I have the Mopho and was thinking about replacing it with the Moog. This video just convinced me to keep it. I was listening to the video without watching the screen. Every time I heard a sound I liked, I looked at the screen. It was always the Mopho.

..Mopho can mop the floor with the Moog Minitaur..

I have a Mopho and very happy that it sounds more steady solid...Both sound awesome but the minitaur is more velvet, Mopho is more hard on the highs while keeping solid on the lows. Minitaur sounds more uncontrolled beast, great. Mopho sounds more technical controlled bomb. And is WAAAAAAY more versatile than Minitaur. Great video.

Great comparison. If only others where this good at A/B'ing product quality. Yeah, the focus is on the sounds that are roughly the same but it seems a better comparison. Huge thanks.

WOW! DSI Mopho much better than I thought! Had two Moog Minitaurs, both had issues with tuning, lost presets, not responding correctly to midi and midi dropouts. Had to reset them often. Dave Smith stuff always felt solid and reliable.

Both sound fantastic. For some reason I find myself liking the Mopho just a little bit more. Good comparison video.

how do you get the apc to control the mopho in Ableton? im trying to do exactly this, control the cutoff from the apc40.

I love the minitaur, but the more I mess around with mine the more I notice that it's more stronger in the low end of bass rather than the higher end, as it's too basic when comparing it to other synths like the mopho. But buying the minitaur for the reason of consistency in strong bass, that's not a problem for me as I will just have to layer my bass for a stronger higher end.

there is a classic aspect to the moog square wave, i dunno if it was the envelope settings you had towards the end, but it sounded very musical like a Larry Heard track.
Own a Mopho and I don't know if i get this sound out of it

I just stopped coveting the Minitaur. I have the Mopho desktop, and I HIGHLY reccommend pairing it with the Behringer BCR2000 MIDI Controller w/ custom Mopho mapping. No PC, no DAW involved. All the sub menus that are a pain to dive through are all laid out and are a knob twist away. Turns it into a different synth.

      You're right, it's a good combination !!!

If you bought both the BCR2000 and desktop Mopho, isn't that just about as much as the Mopho keyboard itself now? (used ~$600). And you still have to have a midi-keyboard too so it seems like a wash or would just make sense to buy the keyboard version. I guess space and placement is a factor to consider.

    Hi dude,
I'm focusing my work in live acts. So I got the minitaur and now I'm going for the mopho, because I want to have 2 basses for playing live. Would you recommend it as a second synth in terms of timbre and bass capabilities?

Yes! But Mopho is little bit hard to learn, because it has a lots of parameters. It's better to use PC editor. Mopho is great and not only for bass. Also has great lead, pad, percussions, .. sounds in default presets and lots of options to create your own.

    • @dtekproduk

Yes... Is a very good synth...

Easy. AS-1. The filter is much better.
