- Free fix for Samsung LCD TV Model LN46C630 & LN55C630 strobing & flickering that worked on my 55". The information is based on online research that points to this fix being the same as a service tech would perform for this problem. The video is for educational purposes only, with no implied warranty of any kind.
Many have asked how they can contribute to my "beverage" fund after saving hundreds of dollars applying this free fix. If you are so inclined you can contribute to the fun via my Paypal account: gharward at gmail dot com. Big thanks to those who have contributed!
After fixing, please post your TV model number, the jumper number that you clipped (replies point to this fix also working on other models), and just for fun where you live.
All the best!
Just cut the wire on jp852 on my Samsung LN46C610N1FXZC and it did the trick!!! I can now enjoy a fliker free picture. THANK YOU GANSH and the others who confirmed the fix does work!!!! No thanks to the technician who charge me $114 to tell me I have to trash my tv and buy a new one. Samung should at least inform their channels how to do the repair. So, I'm in for the class action law suite if it happens.
And now count me among the true believers of this excellent video. It worked. You saved me a bunch of money and heartache my friend!
THIS WORKS.
This fix is so simple, all you need to do is remove the case and cut the wire like the video shows you. Nothing more than a screwdriver and a pair of nail clippers needed.
I just did this myself and everything is running beautifully.
I have a LN55C650 out of warranty with the same problem, and I contacted the Samsung. But all recommendations from the customer care did not work. I decided to follow the tip to cut the juper wire JP854, and it worked. Thank you so much!
I am a female over 55 years old and it took me 10 minutes to fix this tv. My little brother was going to give the tv to a thriftstore and i took it because i knew i would find a solution on youtube. Be sure to not force a screw in if it doesn't go in easily. Just take all the screws out again and start over making sure the speakers below are not hanging down to low, etc... No more flickering. Thank you so much! You and UA-cam ROCKS! THANK YOU GANSH1
THank you so much. We used this fix on our LE46C580. Very easy to follow. My husband is housebound and I bought this Samsung for picture quality! Flickering began just after the guarantee ran out. I tried all the eco saving fixes etc. I am nearly 60 and found this a very easy fix to follow. You have saved us £££s. Please let us know how to buy you a dink for the favour using Paypal. Regards, Mr and Mrs P.
THANK YOU! I was on the phone with Samsung and Best Buy for hours. My purchased B.B. warranty just ended 3 days ago and Samsung was useless. This fixed the problem and didn't cause a fire; it was easy.
I have the LN55C630 model and I must have gotten lucky with it, as mine started flickering about six months after my 3 year extended warranty ended. I just performed the fix. Super easy! The hardest part was getting the two top center screws out to remove the cover. I heated my solder iron and applied it directly to the screw heads for one minute each and VIOLA! Thanks for the video - it worked like a charm :D
I did this for the Samsung LN55C610 which as others note is the "warehouse club" version of the LN55C630. The replacement board is the same for the LN55C5610 and LN55C630 per an Interweb search. Clipped JP854 for the LN55C610, and so far so good. Samsung offered to help me find an authorized Samsung repair rep to help with the problem for regular out of warranty repair fees -- but I decided to give this a try first. Works so far, and I am not seeing anyone reporting it fails later.
dude you totally rock... the wire you mention is really flat and hard to cut, so I recommend using finger nail clippers.. worked like a charm... you saved my tv... and I feel like the quality might be a little better than before the flickering started a few months ago
Checking-in from North Idaho to confirm that this worked on my 46" Samsung LN46C630. I was about ready to toss this thing out of my second story bedroom window, but decided first to check the internet for a simple fix. Thanks for the video!
I did this on my Samsung LN46C750, about a year and a half ago when it started flickering. I just about took it in to have it fixed when I stumbled across this video. I held my breath as I clipped the jumper and I haven't had any problems since. Thanks for posting this.
It works!!! Just fixed my 2 yr old Samsung 46” L46C650 TV, it’s been flicking for a few months every once in a while. It has gotten worst lately to a point that the flicking is non-stop. I was about to throw it out and buy a new one but decided to check online for a “fix” first. I saw this video and gave it a try, my TV is now working perfectly. I will post again in a few weeks/months to share further results.
bought a Samsung LN55C650 ..... Saw it on craigslist for $300 and same problem and everything. TV flickers randomly or when you switch or open up apps... TV's priced alot more than than and I pretty much clipped that jumper wire and voala! Thanks very much for your guide! I owe ya!
Nights man. First of all, i want to THANKS for this awesome vid. Im from venezuela, and about 1year and a half ago, i bought a LN55C630 from Amazon. This begin to have that problem nearly this year, i still have warranty and i took it to a Samsung technical service and they cant do NOTHING, that was unbelievable for me. And a lot of TV technicians try and they never got the problem. Until today i saw this video. U save me $1300 thanks man! This really works! Greets from Venezuela.
worked great on my 3 year old 55" LN55C630. this is a pretty well documented fix, but this video was the most helpful to give me the confidence to go all Macgyver on my television.
Just want to say THANK YOU to the OP, gansh1. After being frustrated with the strobe effect on my 55" Samsung for a couple weeks, I finally decided to bite the bullet and give this fix a try. I have zero experience with this type of thing--in fact I'm the least handy person I know--but this was amazingly easy to do and now my TV works perfectly. Again, THANKS to gansh!
I been out of warranty and I was looking for a repair shop for the past week until I found this video. It worked!! Saved me a couple of hundred dollars a repair shop would charge me!
LN55C630; worked on mine so far. It began strobing sporatically a month ago, but recently became nearly constant. I performed this fix and it hasn't had a hiccup yet. Granted, it's only been 1 hour, but that's a milestone. I'll report any further strobing if it begins again, but if you don't see me post again, it worked.
Another happy user of this video. Have model LN46C630, followed your exact simple instruction, and bravely powered through it. Never opened up a TV befpre, let alone one I paid for myself out of pocket just over a year ago. Much appreciated, happy holidays.
Thanks! Worked like a charm. Had the flickering for years and thought the TV was junked. Since then I bought 2 other TVs but now I clipped the JP852 on my old 46" LCD and it works. I have an extra TV to put in my gym.
This worked great for my 46" Samsung. I did this about 8 months ago and the TV is still working like new.
I did too! I have the 55" LN55C610 as well. I followed the instructions for the video earlier tonight, and YES, snipping JP854 corrected the flickering issue for me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
I just did this fix last month and it worked! I have a 55C650 and it started flashing a few months ago. It used to go away just by turning it off and on again, but it finally stayed flashing no matter what. I read this and thought I'd give it a shot before burning $ on a repair. It was just as easy as described; the biggest issue was getting it off the wall, but once we did the fix took no time at all (used nail clippers) and it's been working great for a month now. Thank you for posting this!
I tried this fix on my samsung 55" and it work just as he said it would. I also check my capacitors on the power board while I was in their to see if the tops were popped up, all looked good, and tv is working great now. Hey thanks for saving me a bunch of money.
Thanks so much gansh1 you saved our day! It worked exactly like you said and we are all still alive and well. We have the 46" and it did work on our first try! We missed two of the screws while removing the back. It turned out that we had to look more carefully near power plug fitting and near the RF "antenna in" housing as they were hiding. THANKS SO MUCH! After we got the back off it took 3 seconds! The video really helped!
Just performed the fix on my 46c630...no more strobing. Working like it just came out the box!!! Many thanks for finding this!
Thank you very much for this video! Our screen has been flickering off and on for about a year now, we have been able to find temporary fixes until today when the flickering became constant. Found your video after searching our model number and it was very easy to follow your instructions. You just saved us from buying a new TV! Thank you again!
OK, I've opened up the back of my LN55C610, and it looks like the identical panel as the 630, complete with JP854 in the exact same location. Wish me luck...

UPDATE - October 1, 2019
Worked like a charm! THANK YOU!
Never a flicker again. Four weeks and counting...
Same problem as everybody. 55inch Samsung. Just started flickering. Did internet research, super skeptical about everything, but in the end I did it exactly the way this video described at 5 pm. Its 10 pm and the problem is solved. Bluray, apple TV, verizon fios all working perfectly. No Flicker (which was getting worse and worse). Clipped JP854. It worked. Totally.
Don't you love the power of communities? When people come together like to help each other that a lot of good stuff happens. Thanks!
anyone who is questioning the legitimacy of this....it works flawlessly. my tv has been flickering for a month. picture is as perfect as ever after this. thanks!
I can confirm this fix also works for the 46" LN46C610 - Really appreciate this post. Thanks very much! I did not note the jumper ID - just cut the one in the same location on my power board. After powering the set back on the problem is gone. Was dreading taking in for repair. Cheers!!
Wow!! is all I can say, It worked!! Yes, I am so greatful as raising a grandson and no
money for new tv. I did exactly what you stated and cut the jumper on my samsung LN55C630 MODEL it now works great! I will never buy anything else samsung for the rest of my life due to the poor customer service and how they treated me over the problem!!! I only purchased this tv a little over years ago. Oct 2010 to be exact! I will defineately put some cash in the beer fund as soon as I am able!! Thank You!!
I just completed this fix on my Samsung LN55C610 (Sam's Club version) and it worked perfectly. The entire fix took less than 15 minutes.
Worked like a charm on the LN46C650! So happy when we plugged it in and the flickering was gone. Thanks for posting!!
It works! Thank you.
PROTIP: There is a cover screw in the middle of where the outputs are at the bottom left. I didn't notice it at first in the authors illustration.
I'm having the exact problem with my Samsung LN46C630, just over 2 years old. Can't wait to try this out tonight!
finished cutting the jumper. Have a LN46C650, jumper was number "JP852". cut it with a pair of cosmetic scissors. Dynamic mode is working again and no flickering on any brightness setting. THANK YOU! At first when i replaced the back the TV didn't turn back on. I found out i had accidentally unplugged a black cord with a white head leading from the left circuit board (not the one you cut the jumper on) to the bottom of the TV, this was to the power button, plugged it back and everything's good!
Thanks for the tip! Just tried it on a 46" samsung I bought for $20. Working so far
Thank you soooo MUCH gansh1!
I have a Samsung LN46c630 that this worked on also. Extremely easy to repair and cost absolutely nothing except about 10 minutes of my time. ANYONE can do this repair. Really, don't hesitate to attempt if you are experiencing the flickering gansh1 mentioned and showed in his link during the video.
Thank you for this awesome fix, I have a samsung LN55C630 that started doing the flicker/strobe and thought my TV was done for. I was skeptical at first as to whether this repair would actually work, mostly because of the simplicity of it but I felt I had nothing to lose as the TV was unusable. Gave the repair a try and in less than 20 min. I had a working TV again, Thank you.
Checked my serial number, took it apart and cut wire... Back on the wall in less than 5min, just a phillips and a wire cutter. Working great so far!! No more flicker!
Worked great! Took all of about 20 minutes (mostly in taking screws out of the back of the tv). One screw that I missed and almost bent the back - it's seated in the middle of the connectors area. If you're having an issue getting the back off, and it seems like one of the connectors is holding it back, it's probably the screw there.
I have 55 inch TV...fixed it myself...thanks very much.....one caution here when you open the back panel...make sure you get all the screws...if you cant pull the panel out easily...it means you didnt unscrew them all.....especially ones near the hdmi input area...good luck and thanks for sharing..
~~~~Great video~~~~
Fixed my Samsung LN46C630.
Started flickering last night, looked like a strobe light at slow speed (all channels/inputs)
Watched your video...spent 10 minutes removing the TV, opening it up and clipped jumper JP852 with some wire snips.
Put everything back together and it works great with no more flickering.
Thank you for your excellent video and informative narrative!
Worked fine on mine, I didn't look for the jumper number, I went by your photos. Three weeks and no flicker. Used a nail clipper, taking the back off and on took the most time.
Thanks for the quick fix. It worked!!! I did a live chat with a Samsung support rep after identifying my exact model....LN55C630...55" LCD TV to complain about a recent problem of fliuckering/strobe....they said they have not had any reported problems for this model. I watched this quick fix video, performed the fix in about 20 minutes, and it worked. Watched a movie afterwards, perfect picture again!
You're the man -- i did it on my 46" and it worked like a charm (or at least it's working perfectly after 5 min of cutting the Jumper JP852)
This worked great for my 55 inch TV, thanks for posting this, it saved me a lot of money! The hardest part was getting my TV off the wall and then back up!
WOW!!! Thanks for the free fix. you saved us a lot of money. Our washer and dryer also went out within the past two weeks. Im becoming a mr fix it. Thanks for the amazing information
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!! I bought my LN55C630 in 2010 and it just started flickering. I thought I was gonna have to get another TV! I followed you instructions and in less than 15 min, by myself, the TV is good as new! thanks again man! Take care and Happy Holidays!!!!!!
Worked on my 46" 650. Thanks for taking the time to show us how easy this is. Now if only the maker of the TV would do this at the factory...
Thanks so much! Worked perfectly! I was on the phone w/ Samsung "executive customer service" trying to get them to pay for the repair. Totally ridiculous they wouldn't fix it themselves since it obviously has a design flaw. We should all still file for class action status. But two years past warranty, there's really nothing to lose to try a go at fixing it yourself.
10 minutes of watching and it still works...(okay, that's the last update I'll write unless something goes wrong or changes. )
You are the man brotha.... I was kicking myself cuz I have owned the tv for only18 months! Whoopeeee works like new! Big Thanks !!!!
Did what you instucted and it WORKS! GREAT! Thank you so much. Mine was a 55inch same model as yours.
This worked for me (55") - thanks very much. Saved me $300.
Bought the 46 for 150 because it was flickering... watched this video did the fix and it works perfect now! Thanks!!!
My LN55C630 flickered/strobed after less tab 300 hours. Cut jp854 and its worked perfectly for two weeks now thanks!
did it today on my Samsung LN46C650. worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
I just completed this "fix" and so far so good....I can't believe that it was as simple as clipping a jumper. Thanks!!!
Oh god. it worked flawlessly. Thanks so much. My model was LN55C650. I cut the metal piece, assembled back and it worked first time without a problem. Thanks again! you saved me some good bucks.
P.S: i would like to know, what really is that it happens when you cut the jumper. Thanks!
It works! Thanks for the video on this flickering. My ty set has been doing this flickering for about 3 months or more on an off. I didn't have any problems doing this but i didn't clip the jumper. I unsoldered just one side and left it there. I have the 46" Samsung LCD. Thanks gansh1. 6/29/2012
Thank you! The only downside to this fix is that I don't get to buy a new tv. I cut jumper 852 on my Samsung LN46C630. Total time to fix: 10 minutes.
Awesome fix works great did it 5 days ago and wife thinks it's a better picture. Thanks so much and Kudos from Key West!
Worked on my 52" LN52C530F1F thanks for the video save me from buying a new tv
It worked like a wonder - took about 20 min in total with perfectly normal visual output - Thanks again so much!!!
I just did this fix on the 55" model (LN55C630). The fix works.
tried this fix on my LN46C750 model and so far so good!
my jumper was JP852
I cut JP852 on my LN46C610 and it worked!!!!! Thank you so much
It works the same for the LN55C610.
THANK YOU!
Worked like a charm on my Samsung LN55C650. Jumper JP854. Thanks a lot!
46" samsung tv, a year or so old..took 5 minutes to unscrew and clip that naughty little wire and bingo.. no more strobing. again thank you
From Spain. It works perfectly for Samsung LE46C530. Thank you a lot.
Wow, can't tell you how thankful I am for this amazing video!! As mentioned in other posts, the fix took no more than 10 min. And seems to be working perfectly. Not sure if this is a permanent fix, but glad that I didn't have to spend extra money around the holidays to get this thing working properly again. I will repost if problem returns or other issues arise. Thanks again!!!
Gansh1.... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just did this, it took about 15 minutes give or take... can from what i can tell... NO STROBING.i dont have to worry about having a seizure while watching a movie... thank you very very very much.
Worked on my 46". Took 8 minutes. Looks like a brand new TV! Thank you!!!!
Thanks... GREAT video, it fixed our blinking problem, saves us $700 since we were going to just buy another TV!! We had the 46" TV and your suggested jumper was found and correct.
Thanks Greg. Have sent you a little pressie via paypal. Great video and gave me the confidence to jump in and fix it myself (despite my husband's misgivings).
This WORKED on LN55C650! It's a jumper labeled JP854 on the 55" inch models. Used a pair of finger nail clippers to snip the wire and had it back together and working perfectly ten minutes later! BE ADVISED that at least on the LN55C650 that many of the screws on the outer edges simply screw into what seems to be soft plastic. If you are not careful tightening these down they will strip quite easily! Use a hand screwdriver or an electric one on a low torque setting.
Bless you gansh1.... I did exactly what you said to do on my 46" Samsung, and it works perfectly! No more flicker!!!!! I was going to go out and get a new unit today. You saved me $800 (at least), my good man. THANK YOU!!!!
Works like a charm. We just did this. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Saved us over $800.
Just did the fix last night. Thank you so much for this video! I was getting headaches from watching tv on my LN55C630.
So far so good. Very simple job, just take your time and everything will be fine. Thank you and good luck to everyone else who runs into this problem.
excellent, it did work. thank you very much for loading this video. I strongly recommend this fix if someone has this issue with samsung TV. Thank you once again.
This was an easy fix and I am thankful to the intelligence of others and their awesome kindness in sharing with the world! (UA-cam)
I have an 8 year old 52" Samsung LCD TV (LN52B530) which began flickering intermittently a week ago. I cut JP854, which did not change the flickering and did not negatively impact the TV either. So, based on this video, I cut JP852 as well and as of now, the TV still works. I'll update if the flickering returns, fingers crossed that this fix worked.
thank you soo much, I used your direction and fixed mine. You are a life saver. Fixed LN46C630.
Cut the jumper on my LN52C530 and it worked perfect!
Thank you for this video! It worked for my 46" model. I'm hoping this fix does the trick so I can get at least another year out of this TV. Thanks!
Completed the fix for LN46C610 last night, 5 mins later the strobe light effect is gone!
My model had a JP852 jumper. Scariest to snip that little wire and then turning it back on to see if it worked and glad it did! what a joke that this many people have the problem and Samsung doesn't give a crap about it!
Thank You !!!!! I wish I found this earlier before I replaced all my capacitors and bought a new power board... You are the Man ... Thanks again .. Also worked on my LN46C670
Excellent video. It worked flawlessly on my LN55C630
Awesome just did this used a power screw driver cost me 6.99 for the wire cutter saved months of anguish arguing with Samsung over their knew problem and having to wait 5 months till I went back home to send them my original receipt.
Amazing. Worked perfectly. Felt almost silly that it was all I had to do. No problems since whatsoever.
I did it!!! Myself and my 13 year old daughter, we took the back off, snipped it and yayyy .. .it worked!!!!!
just used this fix to fix my reoccurring strobe that seemed to be getting worse! So far so good.
just did this about 20 mins ago with the 55 inch works perfect so far. Thanks so much
This worked for me. Took under 10 minutes. Awesome!!! Saved so much time and trouble. I have 46" version.
