5.3 Silverado CAT DELETE + SIDE EXIT - Thrush Rattler Muffler

- Опубліковано 17 вер 2024
- Decided to finally delete the catalytic converters on my 2005 chevy Silverado 5.3 and added a side exit exhaust pipe to help get rid of the drone on the inside.
Your truck was set up exactly like mine except mine has Thrush welded, but one thing I've learned, If you put one of those rubber bed protectors in the floor of your bed it dramatically reduces vibration and drone. It acts as sound insulation 😁
Running out the sides is always the best
That was a nice job.....love the way it sounds...well worth the work you put in.
Old school mechanic trick my dad and granpa use to do is go buy a fence post from a chain link fence that fits your exhaust and weld it for some reason it sounds amazing
Sounds way better my dude, like it.
In case y’all didn’t know, he’s in his truck right now.
Ma Trooooook
No Headers just asking for Problems that no one tells you. What you have done Sounds Very Good. Duels you can do your self.
No headers isn't gonna cause any problems lol
Sounds great. Has authority now💪 you and your side kick could get in some trouble🤣
That sounds really good bubba love the c10 videos glad to finally see some stuff on this truck too
How do I do that with my 02? It’s got a 5.3 and the exhaust is starting to rattle and sounds like shit when she shifts. I’d like to cut the muffler off about mid way and see what she sounds like.
No muffler it'll just be loud like straight pipes
Good video! I like how it turned out.
Thanks for the help , fixin to do my 04 this morning . If ya ever need to replace your flux welder , try a little "" century FC - 90 "" it's a 110 welder too , but ... think it'll change your mind about your summit .. ( nuttin against summit ) but sure you'll understand if use a century ( Lincoln) for a min. Any how , thanks again for the education , your olegirl sounds good ..
I put a neighbor hater and it didn't sound any better than my flowmaster. Cut the cats and made a massive difference!!!
That tires a little slick lol glad u left o2 sensors in so many people take them off then can't figure out why there truck runs awful
Totally agree. I just cammed and built the heads on my 97 Silverado and bought 4 new 02 sensors for the headers and downstream. And got the ecu tuned for deleted a/c, evap, egr and cats. Got to have proper air fuel ratio.
I just got my duel exhaust fixed manifold s 2 flowmaster 10 racing series mufflers and damn it sounds good
Have you noticed a difference in power/gas mileage since deleting the cats?
She sounds mean, nice work. Our 04 has the cats removed with Flowmaster 40 series duals and my 11 has true dual Cherry Bombs with stock cats. Thinking about deleting the cats with some headers and running Super 10s.
Super 10s are ok sounding, but only use them on an engine that doesn't rev past like 4500 rpms, my buddy's 360 dodge has one sounds good, I had one on my ls it sounded good until around high rpms it has a horrible whistle. His whistles too but not very much since his truck doesn't rev very high
@@jdlawless_fuel1416 Did you remove the cats on either truck? I’ve since sold my 2011 Chevy and just have the 2004 Chevy with catless 40 series.
@@KsKaylor yea both catless
But I had cats and it whistled with and without
Sounds great. I did mine awhile back to.
Love the sound dude
Man, that thang sounds sweet, I'm almost done with my LS Swap on my OBS. I will be buying a couple of these mufflers
Think it was only around 40 bucks also
That would give me a headache lol u might have one eventually . I've tryed this before but idk the raspy part drives me nuts an that's only thing but at idle or when u rev it , it sounds really good .
Wounder if 40 series flowmaster would do on it now
Hell yeah! Sounds good!
Hell ya that thing sounds rowdy.
What difference does it make to the o2 sensors? Noticed you left them. Does this cause premature failure or idle issues?
Sounds good
great video man sounds great
Sounds awesome nice work 👍
I wonder if there is a way to get a 350 to sound like that especially on decel
Sounds real good
not bad at all sounds good brother
Sounds awesome! How bad is the drone with this setup?
Barely hear it once you're running highway speeds
Sounds great😎
it's a bit too quiet for my taste..
bud sounds ok..
install a resonator and a 4 inch or 3.5 dual tip. and it will sound asomeeee
Bad ass man
No matter how many Cadillac converters you put on it it'll never be a Cadillac... 😆
Good stuff buddy! I put a 4 inch straight pipe on my duramax. It was a bitch to get on but well worth it in the end. Keep it up dude 🤙
Sounds better
Would you happen to know part # for thrush rattler muffler?
Hello bossman. I have a tiny echo tech bowtie hhr. Im battlin with exhaust. I dont want to run cats or resonators. I have exhuast for a 2.2 echotec but now need exhuast in my 2.4 hhr i have two of them. Can my exhuast for my 2.2 fit on my 2.4? And whats the cheapest easiest way to go about this thanks for any advice bossman. Lovethe vids and content thankyou boss hope your days are dry and safe💪🇺🇸💪🇺🇸
I'm not sure man I would just crawl under them and see what the exhaust system looks like.. im sure if you got a welder and a grinder you could make it work lol
Hey man love you stuff did the engine light stay off?
It was already on lol
sounds alot better it claps alittle bit
Man insist I could bring my truck to you so you can finish it for me I work night and weekends are for the family.
Where you located
@@bowtieguy601 lol South Carolina
Bald tires and broken taillight, but hey, exhaust comes first.
You dam right!
Let me know if you notice a difference in power.
Maybe a little bit
Yeah if you delete cats it will flow better
Needs a cam now 😁
Sounds good to me I like it
How bad is the clapping compared to we’ll say a 350 No cats Straight pipe. I’m hoping it’s not even close lol
Do you have a 4l80e if so did you swap it or is it factory?
Original 4l60
I just got done putting shorty headers on my 02 5.3 and cut the huge muffler off and put a thrush muffler on it and it sounds pretty good. But I’d really like to make it a true duel exhaust. Had my phone setting on my creeper so that’s why there’s nothing but red 😂 Here’s a vid. ua-cam.com/video/PvbMZks3ev4/v-deo.html
Almost sounds like a 5.7 with the side exit
My cats are going bad ....so I think I'm gonna go this route
What about your O2 sensors
What muffler is that?
I did a cat delete on my 2017 F-150. Sounds good but performance sucks thanks to the rear o2 sensors being gone and (possibly) the front sensors as well. Then again the truck has no tune on it whatsoever. I guess next time I cat delete a newer truck I better get a good tune lol.
Aftermarket cats are the way to go, you get just as much flow as straight pipes and can still use your 02 sensors.
@@JohnSmith-xx1lx Can't believe I never thought of that lmao. Thanks, dude. My next truck will be the newer 2022/2023/2024 Sierra 6.2 or Sierra HD 6.6 gas truck and I want that beast to be at its loudest without losing any horses or going into limp mode like my Ford does at WOT.
@@ChickenwithaHelmet you're right about that, I got a F-150 03 with a 4.6 l sound is absolutely horrible without cats and straight pipe wide open but I put the aftermarket cats on it and a Cherry bomb single chamber m80 muffler sounds incredible I've never heard of 4.6 sound better. The Chevys sound good with straight pipes for some reason, but they're definitely hit or miss and they vary whether you have the y pipe on and depending if you have it running straight out the back versus side exit. Even funnier believe it or not I did have an 03 Tahoe with flex pipe 3 inch all the way straight out the back and it sounded incredible. For some reason I think gives it a different tone it wasn't clapping or popping or anything it was just smooth and loud, I got lucky with that one though lol.
@@JohnSmith-xx1lx My older 2002 GMC 2500hd had a 6.0 with catless straight pipes (the previous owner had the setup put on before I got the truck). It sounded really good but cold starts were always thunder claps. The exhaust setup I plan on doing for my future 6.2/6.6 truck is American Racing Headers, an offroad X-pipe and decent sized exhaust tips (3.75 inch if it's the 6.2 and 5 inch if it's the 6.6).
Did it ever throw a code?? Thanks in advance.
Idk light was already on lol
Did it throw a code having no cats on it?
Not sure engine light been on for a while now already lol
Man I need you to do a ls swap on my 88 Silverado
What size pipe did you have to get
3in
@@bowtieguy601 Ty man
Did it throw codes from o2 sensors?
Idk 🤷♂️ light was on before and haven't scanned it since lol
@@bowtieguy601 my light is on as well for an o2 sensor…I just keep “clearing it” 😂
Welp that does it. Cat delete it is
Why not put a stage 3 or some in ner
Cause money lol.. maybe one day
How can u get rid of the raspiness?
Depends on the type of muffler and how much exhaust pipe you put after the muffler etc
@@bowtieguy601 how did u turn off check engine light when cutting the cats ? With foulers ?
Throw on some longtubes
Did he jack up the truck from the transmission pan👀
No dude lol
Does get better fuel Mileage
Haven't really checked but seems about the same
i still got my cats and i wanna get headers
could you do a review on a summit racing turbo muffler please
If I ever come across one I will
🇺🇲 Did hacking off the cat give you any trouble codes or fuck with the computer at all? I have a 05 GMC 5.3 LM7 295 horse and I want that cat bullshit gone!🇺🇲
Idk haven't checked lol engine light was already on before
@@bowtieguy601 Well if it's running really good the light doesn't matter. Im more concerned if I hack mine off it will mess with my tune and run like shit. I can always tune it again but id rather not if I don't have to because the tune i put in took me a lot of trial and error to get right.
cut the muffler off too
shouldve just true dualed it
I will eventually this was the cheapest and quickest way to do it at the time
2wd or 4wd
2
Sounded better before.. imo.
Does it clap?
To much lol
