I don't have a playstation but I remember when it came out there was nothing but surprised positivity about the original Astro Bot game. It seemed very cool to me but not cool enough to convince me to buy a playstation and a television
I imagine the people clowning on Jake about being excited for Astro Bot haven't actually played the Playroom and probably dismiss it as just a "kids game" or because of the PlayStation branding. That's just a guess though, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Anybody who was clowning on you for looking forward to Astrobot is crazy. That game looks amazing. I just pre-ordered it a few days ago, which is something I rarely do.
Game looks mid. Drench in brand nostalgia with no identity or soul of its own. Not worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as actual mascot platformers. Smh Hope that game goes double plastic. If this sells more than Sackboy their ain’t no hope for the brand identity anymore.

I’m curious about Avowed, obsidian does a Skyrim-esque thing in the Pillars universe, could be awesome, but I honestly haven’t seen enough to truly be “excited”. That and Outlaws are the only other major releases I’m actually interested in for the rest of this year I think
Random note how you liked the original crash bandicoot: I have a memory of playing the first game on a demo kiosk in a store. It was the very first screen of the game and I could not figure out at all what to do. Up until that point I had run to the right of a 2D screen, on a rare occasion run to the left even! But then I somehow realised - probably by random dpad presses - that you could run into the background of the screen! It destroyed my imagination...in a good way.

@@bobjacob4237 I paid the 140 dollar pre order. Personally i feel like ive gotten far more moneys worth out of the game. And now with mods its getting even better. Very fun game.
@SRW_ Yes, 1st 20 hours were great, and I really enjoyed it, but then a lot of the side quests started to feel quite similar to me so I needed something to pick the momentum back up. Which is fair as ya could say that about a lot of big RPGS. Honestly, 1 of the big RPGs like that I didn't think had any similar quests was the Witcher
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero for me, I've been a dragon ball fan since I was a little kid playing Budokai 1 on GameCube and i loved the Budokai Tenkiachi series on PS2. I can't wait.
@dylanbyard4594 Budokai 1 is what actually introduced me to the anime, and I got as many copies of the series on VHS as I could find, GT was mainly what I could find in the store so I had to rely on pawn shops/online dbz site at the time. I loved doing the tournament modes in all the games, just was so much fun.
Astrobot, Sackboy, Crash... They're all fun with diverse levels but without a story, they'll always fall short compared to something like Psychonauts 2. We need way more games like THAT!
Not every game needs a crazy story. That is what made older games fun a lot of the time. Just hop in and play levels in whatever order you feel like at the time. It’s moved so far in the other direction that a lot of games now a days are closer to a movie than a game
As someone who still has the bethesda rpg itch i can't wait for avowed and am glad they are sticking with the scope outer worlds because i already have so many long games im playing right now.
I am excited for Dead Rising remake. I'm not as hyped for it as I am for RE remakes because this one will be one-to-one remake but since I haven't played the original in years. I want to play this one as a fresh experience, especially since it will have a better survivor AI and some new gameplay additions.
I think I remember you saying that you like to play horror games during Halloween. If you dont have something in mind already, I recommend Still Wakes the Deep. It's pretty creepy. I wish I had saved it for Halloween myself.
Just Space Marine 2 that comes to mind for me, but Plucky Squire looks good & I'll be picking up Astro Bot likely at boxing day or black Friday if it's on sale. I'd buy it day one but I've got so many platformers in my backlog I can't justify it. Mostly hoping to get time this year to play a bunch of games I haven't gotten to over the years, but we'll see what I actually end up getting around to as most of this year has been spent getting my game room setup finally.
I am amped for the dead rising deluxe remaster, I hope that its more of a remake and we can actually move and aim guns, I'm hoping, maybe a sprint button?
I would say astro bot, zelda echoes of wisdom, mario and Luigi brothership, indiana Jones, and avowed. You're right, it's a bit of a quiet year but I don't mind it personally

I can't wait.
hell yeah!!
Same here. Been playing every dbz game since the OG budokai that played like tekken.
@DBZSZ1995 yes me and my friends had so many tournament parties with those games. Great times
Astro Bot and Dragon Age have me the most excited m
Metaphor is the only major one I think you left out! Also, Octopath 2 was phenomenal and definitely worth a check at some point.
Intrigued for the new Dragon Age game. The promotion for it has been pretty weak but I’m a big fan of the series so fingers crossed.
You had me at “I wanted to sit down and break down”
I really hope KCD2 gets to a bigger audience I wish there was more games going for a realistic RPG open world
Metaphor and expedition 33 ( don’t remember if that one’s 2024) are top of my list, would love to hear what you think about them.
Jake you are a great reviewer and have a very likable personality. I trust your views. Just about the entertainment level of games.
I would give my left thumb for them to do an Indiana Jones trilogy with Machine games.
fingers crossed they nail this one
Just Space Marine 2 that comes to mind for me, but Plucky Squire looks good & I'll be picking up Astro Bot likely at boxing day or black Friday if it's on sale. I'd buy it day one but I've got so many platformers in my backlog I can't justify it.
Mostly hoping to get time this year to play a bunch of games I haven't gotten to over the years, but we'll see what I actually end up getting around to as most of this year has been spent getting my game room setup finally.
Am I the only one who was low-key disappointed that the giant tree growing out of the ground had eyes?
I can't wait for astrobot I was excited when you said that you were going to play it.
Triple A mascot platformers needs to become a thing again.
1. Metaphor: ReFantazio
2. Avowed
3. Visions of Mana
4. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D
5. Frostpunk 2
6. Mirthwood
7. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
8. Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection
9. Y's X: Nordics
10. Sonic x Shadow Generations (maybe, depending on reviews)
Ignore the haters, Astro bot was awesome. It used the controllers mechanics properly! Very little has been done with that.
Great list Jake. I’m really excited to check out Enotria: The Last Song! I’m also looking forward to Astro Bot, Frostpunk 2, Stalker 2 and Black Myth Wukong. Always look forward to your videos!
Great video. I finished Astro's playroom recently so Astro Bot is looking great.
