, I have been a GM for the last two years or so and I do consider myself a reasonably good GM within those boundaries. I stand by my above comments. If you really want to dismiss my comment then say why I was wrong. @@TheKillPeteStrategy
That was to Pete.
I have my friend. Time and time again over many many videos. @@wayneclark2823
great vid. Whats the benefit to using the blitz slider?
I have a slider on the subject
Pete, what does sue into someone mean? A guy I play hacky sack with from mexico always says "sue it" too when he wants someone to hit the ball. I always thought it was just a mexican thing until I heard you saying it.
Would it have made sense for green to slide into africa in the early game when everyone was distracted? Then get out to such a high troop lead they cant be touched
Green didn't do anything incorrectly. he just had his vision on 1st place. and knew pete would compete with him so he slows him down.
My take on Australia: the best continent for fixed vanilla pickup games because conservative play virtually guarantees at least second place. If you get second place all the time, you are easily a Grandmaster.
this was a fun game to watch pete
This is why I hate playing classic fixed, not to mention being the purely unlucky fish at the start sometimes.
Every time I have played classic fixed, my placement has varied so wildly that there is no way it reflects my skill properly. XD
Been playing a good amount of classic fixed ranked/casual in prep for the first round of KPO2. Definitely much harder to win consistently, but regularly getting 2nd at least can be achieved. Win 20% maybe. Barely above average.
It's a lot about reading players, rather than the game, though. Watch the first round attacks people do, and make decisions on who you want to be next to, etc. Who's gonna let your troops out, and who will randomly slam whatever territory is closest.
That's why classic fixed with fog is my specific hell lol. Can't even do that much there.
@@DaTimmehclassic fix with fog is an absolute nightmare. Props to anyone that's got to GM playing it exclusively.
Classic fixed is by far what I play most but the games can become a bit samey in the late game. The start and 1v1 are always the most fun parts and I honestly enjoy playing against irrational newer players than other decent players that usually result in a stalemate. Then it just becomes a game of who gets bored first and slams into someone.
18:10 is it a mistake for Purple not to eat you there? Glad it didn't happen but was curious about your thoughts! Also was curious why you broke Purple at 27:10 -- it didn't seem like White had done enough for you by that point to escalate tension with an otherwise friendly neighbor at your border
Ayo, Pete got that slick hairstyle.🤩😍😩🤨
Risk is a game of taking into account of the different personalities on the board and META strategies to make the best decision to win. Things will not always go your way, thats impossible for many reasons. How many times have you ganged up on a player to get board advantage
Losing a game and blaming it on noob play because not everyone buys into the 4 hour strategy of add, attack, pass is unfair to your opponents and to the game.
Lose with grace. The Australia guy did what he was meant to do to win. So what if he doesnt have a higher win PCT? In this particular game he did well and defeated a grandmaster and he should be happy about it 😊
Also I enjoy your videos I just rarely comment.
I dislike elitism in any game though. There's a person on the other side of the screen 😊
It's disappointing to see poor quality play from the Australia player so when I see it, I point it out.
The fact that it won this game doesn't make it non poor quality play. It makes the play of the other two even poorer, or maybe he and purple were the same guy.
I don't say this because I'm some kind of elite player. I am what I am and I'm happy to show my work. The results speak for themselves better than I ever could.
@TheKillPeteStrategy theres a distinct difference in critiquing play and throwing a temper tantrum.
The opponent played aggro. You think aggro is dumb.
Your strategy is in no doubt more optimized and effective over a large portion of games than this random novice but that doesn't and will never prove that anything your game theory speaks of would have led to him getting first place in THIS game under these unique circumstances.
Your whole argument is based on the assumption that purple should align with you. But watching the video you can see that purple and green (the two troop leaders) ally together to fight you and white. Green cleverly allowed purple to do ALL THE WORK while he sat around and got strong. He manipulated an alliance (probably)
Overall whatever keep up the videos I'll still watch thx for posting the content but I disagree here 😊
I don't presume to say what people should do. I try to predict what they will do and comment if what they actually do speaks to them being good or bad. @@Mydogatemycomment
@TheKillPeteStrategy no issues keep up the videos 👍
Oi Pete. As my birthday wish (the 17th of jan) and as an Australian, I wish for you to do an Australian game where you have to start on classic (fixed, prog, caps, i don't care that way) without any starting territory in Aus (east aus, west aus, indonesia, (papua) new guinea (whatever it's called) or siam, and do so on Australia day (26th of January).
Of course I doubt you would do this whilst I still hope you'd at least read it for the lols, but it would be funny as if you intentionally act as the Australia noob as opposed to using rational thought and logic as you normally tend to do, and if you made some troll alt account like Arco does with the likes of 'CardSkipGaming', that would be also funny.
Edit during writing it initially: Australia Day (26/01/24) is a friday, so it would be perfect for fixed friday in a country where some idiot politicians are trying to get rid of our country's day for wokeness. [don't worry pete, this isn't a divisive topic in our community, as nobody wants to just throw away a public holiday where we can drink heaps and play 2-up (the best gambling game as it has no house favour, it is 2 coins in the air, 2 heads and dude X wins, 2 tails and dude Y wins, 1 of each and its a re-toss)]
Pete don't be so defensive when your skin care adverts pop up unexpectedly - nobody is judging you. :-)
Pete what skin care products do you use? Asking for a friend
“sure.. very defensive” lmao
It happens and it hurts deeply
Great game pete as always 👍❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥
I didn't realize until thirty two minutes in this is fixed.
45 minutes in what an awful game.
i was waiting for the green kill, i thought you white and purple are gonna team up and wipe green..! green won but there was no strategy , green was lucky bcuz the others were fighting for NA while green was building up army!
Exactly!
Hey Pete, Enjoying your videos. Have to say on this one you seemed to be way off base, imo. Novice green player did great and wouldn't have won if he let you hold europe. It was clear white was extremely passive and was not going to attack purple. Despite that, having already been at war with green, you broke purple hoping white would do the same. He didn't, because he was passive and a beginner. Now you're in the middle of the board with two wars versus stronger opponents. You were lucky white came through in the end so you could get second. All could have been avoided if you recognized what white was and kept your cool.
Entirely agree and I posted much the same and got slagged off by Pete as you can see in the comments.
Purple had you dead to rights holding 4 cards. 17:40
This game was bizzare to watch!
im new to risk. can some1 explain why green was bad? i think he played correctly. he was the strongest at the time and attacked the second strongest, why would that be bad? had he not done it then pete wouldve become the strongest in like 2 rounds. also every1 else was so busy that they couldnt hurt him anyway
Good neighbour theory.
If the other players were also good he would have ended up choked out in Australia and I would have had a vendetta against him. Winning from the Australia position requires leaving Australia as soon as possible which he didn't do.
He wouldn't have been able to out-generate people later in the game, would have easily become locked off from gaining new cards and would have made enemies of people in a position to do so. The ONLY reason this worked out for him is because there were players equally as bad and just think suiciding into people is good strategy.
That's short term thinking. Green attacked Europe but didn't kill them. That should've come back to bite them in the arse. The only reason it didn't was because purple was also shit.
If purple was good, as soon as Green broke Europe, he teams with Pete and White. Meaning, the 3 of them pin the green player in Australia. None of them attack each other until the green player is dead. It's a fairly standard way for things to unfold in a lobby of good players. If purple had done that, he'd have finished above green.
Purple did the opposite: he attacked both Pete and White, meaning he ended up finishing below green when he easily could've come at least 3rd or better. So purple was shit and made an irrational decision. Him being shit meant that green got lucky. Because instead of green getting teamed on and dying after breaking Pete, Pete had to focus his attention on purple who couldn't cooperate.
That's why when you saw their ranks at the end he was a novice. This game was an exception for Green. He doesn't win many games and he just got lucky this time to get put in a lobby with other irrational/new players.
That decision making will not win him games consistently (it hasn't been, shown by his rank). He just got lucky this time.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy I agree with u but the others weren't playing perfectly. I don't think green should've won either but him attacking pete to take away his bonus was smart. Green probably didn't do it on purpose but him doing that probably won him the game cus if he hadn't Pete would've easily won late game. I understand that if every1 else played optimally then green would've been fucked but that wasn't the case. I'm not saying he was good but I belive the play itself in this specific game was optimal
@@KackNoobExpert I could be very wrong but honestly the optimal thing to do would probably have been to leverage one of his early trade ins on the 3 1s he had in africa and taken africa with australia and then just not antagonize Pete at all... black, magenta, purple all trapped in NA with no exterior? white with his asia stack no reason to break africa? probably easy top 2 finish
So frustrating that everyone in this game sucked, besides you of course. Difficult to get a win on that board. GG's.
Is this what happens when you dont retaliate on someone?
Purple totally should have taken you out after green smacked your stack. 22 troops for 4 cards and a secured Europe. Nothing to think about I would say.
Looks like Pete was drunk this game.
Nah that was last week
It seems like you miss the ball a bit on Australia. Its effective strategy but you have to be antagonistic to either Africa or Europe. If not they will form a blockade and make it tough to move around.
I'll tell you man that after doing this work for four years it's highly unlikely there's anything about the Australia scenario that hasnt been discussed and dissected to bits.
My friends and I found it silly that there's currency tokens for simply playing the game. It makes sense for buying maps and stuff which we INSTANTLY did but for having micro transactions built into just pressing play... What are your thoughts on it?
It's to give a benefit to premium members... n it's so cheep there's rlly no reason not to especially if you really enjoy playing it
@@ryanmcnabb5722 The part I'm calling silly is that there's any such thing as a "premium member". At very least if you buy a map that map should be infinitely playable
100% Green and Purple were the same dude.
Dude why is it it that all of these players annoyed the hell out of me somehow 😂 would not have been a fun match to play
Mmh dont think Australian Player is worse, He just did not let you grow :-) this is btw more interesting compared to games where are stable boarders for an hour, nothing happpens till one decides to suicide with 200 troops and game ends then in next 5min🎉

“First game, this guy does not win games” technically he has a 100% record
it's also possible he's played many games and just loses a lot more than he wins
@@TheKillPeteStrategy I suspect the latter to be more likely for sure!
Seemed a bit personal calling green a noob. I get it, he really screwed you early, but it seemed you were more upset about the position it put you in rather than his play.
It's difficult for anything to be personal when all you see is numbers and colours
I don't understand why you decided to join white instead of purple , purple looked like a better teamate. I think you could have beaten green. Also don't understand why you say green is dumb, I know you don't like australia but he executed the australian strategy very well
Many people don't understand. My guess is that's a big part of why they watch
❤Creative I love you from Iraq
For me as spectator Green wasnt the biggest nuisance on this board. Id say White ruined Petes game even more.
Fully aware that Pete gets griefed by Green this guy had the audacity to spam attack Purple on Pete and spam angry face when Pete didnt attack. White was lucky that Pete was a homie to him and let himself get pulled into the war vs Purple aswell. And after Pete smashed the first purple stack White did nothing. He only started to smash after Purple went all out and he had no other choice. Thats a sh*t ally.
Pete did get away with 2nd. But this pest in AUS taking the win because Pete was nice to a d*ck just suuucked. Would ve been much more satisfying to see Pete destroy Green while White is left to fight his own war.
Thats why i ignore attack calls. Its mostly people trying to make their problems yours. If you thumb up but do nothing they get mad and consider to su into you. If you do attack they throw hearts but do nothing. Its a loose or loose for you most of the time.
Hey at least it was sfw when it started blaring lol

That's what I was wondering. Perhaps because he didn't advance his game when he had biggest stack, to take Africa or even N.America. Played defensively, kept securing his stack. Turtle play. Some don't like it, but it's a successful strategy if played with patience IMO
