In my experience trying out 29 different electric scooters, I can say for certain that drum breaks have always been better. They don’t need to be loosened or tightened, the pads don’t wear out as easily, and they stop really really good. And this has been the case for about 3-4 scooters with drum breaks.

You didn't do a hill test. But... you don't seem to have any hills round there! Great review. Mine's on order and as everywhere here is a hill, that's what I'll be testing it on. It's encouraging that you got good range with 'extreme' mode because that's the mode which eats the battery fastest. The next setting down is more designed for long cruises.

not sure the 31 miles is realistic... thinking about getting one too. i got a blutron, 22 km range at 30kph (stated 65) 240lbs. very good build quality paid about 480 usd but should have known better to get tube tires, pinch flat on motor rear wheel within 50km, what a bitch, thought about replacing with solid tires but too much hassle. will probably sell it to get extra range, suspension and tubeless of yadea. do you know if they are shipping from within your country^

Dude: Thanks for the excellent review! Yes, this looks like a very exciting new scooter generation. (What's next-scooters with AI that tell us where to ride to? LOL)
If you have trouble connecting to a scooter's Bluetooth app, it's often because you turn on Bluetooth, then try to use the phone's Bluetooth menu to connect to the scooter. For some reason, scooter apps almost always connect automatically to the scooter, once you turn Bluetooth on and run the app, and trying to connect them manually actually interferes with this process. Don't ask me why... It's just how the OS, apps, and hardware are engineered.

(At 3:03) "You have a throttle here... I'm not sure if this is a kick scooter or not. I think it is, because if I do throttle it in Extreme Mode, it doesn't do anything-but the kickstand is down, so I don't know if that affects [anything?]."
I'm not sure, but I think what you're referring to here is actually the "zero start" feature.
Most scooters have a safety feature that requires you to get them moving a couple of MPH-by kicking-before the throttle has any effect. It's to be sure you're actually on the scooter, balanced, and have some forward momentum, so it's more likely the scooter is pointed strait, you're in control of it, and it doesn't jump out from under you (or over to one side) when you apply the power.
I don't know if this feature even has a name, or if it's just such basic common sense thing (IMHO), you just have to describe it. 😊
Some scooters let you turn off this feature. In _that_ state, it's called "zero start" (power available at 0 MPH). I know some more experienced riders prefer that-but if you ask me, if someone's in such a hurry that they can't give their scooter one good kick before they power away, either their attention span is impaired (in which case they shouldn't be on something that takes as much attention as a scooter to use safely), or they're too rushed and stressed out (same thing).
To add to the confusion: Currently, AFAIK, stand-up electric scooters are all called "electric kick scooters", to distinguish them from seated scooters. We may eventually come up with a simpler name-but for the time being, this term applies even to scooters whose safety kick-to-start feature has been turned off.
Finally, are there really kick scooters with "smart" kickstands that disable the throttle when they're down? That's not a bad idea; I just never heard of it. Cheers!

Again, i recommend checking out the Vsett line. Preferably the Vsett 8+, as it's the one i have. dual 600w motor, dual suspension, clean design, nice features such as nfc key etc. very solidly built. it's from the same company that made the zero scooters.

With 48 volt, and a 800/1600 watt motor, they must be leaving some headroom in there, it might be hidden in the settings, or they might be doing it for the initial release to see how it holds up out in the wild, and if all goes well they could do some sort of update. but there are 350w motors that will hit 18mph, and 500w single motors regularly hitting 25mph. The only other thing that comes to mind is maybe they are running a high torque motor, so it is set up more for acceleration and hill climbing than top speed, they could also be keeping the power artificially low so you can get that 30-mile plus range, it only has a 14.5Ah battery, so it is running pretty dang efficient.
I like it, it definitely looks like a completely new E-scooter, not just a rebranded one, or mild iteration sharing 80% of its parts with another brand. It might not have been doable for the packaging layout, but the disc brake in the front and the drum in the back would have made a lot more sense from a performance perspective. It should be relatively light also with the smaller battery pack, and some other boxes it ticks that a lot of other scooters don't..IPX5 waterproofing and 10" tubeless tires that are self-healing, promising specs, I will be keeping an eye out for this when it hits the market. hopefully it stays aound or under $1200-1300.

i just signed up for one of these and then cancelled after I realized they are just starting to ship batch 1 now, and i would not be in batch 1. By the time it clears customs and reaches canada (supposedly directly from factory- by ship i assume since 65 lbs), it might be end september or later. north east weather means i might not use this until end of september, so really no need to have 65lb monster to store until may 2024 as i would not use it in cold weather. it looks like decent value at 700 usd but there will be many others with increased battery and suspension next few months and into next year. i suspect yadea will be selling this for 700 ish with non beta stock that`s shippable locally by end of the year... or early next year, so i`ll wait to see more reviews

I kinda agree with you, you are giving up optimal coasting and creating drag to regenerate electricity back into the batteries, so how much do you really gain? I could see it being beneficial on downhill grade sections of a given road, but at other times on say an incline you could actually end up eating up more range using it. Usually, the amount of drag is adjustable so you can at least limit the amount of drag created, regenerative brakes make more sense to me.

One more thing, dude (and sorry for all the text:)
I realize that in your review, you wanted to get on the road and get as much out of this scooter as you could, right away. But it's probably not a good idea, IMHO, to post a video that people of all (and no) scooter experiencelevels will see, where you immediately use Extreme Mode, with NO helmet or safety gear of any kind. Good reviewers have a bit of responsibility about that, y'know? Just saying.
In fact, the "wheelie" tendency you started experiencing around 6:00 was apparently because you took the scooter out on its most powerful (Extreme) setting without spending any time getting used to this particular scooter's balance and feel at lower settings. I hope the people who enjoy your video-especially those who get one of these as their first scooter-will realize that, and will start on the slower settings till they're really familiar with how the scooter behaves, and how to control it. This is serious stuff, so please forgive me for bringing it up.
Finally, I noticed (e.g. 9:40) that you often seem to be riding with your left foot forward. That's a real oversight, and can be very dangerous... For details, please see the "Stance" section (around 0:45) here:
