  • In my "Final Thoughts" video on the Solo Guitars double-neck kit I said that it needed new strings. This is just a quick video to show the difference that new strings made. Short version: it made the guitar playable, but revealed additional work that needs to be done.
    Here's a link to the kit: www.solomusicg...
The pickups I used in the build are from Guitarfetish.

This video was recorded using my standard overly complicated signal chain - guitar into a TC Electronic Plethora X5 set to a Hypergravity Compressor, which then goes into a Tech 21 SansAmp PSA 2, then into a Hall of Fame Reverb from the X5 set to a spring reverb. All of that is running into the effects return of my Supro Statesman head. The output goes into a Rivera Rock Crusher load box and a Two Notes Torpedo Cab M. From the Rock Crusher the signal goes into the Marshall amp that can be seen in the video; it acts as a 2x12 cabinet. The Cab M is on a Classic Rock setting, and recorded in Ableton Live through a Focusrite Scarlett interface.

The majority of the problems are from you not cutting the nut properly. Nuts don't come ready to go. They have to filed down. Any kit guitar you put together will need the nut to be finished. Get good nut files from stew Mac. They are worth it.

I am currently building the solo sg style double neck just like you. I am currently doing the sparkle paint job on it and will make sure to file the nut. Thanks for the heads up!

Thankyou for the information on the guitar... I'm quite intrigued about it and hopefully will try it out

I am building a double too. Did you post any vids or know a source for the wiring diagrams? I built an ES335 12 string. The action was high but I ordered a PRS 12-string nut and it was much better. The action is superb. Thanks!

Hi. =What if you open tuned your 12 string neck? You could try slide, which may work with the higher action too. A lot easier to get a nice sound maybe.

You're a brave one. Even thinking about the wiring diagram for that gives me agita. Incidentally, I just built the Strat style 12 string from Solo myself and my B string broke while tuning. Must be a thing. Haha. Anyway, nice video.

Definitely not wired correctly or the volume knobs would work for Both guitars and tones too; strange it doesn't? The one I have does.

The faults of the guitar are entirely your own. It is NOT a kit for beginners.
