I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Augustine Willie I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
You should add the 100 grit stone as soon as possible, going from 50 to 140 is too large of a jump, getting the 100 grit will make removing the scratch pattern WAY easier.
Yeah.. higher grits would take forever and back to get deep low grit scratches out.. smaller stepups save time and give better result in the end.. also not contaminating higher grits with low grit dust is important
I couldn't agree more. I have both, and if you need to go to the 50 grit, the 100 grit makes it a whole lot easier to get those deep scratches out of your edge. Besides that, f you are only removing small chips, you don't necessarily need to go all the way to 50 grit, and the 100 may be adequate for the job, The less metal you remove the better.
You deserve a major thumbs up and great results on it. It's like it's impossible to get rid of those stupid scratches. I try to get rid of them, but I can never do it, AND IM ONLY SHARPENING WITH SHORT BEVELS! you're doing it with basically with the tallest bevel, a scandi grind, I can't imagine. That would drive me insane. Great job.
I used to sharpen with a clamp system and I found if you bring the clamp closer to the handle to get the heel of the blade and it lowers your angle at the tip, just bring your tip forward a little and that will make your angle more acute. It will also help you match the angle of the arm side to side at the heel.
I absolutely loved this video. I could probably watch 20 minutes of you sharpening to this music. I'm waiting to hear some Aerith's theme, maybe that really nice Gold Saucer stuff. like at the end of the Mog House Game or in the Date music from the cable cars.
To get a proper mirror edge you have to do a few things differently. You have to remove the previous scratch pattern from the stone before it. To do this you can start by swiping the rods from one side to the other. Then the next stone go up and down. That way you have the pattern going in one direction and you can see the pattern removed on the next stone going the other way. Then I. Your finer grits you don't want to go back and forth you just want to take it one direction. So no left to right or up and down, just one direction, lift and then start again. The other thing is the films are not idea for good mirror edges. Preferred to use diamond spray or paste and wood blocks (basswood or mdf) or leather strops. Using 4 micron, 1 micron,. 5 micron,. 1micron Should get you where you want to go. It's pretty much technique. Also the diamond strops will give your edge a bit more toothy edge unlike other abrasives. Tip Per big brown bear.
Rewatching this because I'm currently in the process of doing the same to my Mora Robust. Definitely been a lot longer than an hour at 50 grit... & that's just for one side! 8-[
Talk about a time consuming project! Turned out nice though. I add a 👍 on almost all your vids because i appreciate all the hard work you put in. Keep it up especially once you figure out the new schedule with family and work
Great Results Pete!!! I got a rough mirror polish on my Busse Battle mistress, its Great for Annoying People reflecting Sunlight :-))) On a serious note I Actually used it as a mirror to get a piece of Blackthorn bark out of my eye!
Beautiful job...but the insane length of time it takes to put these proper awesome edges on a knife, is the reason I went to using a consistent angle slow speed belt sharpening system. Even uses a leather belt and compound for quicker stropping.
Your music always sends me back, gonna go search for my PSP 😁 I've been holding off buying a PSP Vita all these years but, now there are so many awesome games for cheap and Y's games....yep my geek is showing..Sorry Pete got off topic ...nice looking knife.
Dude (!), that`s beautiful But Brutal ! 4 hours sharpening Damn. But I`ve been 24 hours on my BR Bushcrafter in 3V. Just to make it a flat scandi. Not all in one day obviously lol. I love a scandi polished edge!
I love wider primary bevel with zero grind / scandi grind knives - Hultafors and Terrava Jaakaripuukko. Their primary bevel gets narrow at the tip and I think it makes the tip slightly more robust. I doubt those KME-like sharpeners can do that. They will only make the primary bevel at the tip wider or same.
It’s funny I was thinking about trying that on mine don’t know if it was possible but now I know it is thank you and damn you at the same time great job love your videos thanks
Am I the only Australian with a KME system thats wondering where you can get a replacement knob/handle for it? What it comes with makes it such a pain in the ass to use compared to some other systems and in the US you can get decent replacements for like $1.50 on amazon but they won't ship them to aus. I'm at a loss on where to get them here. I mean its a piece of plastic with a 1/4 inch thread in it. It shouldn't be that difficult to come by but there it is.
The steel on the bushcraft black doesn’t seem to like to wear a mirror polish, I put one on mine and instead of the smooth, shiny bevel I’ve put on knives like my garberg, the only quality that I could describe the bushcraft bevel having was that it was exceptionally flat.
Honestly you should be pushing the stone into the blade not pulling it away. You will get a sharper edge with a cleaner burr. Pushing the stone into the blade then lifting it off and not doing the pull back stroke will make your edges insanely sharp and this is the best way to use one of these guided angle sharpeners. There's a great video by work sharp where they use the push in, pull back, and the sawing motion and use a sharpness tester and the push in beats every other way. It leaves cleaner edges, a better burr, a less scratches. They even inspect it with a microscope to show you the micro scratches.
Four hours of fun producing this beauty, then a video?! Wow. I'm inspired to invent a new acronym -- W.S.F. ...Wife Security Factor. Yours must be thinking, "Pete? No chance of him getting into mischief. I just let him buy knives."
Hey man my question might be a stretch but I have a 496 vector and I was wondering if u could use the worksharp precision adjustment to get a mirror edge on the recurve
Just curious, but have you tried the convex arm for the KME? Was wondering if it would work for a Bark River convex grind or if it would totally mess it up.
Tim Gannon I think the placement of the knife makes a difference. I tried it, but it left an uneven microbevel on the tip. It came out sharp as hell though. I placed the clamp in the middle as well as Pete
I got Aurora and Gunny, and I just freehand. Personally I feel scandi is the easiest by following the preexisting bevel; convex is second easiest, just relax your wrist and use light pressure.
To be honest, every knife I ever sharpened ended up becoming a convex... including my Moras, they became scandi-vex. I think it's because people sharpen their knives differently, and making convex bevel simply feels most natural to me.
Hey thanks for the video and time. I am working on my mora now dang you. I got one just to go camping two weekends ago. Im a fan. Ordered a CS finn wolf folder too. What is the steel in the bushcrafter the companion os soft
Great video, I am really enjoying your channel. I also have the KME system, but I do not have the lapping films, but I do have all four cbn emulsion(4 micron-0.1 micron) with kangaroo strops, am I able to obtain the same results, or do I need to get those lapping films also? Thanks!
Do the stones on that system load fairly quick? Being they are so small? I just recently bought all new equipment after my sharpmaker stones wore out. I went with all benchstones and strops cause I figured they wouldn’t load as fast.
bp69 they all do eventually. Then you can make them flat again with a diamond plate but it takes a long time and not really worth it. It’s not they are completely worn out just not giving me the crisp edge they used to.
Matthew Forrest huh I’ve never worn out spydercos ceramic I’ve gotten them loaded with metal but you just clean them I’ve also never heard of people having to flatten them either
Matthew Forrest oh okay spyderco stones are good as long as your not reprofileing anything or sharpening super steels I would get a a dmt plate for super steels and reprofiling also you may have carbide tear out with steels that have high vanadium carbide idk about that though as I haven’t tested it and ken shwartz coumpond is good
Wow. I’m now considering KME purchase. Curious how long this took you from start to finish? (I don’t think you mentioned this in vid..sorry if I missed it) Cheers
I understand you just tweaked the angle until the pen ink disappeared, but did you note the angle that it worked out to on your KME? Someone told me Moras were 24 degrees but I have no idea.
Just looked up MKE knife sharpening system. Too rich for my blood. I’ll stick to the method from Jacklore knives. Sandpaper and a piece of hard plastic, knife held by a welding magnet. Looks like a really great system, but very pricey as well.
Pete- That is a lot of work for a Mora. Don't get me wrong, I like Mora, but I'd have bought a new one. I know you were just experimenting. The mirror edge turned out nice.
How long did this process take? I have use a similar system and my whole body hurt after an extensive re-profiling of a scandiground knife.. #mirrorporn
well, I thought so, until the kme revealed how wonky my previous whetstone inflicted grind was. Not to mention how many stones you’d need to get up to mirror. Also you would need some pretty excellent control to manage the belly portion and keep it even. Someone with a lot of whetstone skill may say it still is though, I dunno
As silly and unnecessary as it is to mirror polish a scandi ground woods knife, I find myself wanting to do that to my Bushcraft Black now. You sir, are a very bad influence! Damn you man! Nice job though..it looks "purdy". I wonder how many IG pictures of mirror polished bushcraft knives we will be seeing now, lol.
Yeah it mainly means it looks nice you’ve got me there. Luckily if you watch this video you’ll see its also very sharp as an added bonus. Utter madness au
I get these same mirrors, the kind that look amazing in certain lights and angles then in others it looks kinda cloudy or something. Then I see edges like theapostlep and I'm just like fuck..
Nick Shabazz! You've created a Mirror Monster!
8 hours sharpeninimg a $50 knife??? Sounds like something I would do, but only if I had something else really important to do.
Lol same for me.. like finally writing my bachelors thesis...xD
I would appreciate it more if it was freehand
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Bo Casey instablaster ;)
@Augustine Willie I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I was literally just wondering what a polished Scandi grind would look like as I was going to sleep last night!! Thanks for reading my mind Pete!
It looks amazing imo.. I love that contrast between black and mirror
You should add the 100 grit stone as soon as possible, going from 50 to 140 is too large of a jump, getting the 100 grit will make removing the scratch pattern WAY easier.
good advice I will definitely do that. Those deep scratches are troublesome
Absolutely. Amen to that there Aaron.
EDC with Aaron it most definitely will I would also add a .1 micron strop just to make sure the bur is totally gone
Yeah.. higher grits would take forever and back to get deep low grit scratches out.. smaller stepups save time and give better result in the end.. also not contaminating higher grits with low grit dust is important

I like to live dangerously and remove the microbevels on my scandis. The pinpoint accuracy and effortless glide through wood is worth the risk imo.
REBEL!! 😉 I agree!!
What a great little project.
Really nice job, love the kitty too...
Makes it look so much cooler with the mirror polish. Nice job!
It went ok, a lot of adjustments required, I haven't finished it yet, just got the reprofiling done so far
I absolutely loved this video. I could probably watch 20 minutes of you sharpening to this music. I'm waiting to hear some Aerith's theme, maybe that really nice Gold Saucer stuff. like at the end of the Mog House Game or in the Date music from the cable cars.
Looks good Pete. Glad you are enjoying the KME. Great system. I think I like sharpening as much or more than the knives themselves.
Bob Snyder same

As a Scandi knife guy, that was bloody awsome!
Nice! I put a similar edge on my Adventure Sworn Mountaineer. Feather sticking is a whole new world. lol
Good job on that edge mate. BTW, interesting choice of music 😊
Rewatching this because I'm currently in the process of doing the same to my Mora Robust. Definitely been a lot longer than an hour at 50 grit... & that's just for one side! 8-[

Could you please start over? I wasn't paying attention.
Finally! A wife cameo.
You should craft a simple display for that knife, to show off the polish, and people can check their makeup.
That's makes some great feather sticks at the end 👌
Great Results Pete!!! I got a rough mirror polish on my Busse Battle mistress, its Great for Annoying People reflecting Sunlight :-))) On a serious note I Actually used it as a mirror to get a piece of Blackthorn bark out of my eye!

Thanks. I wanted to know a more about this sharpening system! What a beautiful job.
Well done Mate! Thanks for showing us how to
You Little Ripper ! A Great Job You did Sir .
awesome job. that knife looks sick
Beautiful work! Those single bevel knives can be difficult to get a good polish on!
I’m going to try this with my edgepro.
Your music always sends me back, gonna go search for my PSP 😁 I've been holding off buying a PSP Vita all these years but, now there are so many awesome games for cheap and Y's games....yep my geek is showing..Sorry Pete got off topic ...nice looking knife.
That's bad ass!! Really like the looks of that..not sure if my wicked edge will do a scandi...but I'll find out in the morning!! Well done peter
So.... How did that go for ya.
Dude (!), that`s beautiful But Brutal ! 4 hours sharpening Damn.
But I`ve been 24 hours on my BR Bushcrafter in 3V. Just to make it a flat scandi. Not all in one day obviously lol.
I love a scandi polished edge!
Nice jacket. You should do a few Kathmandu reviews. Great job on the Mora, the KME seems the logical upgrade to the Lansky.

Your intro music is "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho" deadass lmao
Sir you made that knife look awesome! !!!!. I want to learn how to mirror polish all my blades.
Well done. I'm surprised you were able to match the very shallow angle that the scandi grinds have. Did your KME angle come in slightly steep?
I’m wondering the same thing. Let me know if you ever figured out how to achieve the stock shallow angle of a Mora on the KME!
Good sharpening job!

how did you manage to reach that angle with the kme? I have it also but the angle isn't low enough to match the 13° of the scandi
Four hours of fun producing this beauty, then a video?! Wow. I'm inspired to invent a new acronym -- W.S.F. ...Wife Security Factor. Yours must be thinking, "Pete? No chance of him getting into mischief. I just let him buy knives."

I came to see Basil mostly... but nice work on the Mora also. Baton it! (I mean the Mora, not Basil.)
Just curious, but have you tried the convex arm for the KME? Was wondering if it would work for a Bark River convex grind or if it would totally mess it up.

It'd be cool if you did a reprofiling/mirror polish job on a regular edge and used a timer to show exactly how long u stay on each stone/film.
Love the Final Fantasy music
Do the stones on that system load fairly quick? Being they are so small? I just recently bought all new equipment after my sharpmaker stones wore out. I went with all benchstones and strops cause I figured they wouldn’t load as fast.

Just one word from me; WOWWW
Looks amazing m8,I will send you mine to do 😉😜
I understand you just tweaked the angle until the pen ink disappeared, but did you note the angle that it worked out to on your KME? Someone told me Moras were 24 degrees but I have no idea.
Total, 12 dps !!!

Would be a lot faster with naniwa waterstones and white bark river compound strop but yeah you got there, nice job.
Finest not really diamonds cut way faster and cbn polish’s and cuts faster
would it work with the worksharp?
Me to lazy, I just biffed the blade on my wheel w/ rough, then used the KME to sharpen to 1500 g. But yours is perfect. Mucho perfecto!!!
Pete- That is a lot of work for a Mora. Don't get me wrong, I like Mora, but I'd have bought a new one. I know you were just experimenting. The mirror edge turned out nice.
I did it using sandpaper and a strop. Took FOREVER to get it done. Lol, now I don't want to use it. But it's pretty lol.
Beautiful !
What angle did you use?
how does the edge hold up without the microbevel? my companion chipped
shallmaneser scandi grinds aren’t exactly tough if your using it hard you’ll need to either convex the edge or put a microbevel on it
Beautiful
That's awesome!
Mirroing like nutella. We wanna see mirroing root-like!!
GREAT Job 👍
I cant believe 50 grit would even bite into a knife. My God, thats a low grit.
ah, the Balamb Garden music
I honestly started watching you more just because I’m an Final Fantasy 9 nerd haha but the content is great but FF9 is the best one
Enjoyed the video. But the music that played when you were showing the mirrored edge was horrendous.
Very nice
Yesss
Daaamn son!
How long did this process take? I have use a similar system and my whole body hurt after an extensive re-profiling of a scandiground knife.. #mirrorporn
yeah definitely in the 4 hour range
Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors That's brutal...
Yeah I did this to mine a few years ago. Never again. Took forever.
Looks good man🙂👍🏻 Nice curls at the end also👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍆
spider5001 why the egg plant emoji
wouldnt this be much easier on a whetstone?
well, I thought so, until the kme revealed how wonky my previous whetstone inflicted grind was. Not to mention how many stones you’d need to get up to mirror. Where's the batman mask!.....
Wait...
You still have some cloud but you still get a pass. I love black blades with a mirrored edge.
I am sensing a nationwide shortage in .1 micron films for the KME.
then make your own... it's pretty damn easy...
And polishing accomplishes what in terms of functionality, and just because a knife is polished doesn't mean it's sharp.
Yeah it mainly means it looks nice you’ve got me there. Luckily if you watch this video you’ll see its also very sharp as an added bonus. Utter madness au
@@CedricAda Why yes it does look very sharp.................................................
😳👍👍😍

That mirror is straight pornographic! As in... There are people on the other side of the mirror watching you.
mora-less :)
I get these same mirrors, the kind that look amazing in certain lights and angles then in others it looks kinda cloudy or something. Then I see edges like theapostlep and I'm just like fuck..
