- I am getting excited to teach an art workshop in France in May so I decided to warm up with some paintings from the property we will be staying at.
Sketchbook Floozies stencils are here!!! Available craft stash and they are offering a lower free shipping threshold this month!
USA: shrsl.com/4fgfz (Free shipping on orders over $40 this month!)
UK: shrsl.com/4fggj (Free shipping on orders over £30 in February!)
I used a variety of watercolors, a water-soluble graphite pencil, and a .80 fine liner and brush pen for accents.

I never would have thought to put down the graphite on tape in order to lift with brush! That's so clever
Thanks!
So true the ink did add to your watercolor pieces. Thank you for posting!🎉❤💜✨🥰🖖🏾
You are so welcome!
Makes me long to go, but alas I can’t. And I’ve dreamed of going to France all my life. Since I can’t go I’m hoping you can share some of your artistic adventures from there with us when you return.
Will do!
I'm not a big fan of the winsor and newton watercolor set here. I just don't know why. It doesn't jive for me. A lot of artists have good things to say about it but I don't like it...
This isn't winsor & Newton, it is a Portable Painter with the water buckets removed. It is filled with QoR paint mainly. I mentioned that the slim pans in the front will not fit the small W&N cotman sketches box but they will fit in the larger WN Cotman studio palettes. @@DeshArt
Wow! I was totally fooled. IIt looks a lot like the cotman set. Thanks a lot for clarifying!
Oh wow. That is so beautiful. Such gorgeous paintings. Completely agree, having very few art supplies makes you more adaptable and skilled artist. So happy for everyone going to the French retreat. You guys will have such and amazing time! It sounds wonderful. Enjoy.
Thanks so much 😊
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video. Have a good week.🎉.❤.
You too!
I think you need a castle she-shed, complete with turret. Lovely paintings. I especially like the spirally roses.
Great idea!
Thank you for showing me another way to use my water soluable graphite pencils. I love your paintings for today. I bet you are all getting excited.
You are so welcome!
You are extremely talented and so gifted at teaching! I just purchased all four sets of the stencils - wishing you all the best!
Thank you so much!
Hullo Lindsay, what a beautiful video and excellent advertisement for your trip as well as your new stencils, well done! I wish you all the best for your upcoming trip and know you will create amazing artworks from it and everyone who goes we’ll have a great time. I wish you only very good things for you and everyone on your retreat. Thank you for sharing all of this with those of us who are not going to be joining you.
Thank you so much!
We started with a small 3 bedroom ranch. Then a 4 bedroom Victorian money pit while our kids grew up. I now live in a small story and half bungalow which is perfect for me, and i have an extra bedroom for company. No turret, but i do have a very big garage!!😊 great paintjngs today. You inspire us every time you post a video.
Thank you! We stayed in out starter home be bought in 99 and put an addition on a couple years ago. It feels spacious now and you can't beat the practicality or energy efficiency of a ranch.
Very nice! Love these little square paintings. Less intimidating to do. Thank you very much!❤
Exactly! And they're much more attractive laid out like that then they are if you just devide the paper into quarters. ❤
You're welcome 😊
I really like idea of griding the paper
Into smaller bites.
Thank you for the wonderful demonstration and great tips. You are always such a joy.
I have all the graphitint products but never even thought about just adding water soluable graphite to paint. It would really expand your color choice endlessly. I love that tinted graphite look. It looks vintage Asian to me.
You are so welcome!
I was at Harriet de Winton’s retreat this last Sept at this property. The tower is a guest bedroom!!! The property and surrounding land is truly beautiful and the hosts, Nicholas and Sophie are wonderful. You will have such a great time. ( The Vegan dish are really great that they prepared.)
Yay, thanks for the info!
I’m going on a cruise soon. Ordered the stencils last week. I can’t wait to maybe paint my vacay.
Fun! I want to go on a cruise someplace warm someday!
This is so fun, such gorgeous pieces ☺☺☺
Thanks!
You are going to love France! It’s so beautiful and May will be a fantastic time to go. Je vous souhaite beaucoup de bons moments!
Can't wait!
Thank you so much for sharing your templates! I've started doing this and absolutely love it. We are wintering in Arizona so I do a page for each place, park, or attraction we visit. Breaking up the page makes it so much easier to do small snips of the day and it's less daunting than a big space to fill!
That sounds lovely, enjoy the sunshine!
Gosh I love watching you paint Lindsay. Beautiful little scenes.
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you very much.
You are welcome!
Lovely. Can’t wait to see from footage of your trip away. Looks like such a pretty place. Yes the turret is a must climb then paint place hope your aloud in. Thanks for this rather cool relaxing video.
Thank you@
My dream house is at the top of a silo, with a fireman’s pole for egress. :-). May be in stages…
That is a gorgeous page! Cozy, fairy book, vintage love. The graphite is a great idea! I still have the prima graphite water soluble sticks. They work great! Thanks for reminding me!😊 Looking forward to drawing and painting the bottom scene and the one above it💕 Thanks so much Lindsay! Namaste 🙏 You’re going to have so much fun in France 💕💪🙏
Thank you so much!
I ordered the stencils and can’t wait for them to arrive 🤗. I wish I could join you in France but it’s just a tad out of budget at the moment. It looks like an ideal place for painting judging by what you did from the photos. Lovely work!
Next time!
So pretty. Looks awesome with the ink! Wish I could go to France!
Maybe one day!
The stencils are SUCH a good idea!! Sadly the shipping to India isn't available. :( I am definitely gonna try using scale tho. 😋
Oh no! I'm sure you can DIY something:)
These are so pretty, LIndsay! Btw, what's the Zen brush you're bring in here and there, appears to be a 1/4 flat or chisel blender? You used it when you put the black crayon on the tape. Thank you! :) Fanna
I think it might be a cotman 1/2" flat
😊 My dream house is a Hobbit house.
Love that!
Hi, wanted to get all your sketchbook floozy stencils. Buying all 4 brought me under the $40 free shipping because of discount order all 4. Had to pass as the shipping was almost $20 making my total over $50. 😮
Guess ill be using a ruler n make my own. Thought youd might like to know how over the top shipping is.
Oh shoot, I've been hearing that. It's too bad there wasn't anything else you needed from craft stash to put it over the free shipping mark. They also had 10% off $50 so you could save more. I know their free shipping threshold is usually higher so I wanted people to know about the lower threshold. They ship from UK and it is pricy.
I have multiple size sketchbooks. Any suggestion on the one that would be the most versatile if I can afford all of them?
I think the 8x8 or 9x12 if you use 9x12 sketch books.
Beautiful! Is the derwent antique intense block lightfast? Just curious. Thanks!
I would think so, it's white, what would it fade to?
@@thefrugalcrafter I don't know, didn't want it to go beige on me 🤪
I love this page and your stencils but I'm trying to figure out what sizes are best! I have a Portable Painter question. I'd like to get more half pans so I can swap colors in and out depending on what I'm doing. Do standard half pans fit? If not, what to order? I'm ordering one for a dried giraffe palette along with some DS gouache now that they've added more colors!😉
You can get extra half pans from portable painter. Winsor newton half pans fit too because they are tapered. It's tough to know if they will fit or not but if you ate shopping amazon look for a tapered one.
Do the slim pans fit in the center channel of the meeden 48 metal tin?
They have a sloped bottom so they wouldn't sit flat.
@@thefrugalcrafter ok. Thank you!
What paint brand are you using here? Thanks❤
Mostly QoR
Hey lindsay I have a couple new color mixed i wanted to recommend.... W&N AQUA GREEN w/ PV 55, it can look like a extremely luminous indanthrone blue/violet. Also PV55 with indian red.... Aqua Green w/ indian red.... and I know you don't really like W&NC Alizarin Crimson but if you mix PV 55 with it, it makes a very likely red violet. Pv55 w/ indian red. And the last one was 3.... Aqua Green, PV55, and Indian red for a nice purple grey. I recommend splashing clean water on them or use salt. I was just seeing what I could do with pv55, I think its more useful than dioxazine violet and mixed are more vibrant.
Thanks! I'll see if I have any!
@@thefrugalcrafter I'm pretty sure you have the pv55 quin violet in your vangogh pinks pallet lol... both versions.
