Ironically, a BMW isn't really 'upper' class. It's just a 'nicer' car than average that comes with a price premium. Similarly, the 600i only looks extravagantly posh because CIG has decided to make most of the other ship designs more utilitarian (uglier) aesthetically. The Origin look is basically 'standard' in some other scifi universes. In Mass Effect, EVERY car looks like an 85X.
Lucid Strike I would argue they have simply opted to maintain a range of classes within a single race, in fact. That makes it a higher class. The 600i might be considered middle class, like a BMW. Maybe the 890 Jump will be considered Upper Class.
600i needed more info to clear up the confusion. This would have been a PERFECT opportunity to clear the air with great details about the vessel. WHY didn't CIG take this opportunity and use it?

Of course the systems are really important I mean they are what give the ships purpose. But I think with knowing how far in development your ship X is is more satisfying than just sitting out 30 minutes for info you could've said in 10. These videos are packed full of information and with the views of the devs what is in my opinion way more interesting.
This video actually did give more information about the role and style of the 600i. The designer spoke about transporting ambassadors and adding more rooms. I will watch again but very happy with the 600i segment. The 300i and the 890j were discussed, but the focus remains on making the 600i first to get the style guide, and you honestly can't say you don't like where we are headed.
600i much further along than expected, really nice to see. I had some concerns after seeing how the 85X turned out as I wasn't happy with this, but the larger ships are living up to their name.

Ok its a bit hard to wrap my head around the layout of the origin 600i explorer but i think i have got it now. the observation area is above the drop lift where the rover goes and there is more cargo space in a room towards the middle of the ship.
The stone wall as you enter the ship makes this sound more like a Bentley than a BMW; but then the 85x looks more like an Aston Martin than a BMW as well..
Exemplary model work, the styling and textures are exquisite. When people wonder why a digital object costs so much, it's because they can't fathom value in this type of work. When you design a digital model like this, you make something out of nothing. In the future I predict all of this 'nothing' will be a vast treasure to something, somewhere. Vast. I value this digital artistry, you have my most humble respect for your art.

I was hoping for a better understanding of "Touring" as a game mechanic since its heavily featured in the Origin line of ships to date. And while I understand that the 300 series is now being reworked to incorporate progress made during the 600i's development once completed, along with the 890 Jump, I would've appreciated some commentary on what the developers envision they should be. Are they starter ships, or intended to be mainstays like the Cutlass is to Drake? Will the M50 and 85X eventually receive a rework too, so that their design language is updated inline with the established style? And so forth. I think CIG missed an opportunity to inspire me as an owner of Origin ships, if they felt they couldn't assuage my doubts about their progress.

I just want a good looking origin ship with fun gameplay application. Like Racing or Mining (I know mining doesn't fit origin). But I don't think transporting people or throwing partys is fun gameplay... Why would you pay someone to fly you when you can fly a crazy ship yourself? I think the origin ships will get a lot more appealing, when you can DO something with them besides showing off!

And I don't know weather that will work out that way, and so I ask myself why you would buy a the ship (without the exploration module) if not to only impress other players.
i think it would be cool if a lot of places had a dress code. So you cant just go anywhere in one suit, but you will need to have a whole wardrobe to play the whole game.
I can't help but to wonder if a luxury ship with internal gardens (i.e. Treeship like) or even a non-luxury ship with gardens (more self-sufficient/nomadic) could be a thing...?
