    Helpful tip every man should know... Spit on it! Seriously, get spit on the line where knotting to lubricate it so as to avoid some of the friction on the line when tying a not. More of a factor for monofilament, but i still do it when using braided line anyways.

    Very well done video.
    We called that a blood knot, but when we tried it on a stress tester (this was way back in the 80s) it didn't do as well as the knot we called Palomar which was also simple and elegant. Important to wet the line when tightening as well since frictive forces weaken the material during tightening.

    Always wet your knots before pulling tight, and another great tip is blob the tag end by burning for a second with a lighter, the blob forms as another great back up should you not slip at all what so ever. As for being a boilie knot, it isnt really a hair rig as you go back through the eye with this but its a good knot for rigs if you use swivels or rings for boilie attachment to the hook, good video, just searching some for my little son, as I think him watching them rather than me telling helps a lot as I tend to just do my various rigs and knots to fast when I show him but expect him to have seen lol

Got home and when I went to UA-cam later that night that same band was in my recommend list. Hadn't Googled or searched for them on my phone, only played the cd in the car & it's an older model Civic with no modern gps/Bluetooth/connectivity etc. Creeped me out too, only explation, phone is listening!! (Or even scarier, it wasn't listening to the music in the car but reading my mind about what music I wanted to listen to!!!🤯 Hopefully we're not quite at that point yet!!)Cheers 👍

    I learned it differently. I learned to double the line as it goes through the eye, otherwise the metal might cut the line. With a double line through the eye that cuts the tension in half and eliminates almost completely the possibility of that happening. Otherwise it’s a pretty simple butcher’s knot with a couple extra turns.

      When I was a young lad I would tie a triple granny knot with amazing success. Too funny to think about things that you used to do . Now I use what I believe is called a "Blood Knot" which ends up looking like the knot shown here. The difference between the two knots is that I loop the line then insert it thru the eyelet and continue the process. The loop gives you a stronger and more durable knot where the line meets the metal . Never has this style of knot ever failed me.

    I’ve picked up hooks from the river and have seen this knot and always wondered how to do it. I’m a fly fisherman but if I did fish spinners I’d do this for sure. Looks mighty strong

      As a fly fisherman are you not allowed to use bait caster or spinning reel set-ups? I'm asking for a friend.
      I use bait casters usually, but I have 3 spinning reels and 3 fly rods in my boat. I can fish 2 rods, so it's nice having a bobber or carolina rig out while playing with a fly rod.

      This one seems more friendly if you are using a spade eyed hook, tying directly to a main line, or are tying it to a leader with a swivel already tied on. The profile of the two knots seem almost identical to each other

    There's a problem with this knot that my son and I discovered when he did a science project on fishing knot strength in middle school. The wire that the hook is made from has a sharp edge that monofiliment line gets cut on under tension. Other knots that wrap around the line instead of the hook shank are about 20% stronger since the hook itself isn't cutting the line.

    • @tylermauk8561

      That won't really matter unless you're fishing for something 15lbs or larger

    • @smokenjoe4022
      @smokenjoe4022 2 роки тому +9

      The line cutting sounds more like a hook problem rather than a knot problem! Not all hooks are equal no one hook works for all application and no one knot works for everything🤷🏻‍♂️! But l do like your knot I’ll make good use of it thanks !!
