I remember reading a metal mag profile of the band in the early 90s. Ben Shepherd was described as the serial killer looking guy. Hard to argue, really. He gets a mean look on his face. (I would SO date him btw!)

It always blew me away how he was able to play bass down around his ankles
i always figured it was due to his humongous height like Krist Novoselic but being able to play the bass that low while on fire surely blows minds

After Soundgarden broke up he OD'ed on morphine though. And he had a HUGE drinking problem and would get into fights a ton.
