What makes drivers like Schumacher and verstappen world champion is they push the rules to the limit. It feels like Norris hasn’t got it in him to do that. Hopefully tho in the future he’ll became a bit nasty in his driving.

Fernando Alonso 400th race this weekend, look I've been critical of his ability to build team's around him to go and create dynasties and what not but his longevity is literally unmatched. One of the ruthless racers, top 12 all time definitely and he's ahead of the likes of Hakkinen and Piquet probably.

Btw Josh, Hamilton’s of the week was Jan Lammers.
Also knew as soon as I saw it that Hamilton (I would have given him one just for that qualifying personally) and Norris were getting of the weeks, not surprised by Albon, but Oscar, that was a surprise.
    Also that’s OTW #4 for Norris… 👀

      @TheMoaningYorkshireman  3 дні тому +2

Indeed it was. 😅 I obviously knew whilst editing who it was going to be, just couldn't remember while recording. Standard for me that! 🤣
It had to be those 4 I'm afraid. The reason why Piastri got one was because Norris had such a disastrous weekend yet still finished ahead of Piastri, that's just crazy in my eyes. If I'm penalising one McLaren I'm penalising them both. 😅 It's crazy isn't it, 4 Of the Weeks for Lando and I haven't been harsh either, he's deserved them.

Mostly LH Commentary today : I know it just worked out that way, with a Jan Lammers in 'the can'. It's just a shame we couldn't have had a Michael Andretti to give to Lewis because Michael so often beached himself, usually in the first 2 or 3 laps. What Lewis' little error did, was give us all a favor so Sky could replay the start 3 or times without stepping on the DRS deployment like they usually do.
WRT the Standings, For Teams, I must agree with the rather harsh penalty on Alpine for bringing out the McLarens with the GP2 engines. Zac probably wanted them out of the museum anyway, kind of an embarrassment
Driver Standings: In spite of being DSQ for a race by the FIA, K-Mag is right on the tail of Sir Loo Loo and his two victories but various other bottling has them battling in his final season for Merc. (FWIW, Have you heard the various LH apologists blaming the team for sabotaging the 44 car as a payback for seeking greener pastures? it's kind of pathetic & hilarious at the same time)

    Hiya Josh,
My goodness hasn't Norris slipped down the leaderboard! In all honesty, while I think he shoukd have had the better of Max in the race, we have to remember this is the first season he has been in a championship fight in F1 so he just needs to get a bit more experience with it. I think. ❤
Whenever Alex has a bit of a stumble or tough weekend, I remain so calm and supportive as a fan . I am like don't panic,I know you can do it, when you do bounce back strong its going to feel ultra sweet given the setbacks❤
I think based on pure pace, Colapinto and Albon are evenly matched. I just feel that in certain situations, Alex's perfirmances look worse if Alex has had contact/racing incident. If he hadn't had contact with Ocon on lap 1, would he have also battled for the points with Colapinto? We wouldn't know so while it was clear Colapinto looked a lot stronger and I definitely don't want to take anything away from Franco's perofrmance as he has been absolutely brilliant , I do feel certain factors have made Alex's race worse because he had picked up damage. I hope the next few races will be clean ones for Alex and we can see him at his best again and that will put him on the right footing for when he is up against Carlos next year 😊❤.
With Lewis, it was quite a shock to see him out in Q1 and also have a crash like that early on in the race. I watched Strictly on Saturday night and one of the contestants had a slip up and was really disappointed in herself and one of the judges said don't be to hard on yourself even the world champion dancers have slip ups when the pressure is on. That message also symbalised in the grand prix when a 7 time champion crashed out on lap 1.
It was really impressive from Lawson and Colapinto! Where will we see Lawson next year, in RB or Red Bull and will Colapinto get that final Suaber seat or will he have to be on the sidelines? He definitely deserves a seat but its where is the question if Sauber go for Bottas, Schumacher or Bortoleto?
Apologies if you feel I am being a bit biased with Alex and Lando but I do like to give them the benefit of the doubt but do fully understand their of the weeks ! ❤

There's no excuses for Lando, he has the dominant car since Miami. I don't buy all this it's his first title fight at all. A number of great drivers have won their first title fights.
E.g. Schumacher 1994, Hakkinen 1998, Verstappen 2021, Alonso 2005, Vettel 2010 (depending on what you class 2009 as).

      @TheMoaningYorkshireman  3 дні тому +1

      Hiya Helen,
Its a fair point you raise in regards to Lando and it being his first chance at a championship so is making mistakes. I think that only goes so far though and this weekend was just plain and simply awful by him on all fronts. A car that has that much pace over the rivals and manages to lose out in the standings to your title rival is just unbelievable.. My frustration is showing now because I just find some of things he is doing are silly. The battle with Max and not giving the place back is prime example of this.
In regards to Alex, unfortunately it had to be an Of the Week for him but I think you kind of expected it. I seriously hope Mexico he can turn his fortunes around. 😊❤️ It really was a weekend to forget.
Colapinto doing a great job again is really encouraging for his future within F1, even if he has to take a year on the sidelines. He's a fantastic asset and who knows, if Lawson goes to Red Bull for 2025, is that RB seat available for Colapinto perhaps? 🤔 Makes you wonder.

@@TheMoaningYorkshireman I agree with you. I think Lando is feeling a bit of the pressure to win his first title but he shouldn't put too much pressure on himself as that leads to more mistakes. I don't think he refused to give the place back to Max on purpose as he would know it wouldn't benefit him but I just feel there was some inexperience with battling foe your first title which led to some silly errors. When Lando said a couple of years ago, Max is my friend. I was like, I wonder if that friendship would last when they are competing for the top prize ...
Yeah, it was inevitable Alex would get an of the week. He has had a tough couple of races and he just needs to find his mojo again and show us those best performances of his. I am sure the team are fully supporting him too and are giving him the confidence boost he needs internally. I also really appreciate the way, you nearly always put a heart and smiley face emojis in your replies to me when you talk about Alex whether its been a tough day or a good day. Its really lovely Josh! 😊❤️ Do you think he can bounce back from these tough couple of races?
As for Colapinto, he is really impressing. It's such a shame when you have drivers like Stroll on the grid hogging a seat when he really doesn't deserve it based on skill and attitude. I suppose you could say the same for Ocon too. Ocon I would say is a better driver than Stroll but his attitude towards his teammates isn't great. I hope Colapinto does land a seat at Audi or even RB like you say!

That was a COTA classic! Strong return after the unexpected Fall break, but what are the scores, including sprint bonus points, like?
Leclerc: 10 (+1) (Maybe the one lap pace was a bit off, but this was a stellar win from Leclerc.)
Sainz: 9 (+1) (Bit outclassed in the race itself but was brilliant in the sprint race. Ferrari was really good at COTA and both drivers made it count)
Verstappen: OTW/Final Warning (+3) (OTW for driving like a brat and then whining repeatedly about Norris. Was unnecessary to drive Norris that deep at the first corner and then when Norris tried overtaking he ran both himself and the McLaren outside of the white line at T12. As far as I'm concerned Red Bull got strongly favoured, should've at least had both drivers get penalized if anything there. Did dominate the sprint race though.)
Norris: 5 (Got pole position? Yes? Made a good start? No, not really... Kept P2 despite the poor start? Nope. Legally passed petulant Verstappen? Couldn't even do that, though that was an impossible task with the way Verstappen was defending. Really surprising penalty, even if he could've let Verstappen by. Defining where exactly the line of the T12 apex is might've helped.)
Piastri: 6 (Weird weekend for Piastri. Track Limits anyone? Got to P5 in the race but was meh otherwise)
Russell: 3 (+1) (His crash in Q3 was peculiar, car was like "Nah, I'm not cooperating with you right now", resulting in a Pit Lane Start. Did a good job to finish P6)
Perez: - (Excuses, excuses. No pace like normal, most unsurprising driver this weekend. Would've been an OTW anyway)
Hulkenberg: 9 (He continues to star in the Haas, looking reasonably solid for P10 in the drivers championship now.)
Lawson: 8.5 (+1) (Good on him for being willing to take on Alonso in the sprint. Drove a great race to go from last to P9 too.)
Colapinto: 8.5 (Another point in the bag for Franco. Overstepped the limit twice on flying laps, but knew where it was. Super impressive, deserves to be on the grid next season)
Magnussen: 9 (Odd radio miscommunication aside this was Magnussen's best weekend. Matching Hulkenberg, pipping him at times. Hopefully he can finish the season on a high note.)
Gasly: 7 (Qualifying was excellent but the race was a struggle. Copping an unnecessary penalty for the incident with Albon didn't help and meant that a golden points opportunity was missed.)
Alonso: Full DSQ/-35000 (-1000) (His "I'm holier than thou" attitude was absolutely pathetic over the whole sprint race/main qualifying thing with Lawson. Fernando should know better than to act his shoe size instead of his age. I'm in the clear minority but I feel like Formula 1 will overall be better off once he retires for the second time.)
Tsunoda: 5 (Did okay, nothing special. Might've been strategy, might've been poor pace, but P14 when Lawson finished P9 from the back is concerning)
Stroll: - (Oh Canada, why is he our F1 representative? Would've scored an OTW, just had a disasterclass in taking the SC restart)
Albon: 3.5 (+1) (Yikes Albon, once Franco came in he's been thumping you big time! Gets a bonus point for his epic recovery from that T19 spin in SQ1 because of how clean it was.)
Bottas: - (Would've scored a 3. These neon dustbins on four wheels each are just like the 2014 Caterham or the 2014 Sauber. Hopeless, snail slow and stuck with a weak driver pairing)
Ocon: 4 (Was going for the fastest lap really necessary? That point has truly become a farce. Ocon didn't really do much, not much to say other than that he was there)
Zhou: - (Not bothered. Would've been OTW)
Hamilton: 2 (out of 5) (Wow Mercedes... As Sainz said to Ferrari at Silverstone in 2022 "Stop inventing", especially on a sprint weekend. Pulled a Vettel spin show in Practice, looked really good in SQ and the sprint, but when it really mattered the team screwed up trying to be clever. His race ending spin at T19 was more of a relief after such a horrific weekend. Mercedes clearly don't care and stuff like this is why as a constructor they now have a double DSQ)

@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Mercedes has been so frustrating ever since they decided for 2022 "Hey let's do zero side pods!" After that they've had weekends where they're too busy trying different setups or too busy confusedly meandering between being really good (like Silverstone and Spa this year) and being terrible like they're a back marker disguised as a front runner (most of 2022, specifically Jeddah and Imola) As for Max vs Lando... well the Turn 12 incident was basically a low speed version of Max vs Lewis into Turn 4 at Interlagos in 2021. Lando has been disappointing but Max got lucky to not get penalized for forcing Lando off track. Both were in the wrong and either no penalty should've been awarded or both should've been penalized.

@@braydenblackburn6738 Ahhhh Mercedes, as you say so inconsistent. I don't blame them for going for the zero pod design to be honest in 2022. They're innovation is what kept them at the front during their most dominant years. It's just a shame it didn't work out. What I do find frustrating is their inconsistency from then till now adn just when it looked like they were getting back on track before the summer break, they've seemingly dropped the ball again which is madness. Hopefully it's just that the US circuit didn't suit the upgrades for whatever reason and in Mexico with thinner air and nowhere near as much elevation changes it will be better. 🤞
As for Max and Lando. I saw nothing wrong with the move Max made on Lando at the start, as for the main talking point with just a few laps left. Max absolutely divebombed it and failed to make the corner himself and forced Lando off track in the process. I personally think Lando and McLaren should've been smarter and let Max back through and then argue what Max did was wrong and try and get the position back that way. 👍
