When Cinebinge did this movie this week, George looked up the trivia on IMDB. Nora Ephron said the idea of Sally being a picky eater came from her own experience. She placed a complicated order for food on a plane and the flight crew asked Ephron if she had ever seen When Harry Met Sally.
The friend, played by Bruno Kirby also starred in "City Slickers" with Billy Crystal. Kirby also starred as the young "Clemenza" in Godfather Part II. Bruno Kirby died from leukemia in 2006.
The eighties was not the dark ages, for God's sake! Everyone wasn't running around worrying about marriage - no more than any other generation. These women are approaching the age where, if they were thinking about kids and family, then there was a clock. Sally's friend who made that remark is the "desperate" friend we all had.
Marriage was taken WAY MORE serious then than now...and Sally's friends are REALIST women have a short amount of time really 18-30 and that may be stretching it
@@JesseJ.Speigner Oh, you're citing statistics - I see. I lived through those times. I may have been a teen, but I was well aware of social norms of the times. You do know that the sexual revolution happened about twenty years before that, right? Perhaps you grew up in a much more conservative and sheltered region, but revolving-door relationships, living together and casual sex were very much a part of the 80s and most education and career-minded woman were not looking for Mr. Right in their early twenties. Disposable marriages were also part of the landscape back then. By late-twenties, there'd have been more awareness of time if family was part of the plan - but to say that time was or is up for women by age 30 (and that may be stretching it"??) is ridiculous.
This movie is truly a classic. Even though “I’ll have what she’s having” is pretty much the only iconic line from this movie, it’s still a great line and my personal favorite in my opinion.
Great movie. You should also watch You Got Mail which is a great rom com with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, Fyi the woman who say "I will have what she is having" after the orgasm' scene is the director mother
During the 80s going to the place to be restraunts was a thing. The harder to get a reservation the more impressive it was to be seen there. American Psycho was a great example of this.
There's a great story told by the screenwriter, Nora Ephron. She was on a plane when they were playing this film on the screens. This was back before personal in flight entertainment was a thing, and the diner scene cut to the next scene before Sally fakes having an orgasm. And the entire cabin was enraged, with passengers groaning in disappointment and some even booing.
That was true. They did not make Sunday because of God. That's literally true when they had those underweae back then. And the men and women can't be friends didn't start with this movie, it has been a debate since the beginning of time
I lost count of how many things you missed because you were soooo busy talking! Maybe save some of your comments for after the movie? That way, you'll actually see why people have been talking about this move for the last 35+ years!
Saturday Night Live did a parody where 4 women got a chance to do the Meg Ryan scene at the diner and Kate McKinnon did the "I`ll have what she`s having." line. It was so funny and great too.
This movie is a classic 😊❤️❤️ I enjoyed the story and the characters and both Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have great chemistry together 🩷 thanks for the reaction you guys 😉👍👍
My problem with this movie is how it's framed. Even though I think we could use more platonic male/female friendships in media, I don't have an issue with friends to lovers stories. I feel like this movie shot itself in the foot with how they opened in terms of Harry's character. He begins the movie with this conviction that men and women can't truly be friends without copping feels for each other, and of course most of us know that's not true. So naturally it seems that his views are going to be challenged because that's what a good movie does. There's ONE great scene where he starts to realize that he has a girl friend that he respects as a friend and enjoys her company without wanting to screw her. Then of course they do end up falling for each other and basically proves him right. I don't like that. I would've been fine with this film if they either cut the beginning with his mentality OR if this wasn't a romance movie at all and was about proving that men and women CAN be platonic friends and stay platonic friends. The message just ruined it for me.

"She used the Force! She used the Force!" 😂 Officially my favorite thing said in a reaction video ever.
When Tim met Clariss!

The boyfriend "Joe" is played by Steven Ford, son of former U.S. President Gerald Ford.
City Slickers is another great Billy Crystal movie.

Tim reacting to OG Rom-Coms is an educational experience. Some of us were raised by Nora Ephron (and also Nancy Meyers)
You also like "When you were sleeping" (1995), and "Just like heaven" (2005).

Great movie reaction! And I must say that Clariss looks so beautiful. I hope she sees this comment. 🥰
Another Billy Crystal movie I love is America's Sweethearts.
The lady who says "I'll have what she's having." is Rob Reiners mother.
I saw this movie in 1989 in the theater when it came out. Excellent movie!
“I’ll have what she’s having.” Hilarious. Hahahaha. 😂
20:45 Famous Scene!
21:28 "I'll Have what she's Having!"😂😂😂
Such a classic movie. Billy Crystal & Meg Ryan performance was so good.
Best rom com I’ve ever seen. Not my favorite. But the best written and acted.
12:03 actually my dad was a married man and he left my mom. He's still with and married to the other woman.

I'll have what she's having. Great film
Please react to Kramer vs Kramer.
Great movie ❤❤❤
When Harry meet Sally is only came out 35 years years ago not exactly what I would call an old movie.
i mean it's not brand new. not a old classic. but it's definitely an older movie.

@@sirperybLakeney no, I didn't.
I heard that, in the original ending, Harry and Sally never got together. However, the test audience didn't like it, so the ending was changed.
Yeah, you lost me at "copping feels for each other.” 😂
