    At this point I wish reviewers would cease mentioning Taurus's past for having a few bad apples. I think the past few years have earned their respect enough to take each new offering on its own merits without dinging them with past failures each time.

    I wouldn't have any problem picking one of these up if I didn't already have sufficient numbers of the new little micro-9's. I know Taurus has had some probs in the past with a couple of their handguns, but I've never owned one of those. Every Taurus I've ever owned (and there have been quite a few) have run flawlessly, every bit as reliably as my Smiths, Rugers, etc. Thanks for another honest and adequate review.

    Saw a couple of reviews that claimed to have feeding, case sticking in the chamber issues with their hand loads. Speculating that the chamber probably had tight tolerances. Just finished shooting 4 magazines of 124 grain fmj out of mine with no issues. Very accurate, no failures and these were the first rds out of a new one. Great little gun, taking the place of my Sig P938 as primary concealed carry option.

    The G series from Taurus is a an excellent value. They're great guns that you can buy for less than what they should cost due to people still having a bad taste in their mouths from Taurus' spotty past. A lot of people still don't realize that a "budget" polymer 9mm in 2021 doesn't mean less reliability, but what you're not getting is name brand, after market support, great triggers, metal sights, great finish, things like that. If those things don't matter to you then they make excellent guns. I still keep my G2C in the car and it has thousands of rounds through it without any malfunctions. Great review brother!

      The finish on my gx4 is better than my brothers m&p 2.0, and the taurus takes glock sights. I have about 500rds through mine with not a single malfunction. The trigger is also really good from the factory

      @Absolute_Goblin 3 роки тому +1

      @@evansautomotive307 yeah I've head the trigger is actually good on the newer models. It wasn't bad on the g2c and millennium series but it was just very standard. There's really nothing good or bad I can say about the old triggers.

    • @Absolute_Goblin
      @Absolute_Goblin 3 роки тому +2

      @@evansautomotive307 I think that's a great idea. I can't see them going down in price, or any gun for that matter. I think when people realize Taurus is today is not the Taurus of yesterday I also believe their stock price will go up. The G2C was my first gun and I didn't know if it was reliable so I put so many boxes of ammo through it. Thousands of rounds. This was back when Federal 9mm was $9 a box at Walmart, I would take it to the range and shoot hundreds of rounds an hour to vet the gun and learn. I always recommend them to people. The maverick 88 shotgun is great on a budget too and if you get a good rifle from PSA those are good. There are some really underpriced guns out there. Have a good one brother.

    I own several nice handguns including Glocks, Sigs, Smith & Wessons, and others. Apparently I missed the "bad Taurus years" because for many years I only had a couple of Glocks, and didn't add to my humble collection until a few years ago. In the last several years I've bought four different Taurus 9mm G2Cs and one G2C .40 caliber. I am continually amazed at the performance and dependability as well as quality Taurus is producing. I just added this GX4 to my collection today, and since the time of this video a year ago, I bought it new for $279.00 plus tax. Great video brother! Keep them coming!

I'll treat it just like I do the 365. Shoot it enough to be competent during the time of year that I'm carry it. Micros don't get the bulk of my training time, and they sure as hell won't get the bulk of my fun at the range time. I need to know it works, and that I can hit what I'm aiming at out to 25 yards with confidence. I bought my first Taurus, a PT111G2 Millinium about 5 years ago ran 1000 rounds through it with no problems. About 8 months later bought one for my wife. She’s had no issues. Then I bought a G3 never had an issue and it now resides in MCK version 2 where it gets many more rounds through it and runs flawlessly and is my primary home protection weapon with red dot and a laser/light as backup to the MCK light and my red dot. On occasions where I am wearing loose clothing and want more rounds I bought a G3X that has the 3.2” barrel and two 15 rd. mags.
    I run a lot of rounds in all of the Tauruses and have no issues. I have no experience with their customer service. I live in a tropical climate just 100 miles north or the equator where humidity is predominately in the 90+% range all the time so these budget friendly offerings have been a blessing. I haven’t worried about an expensive firearm being ruined by the hostile environment. For home protection I have a 10 round 12 gauge back-up and 4 South African Boerboel dogs that really are my first line of defense. One is 200lb. Another two are about 180lb. and the last is about 150. In 15 years I’ve had many attempts to enter my compound but they’ve never set foot inside my 7’ wall. I wonder why?

      It would be just the opposite to me. Back in the late 80s and early 90s they made their best stuff. The black boxes with gold logo print. The all steel revolvers with wood grips that were decent quality knockoff S&Ws. The PT-92/PT-99 were knockoff Beretta 92FSs as well.
      Most this new stuff is cheap garbage. In fact anything made after about 1996/97 is.

When shooting S&B, Norma, Win white box, all 115gr. and Win nato 124 gr., accuracy mediocre . But the GX4 shot super accurate using Winchester USA Ready match grade 115gr fmj. How accurate? I shot
    20 rounds into 4" Army L Bullseye standing from 25 yard distance, with 16 of the 20 rounds grouping into a 3.25 inch X-Ring!

    You must be luckier than I am. Picked up a TX22 about 8 months ago with no problems shooting 100 plus rounds a week. Picked up the GX4 from Shoot Straight about two weeks ago and the first range trip was nothing but problems the most notable was a dead trigger with no rhyme or reason . Was using Blazer brass 115 grain. I have never had out of the box issues even remotely close to this. I already have the P365 for my EDC and do minimum 50 rounds per week with no issues. Only picked the GX4 on a whim and the price was right. Hopefully Taurus will fix it and make it right. At this point though I should have waited till they got the bugs worked out. The dead trigger issues don`t inspire confidence in a defensive arm. Noted my rear sight has either moved way to the right or wasn't set correctly to begin with. All I can say is buyer beware.

    With around 100 rds through my GX4 the only issue I've had so far was I once hit the clip release while shooting which caused a dead trigger. It only happened once and it seems like it must have been something I did because the release is well guarded.

    I've tried all the micro 9s except for the GX4 and the Kimber. The Shield Plus is my favorite and the p365xl is second. Oddly enough, I won't purchase the Shield because of what you get for what you spend compared to the others. I was hoping that one of these would replace my Glock 43. Turns out that the 43 is still my go to.

    • @JacksonWalter735
      @JacksonWalter735 3 роки тому +2

      Great choice man. The Shield Plus is also my favorite (I prefer the longer and wider grips and love the trigger) but the value at $550 at some places and $600 at most places just isn't worth it. I really wished it came in at a cheaper price, comes with nights sights, or comes optics ready. Maybe $400-450 would be better. You can almost buy 2 M&P Shield for the same price as a Shield Plus. Hopefully those famous S&W rebates come back in the future to make the price more palatable. Until then your Glock 43 is still great. 6+1 or 7+1 is more than enough for most situations. You can always carry an extra mag or use an extended mag basepad (my favorite is the Taran Tactical version) with your Glock 43 and that will still be almost as great as all the new microcompacts (and a cheaper alternative as well).

It failed once to lock back after the last round on empty mag, but I might have touched the mag release (but mag didn't eject, so pretty sure I didn't). I called taurus, and they said it wasn't a failure at all, not to be able to lock it back without mag in it. Now they have the S&W Shield plus but even that isn't exactly competition for the P365 XL because all they did is make their gun a little bigger to accommodate higher capacity mags but smaller guns then them either have the same capacity or have higher capacity like the P365 or Hellcat...
