    A planty review ❤ I love those so much, especially the one's where you had the plant for a few years.
    I wasn't aware of this plant. I have actually been looking into caudex plants for a while now, because window space is rare in winter, so dormant plants are always very welcome in my home 😂 but there are so many different types of caudex plants, so I was undecided.
    There is a small shop in Germany that sells a lot of interesting plants, and quite a few caudex plants. They have the Phyllanthus mirabilis in a 15cm pot for 34,99€, which is a fair price if you consider how slow it grows

      Thank you, Silvia! 🌱 Caudex plants are fascinating, aren't they? 😃 That shop sounds like a gem! Happy plant hunting! 🌿

    This was a fun one 😀 I sure do miss those Plant Daddies. I cannot believe they left us without any explanation (they owe us! 🤣) Cheers from lovely Iowa.

    I've never heard of that plant. Have seen some caudex plants featured on other channels. Do find them interesting and would like to own one someday. Thank you, Memo for highlighting this plant.

    I have a few plants in the maranta family. The leaves move, and close up at night. Quite a few have darker undersides.

    This plant is right up my alley! I love plants with a caudex. I have several desert roses. But the ones I have that I really love are Ficus petiolaris and Buddha’s Belly (Jatropha podagrica)😢. These two need more water than succulents. I water the Ficus almost every day during the summer because I was told it would drop all of its leaves if it’s underwatered. It kept its leaves all winter until about a week before it was time to go outside for the summer, maybe I missed a watering. It makes me nervous to water them because they look like they would like to dry out. The Jatropha I’ve been letting dry out a little more. I would love to have this one, going to look around for it here in the US.

      Went and checked it out. They are sometimes called leaf flower, maybe part of the name for that reason. Looks like they are $30-$60 here for the most part.

      Vicky, sounds like you have an amazing collection! 🌿 Definitely check out the Phyllanthus mirabilis, it’s a unique addition! Leaf flower is a fitting name. Thanks for sharing! 😊 Happy growing! 🌱

    Hey Memo 👋🏼 think I got mine 3 yrs ago an in the US it was 80$ smaller than yours, but I love it! Only wish I could keep it warm enough from dropping leaves in the winter. 💚

      Maybe the leaf drop is a blessing... my adenium obesums tend to drop theirs during the winter season, and if they don't, they turn into spider mite magnets. This rarely happens in the summer.

      Hey Sherry! 🌿 Keeping them warm can be tricky! Maybe closer to a heater, but not too close? 😊

    Hmmm... I do wonder about propagation. With desert roses (adenium obesum), they can be propagated both via cuttings and via seeds. However, only the seed route results in a plant with a beautiful caudex. Cuttings will grow into plants with branches and even flower, but they will stay scrawny and lanky, and never develop a proper caudex. Maybe it's the same with this one...? Anyway, super interesting, I'd not even heard of this plant before.

      Great question! 🌿 Seed propagation does seem to yield better caudex development, from what I have heard too. Worth experimenting! Thanks for watching! 😊

    so I have a cercestis miribalis is this in the same family ?

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  2 місяці тому

      Cercestis mirabilis is a different species and genera, though they share the species epithet "mirabilis," indicating they might both be considered marvellous or extraordinary in some way, based on some of my research, but both are unique and beautiful! 🌿

    Why did you give up on the erecta. Take it out the pot and wash with isopropanol and finish off with a little soap wash. I have Stephanie Kawasaki ,nova , and 2 Stephanie erecta. Every spring I put them in a small humid propagator and they all wake up together. I have 2 erected and one tends to vine and one puts out lots of leaf. I think it's a male female thing as the little yellow flowers are different between the two
