    I watch Star Wars primarily for three characters: Han, Chewie..and the Falcon. This is the most amazing rendering I have ever seen! I found myself checking the details..both on my Code 3 model and that waay cool '07 Legacy Collection piece. I have some fan made "blueprints" from the early '80s that still make me smile..even though the artists had to guess what rooms go where. A thoroughly victorious project!

    I might point out: The orientation of seats vs. guns is 180 degrees off: when they were firing the guns, the cannons were supported from "beneath" as opposed to suspended from "above" (orientation in quotes since top/bottom, up/down, below/above are concepts relative to either prevalent perspective or centre of gravity).

    • @SonnySanVista
      @SonnySanVista 8 років тому +1

      +DOODER1091 isn't a parsecs a unit of distance not time?

    • @larnregis
      @larnregis 8 років тому +3

      +GhostenGamer yes, but the Kessel run is a route with many black holes.
      The goal is to make the route as short as possible by flying closer to the black holes. This however needs good navigational computers and a powerful ship engine to get that close.
      Thus Solo wasn't really referencing the falcons speed, but the very good navigational control which allowed him to take a shorter (yet riskier) route.

    • @thaliapanacea964

      It wasn't a fan theory. It came from several of the Star Wars books written in the 90's. (I didn't like this much back then, but the admittedly weird way they explained it has grown on me as I took physics in college.) The Maw was a smuggler run near a supergroup of galaxies and black holes. To go anywhere near the event horizons was dangerous, because there's no sign that says, "Event horizons here." Skimming too close would be worse than a quick death. Dying in a black hole takes years, as every black hole distorts time. Current astrophysics theories predict you'd be able to watch time go in reverse for a few million years (time is distorted, so you wouldn't experience time normally, and may even live out those million years watching shit run in reverse). Then fracturization breaks your bones, and then spaghettification pretty much squeezes the body like Play-Dough through a Fun Factory press, into a thin noodle. By then, a person would die, and that would be a relief. Black holes are a terrible way to die, even if one of the predictions are accurate.
      From what George Lucas said in the distant past, he knew a parsec was a unit of distance, not time. George Lucas wanted Han to say this, to gauge whether or not Obi Wan and Luke would notice. He was testing how gullible they were, so he'd know if he could charge them more for the ride off Tatooine. At least that's what George Lucas has said in documentaries as far back as 1977-78. There's a REALLY old documentary hosted by C3PO and R2. If you can find it, it's pretty funny. Try a public library with an old video tape collection.

    Where is the elevator to the top hatch? Remember when Lando Calrisian
    "Billy Dee Williams" rode that narrow elevator hatch to go save Luke,in The Empire Strikes back? This
    happened when Luke chose to take a long drop to escape Vader after he cut Luke's right
    hand off. I believe Vader thought he was dead. But then,when the Millennium Falcon flew across the
    Super Star Destroyer's Bridge Window , Vader was standing there and he sensed Luke's Life Force
    again. "Luke". -"Father?" "Son...come with me." "Ben...why didn't you tell me?"
    Once the Falcon went into Hyperspace, Vader walked away from the Bridge Window...
    Only this time, Vader was walking was a bit slower,almost like he was experiencing a feeling
    of depression. Even the Officers on Deck 1,and 2 could see something different in Vader.,
    as he left the bridge. None of them spoke out of line, but all of them were thinking, "Lord Vader
    isn't his usual , determined self." God,I could write a book on this subject. Vader was being too
    silent.

    1) yes, this was all built in sketchup.
    2) I made this using a little of both: I found some blueprints of the original movie sets, and I picked up the details by watching the movie a million times (plus behind the scenes photos and sites with frame by frame screencaps)

  • @finfito
    @finfito  12 років тому

    You are correct, and I've been wondering if anyone would catch that. The "off" orientation of the gun turrets is due to the orientation of the ladder in the access tube. In order for it to be against the wall, the way it appears in the movies, the guns have to face the wrong direction entirely. In fact it's not quite 180, they're backwards and off to the port side of the Falcon. This was another design oversight by the movie crew, caused by different people working on the interior and exterior.

    Xtraflo, this what I think as well. The main hold we see in the movies is all the cargo space the Falcon has (and all Han needs) in my opinion. I don't think she's meant to haul large quantites of goods like a normal freighter; she's been modified by Solo to smuggle small high-value shipments quickly. As a side note, the interior seen in my video is based exclusively on the movie sets, so it wouldn't include any theoretical extra space (or bathrooms, for those who keep asking about them)

  • @finfito
    @finfito  12 років тому

    Those boxes pre-date companion cubes by more than 30 years. The art department on A New Hope used a lot of scrap parts from the aviation industry to dress the docking bay 94 set. But I'm not sure what the boxes actually are.

  • @finfito
    @finfito  12 років тому

    @IWDTC the idea is that the artificial gravity changes direction inside the gun turrets, so that they seem to be sitting up in chairs that are actually perpendicular to the floor in the rest of the interior.

  • @finfito
    @finfito  11 років тому

    • @CenturianEagle
      @CenturianEagle 7 років тому

      ascarifx if you're watching on a phone (iPhone for instance I can tell you what the directions are as that's what I'm using) you can click the gear in the top right, and click watch in cardboard assuming you have one of those cheap virtual reality cardboard things. The video wasn't completely designed for it so there's not really like legitimate super cool head tracking like most vrs have, but it's still cool to see in the cardboard, and to imagine what a game of the future is gonna be like where you're walking around your very own falcon in virtual fockin reality!!!!!!!! If you don't have te cardboard you can still click watch in cardboard, and you can aim the phone forward and click "recenter" so it aligns with your line of sight, and then you can cross your eyes a certain way and relax them, to do what I like to call the poor man's VR. It will give you a 3D image but it's not nearly as cool as using a virtual reality device like the cardboard thing or better. The design and technology of you wanna call it that; behind those cardboard things, is essentially doing what the crossing your eyes thing does. Real videos that were made for vr though are a lot more immersive and have head tracking, so you can move your head around, and the phone/glasses a long with it, giving you the illusion that you are really there looking around- changing which things you wanna look at. Porno isn't bad LOL I finally know now what it looks like to have some super hot beeeotch's ass in front of me!

      Dude Ster please you mean. At least you said thanks, but demanding someone to do something like this is pretty rude. But at least you said thanks so perhaps I'll let this slide. Would be worse to see one of those comments that just says "DO _______________!" (Ebon hawk for instance- I personally wouldn't mind seeing that one.) it's just like, they're not even acknowledging this one, they're immediately into the next- not grateful or thankful at all, just consuming **NOM NOM NOM!!!** ready to consume more! Jesus people are rude. You're not too bad though I can see you simply are requesting it lol

  • @finfito
    @finfito  12 років тому

    @einherje71 The movie set of the full scale exterior of the Falcon is about 85.5 feet, or 26.06m, long. Because my interiors and exteriors are replicas of those sets, my exterior is that size. However, the interior would never fit inside the ship if it was really that size, which is why theoretical figures, such as 40m, are sometimes given.

    rickymontero: I agree about the pauses, future versions will have a smooth camera path.
    I will be using a program for rendering, once all the details are complete. At the moment I've identified 26 areas that need serious attention in the interior alone, so who knows when that will be.
    if you know of a reliable rendering engine for sketchup, which can handle soft shadows, and multiple light sources (and I've tried a few that just don't cut it) I'm all ears.

    My thought is this. Most of the Cargo space has been used up by the Hyperdrive. Supposedly, the the Hyperdrive engine is aftermarket, and put in by one of the previous owners. Plus,, I'm sure Han added a little to the engine as well - again, taking up most of the Cargo space.
