I just ordered a 2018 wrx and I just think I would look so much better with the wing. But I don’t want to look like a rice cake with a wrx badge and a big ol sti wang
How has this held up since install? I’m thinking of adding one to my 2018 sti that came with the duck bill, which I also think looks good. However, everytime I look at the car, I feel like it’s missing something. No leakage or any cracks on the wing? Those are my main concerns, as well as the paint match. This looks super great though in the video! Thanks in advance to a response 😊
It held up fine throughout summer and winter. Whites the most difficult color to match, but it’s hard to tell. Nobody ever noticed. Doesn’t leak. The 3m tape creates a pretty good seal but wouldn’t hurt to add some touch up to the metal paint for safe keeping. Interesting. I have the low profile on my white 2018 STI, and apart from the lack of police attention, I do often think about it not having the larger wing. I'm concerned about water ingress though, as it doesn't look like you sealed some of those holes up very well, especially on the low profile replacement?
I looked forever for a swap, but just couldn't find it. IIR came in clutch with the paint-matched OE version. In 2015 I believe it was an option on one of the trims. The wing is a staple on the car, it a must-have.
About to do this install as well.. did you leave any gaps between any of the 3m tape on the wing and lip delete so that water can escape out? Or did you just did the tape all the way? Not sure because I hear other people do that..
Nice, have fun! I taped it all the way around and cut extremely close to the edge where it lined up so there was basically no gap. For the lip delete, there's nowhere for the water to get trapped it simply covers the holes.
The trunk hole cover will is meant for the low-profile spoiler :( There's 3 bolts for each side of the wing on OEM (I believe...) You could maybe find some plugs for the holes, but either way it's likely not going to look that great. I would not run it without plugging them up. It's easier to trunk swap with someone especially if you're the one with the wing, plus you can get extra $$ on top. Wing owners always request cash on top for the swap.
It should be snug and no more. I held up the wing so has I tightened it, it pulled it down onto the trunk and once the gap was gone I just gave it one ore two more turns.

Yeah I’m glad I added it. Honestly; nobody will notice or know that you added it. But it will look nice. I’m thinking about upgrading mine and going even bigger 😏

STI just isn't the same without the wing! Best thing is you did the lip delete, so much cleaner now!
Totally agree on the lip. It looked so weird, even though the wing nested perfectly in it.

I swapped trunks out to get rid of the wing….pretty sure mine is still a real STI.

No issues with both the wing and low profile cover. Everything is sealed off pretty well 👍

The 3M tape came with the wing for me. It's automotive 3M tape, you can find it on Amazon!

Definitely. They have a carbon hybrid with the top portion being carbon and a full carbon style wing.
