1943 AAF Parachute Ration Survival MRE Review Meal Ready to Eat Tasting Test Oldest Emergency Food K
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- This WW2 Parachute Ration was used on emergency bailouts and landings. Produced for less than one year, this MRE is one of the rarest. Essentially a K Ration in a can - this is a pioneering survival ration that by 1944 became the Emergency Parachute Ration. Then evolving into Food Packet Survival Arctic and Survival Tropic in 1950. Which then by 1965 was finalized into Food Packet Survival General Purpose - which is still in service to this day.
This ration cost $650. Typically they run between $700-$1,000 in this current market.

LET'S GET THIS OUT ONTO A TRAY, NICE™
NICE HISS™
I'LL BE COMING BACK AT YOU WITH SOMETHING NEW OR OLD, ALRIGHT COOL SEE YA™
“These are not going to be edible at all....still gonna try one out”
I almost feel sorry for Steve's plumbing.....
@Edd S. I'm sure Steve put all his points into constitution.
His stomach must be made of some weird metal that can withstand all manner of bacteria and poison.
"That is going to taste like fire"... Proceeds and takes a generous nibble. 🤣
Edd S. I think you mean iron stomach! 🤣😂
"I share my collection with the world." What a beautiful sentiment.
That is a beautiful way of describing his work here. Great work mate.
Definitely...great channel
Steve is a saint.
Hi Steve. My 7 year old son LOVES your reviews, he thinks you’re so cool that he begged us for his own mre rations for Christmas last year. When we took him out to the woods to open them, he tried his best to do them like you do. He gets so excited when you post a new video. We are now following you for over a year, and we love your videos. Have a great day!
Stefanie S I ate a lot of them as a kid for fun, it is a cool novelty for adults as well.
That's adorable!
now this is a nice parenting
I highly reccomend getting him Canadian rations. Most are pretty good, but if you get the Poutine I wouldn't hold my breath that it would be good. I haven't had it but poutine is literally french fries with gravy so... chip truck food doesn't translate well into a military ration.
Awwww
>if Steve were an paleontologist
"Wow, look at that, a wooly mammoth - perfectly preserved. Lemme take a quick bite out of that. "
"Let's get that out onto a tray - nice!"
@@Schmidt54 big tray*
"Oh! Ugh! That's awful! Ugh! Oh! Let's have another bite..."
Only slightly rancid.
lets get these U.S civil war rations from back in 1862 on a tray.- NICE!
"That was the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten in my life."
(sips 75 year old black lemonade)
😂 Steve does it so we don't have to
There's nothing like a 74 year old cheese block to separate the men from the boys. You Steve are the man.
Hahaha
Iam a cheese person but that would definitely give me 2nd am 3rd thoughts. Iron stomach steve
71...?
@@destinyraeloyd 75 you fools
well, compared to the pussy who only ate the 72 year old block of cheese
Steve. STEVE. You never, ever have to worry about or apologize for “wimping out”!
I’m willing to bet most of us already are saying, “Steve, no don’t eat that!” when you eat some of these items. You hear often enough how you’re the “Bob Ross of MREs” and that’s because you come across as a very good, calm, curious, sweet person and we’d rather you stay alive because the world needs more like you. ;)
When he said "that's gonna taste like fire" I really wanted him to take a nibble.
Every time I watch the videos with questionable stuff I always feel like a mother yelling at her child "Don't put that in your mouth!"
Perfectly put, Nikki ❤
I can tell when my husband is watching it in the other room due to the screams of "no! Steve!! Nooo! Why???? *hurk*"
just reminded me of "steve, don't eat it!" a fantastic series.
*tries to dissolve 70+ year old lemonade that’s hardened up, is black, and has chunks*
“that just doesn’t seem right”
LMAO!!!!
"It looks like bile."
Lmao
*proceeds to drink the whole thing*
it looked like coffee! once I saw how black it was when he opened it, I was like "no...steve no".
Steve in a restaurant: "No, what you have on your menu is too fresh. Do you have something that's 70-80 years older?"
Aheeeeeeehahahahaha
...and a tray?
@@TheWolfsnack Steve brings his own mess every time he goes out for food.
So true😂
They'll give him raw meat lol
1:55 "Wow... Look at that!"
->Snaps shut.
It was trying to protect you.
Or take a finger off.
🤣
Hahahahah
"That was the oldest cheese I've ever eaten . . . by a couple of years at least."
Lol i was thinking im lunatic, and this is my secret comment.
Sometimes cheese is aged years. Ever heard of aged Parmesan?
I am thinking he is reviewbrah and he has something to do with turks.
Because at some of his videos at the bottom left of his shelf you have Eti™ Pop Kek which is basically chocolate cake.
But Eti™ Pop Kek is a Turkish brand and only selling its contents at Turkey
Acts17Apologetics hi David
...and "these are not going to be edible...at all....still going to try one out"....
13:20 "I can't eat that! That's gonna taste like fire!" 18:35, he eats it. Never change Steve!
Are you sure your name isn't really Captain Obvious?
Never change but please don't die haha.
"No, thats not good, im not gonna eat that. Im gonna wrap that back up"
If you guys like Steve check out ua-cam.com/channels/v_vLHiWVBh_FR9vbeuiY-A.html Historia Civilis. He does battle history and it's very entertaining as well.
Dennis P.
I don't even know what he meant by "taste like fire." I don't even know what that cheese block was
Just hearing “nice” really makes my day better
As soon as you hear "let's ge-" you already know that your day will become 150% better
Nice
Just hearing your fanboyism really makes my day!
I liked the "That is fascinating. Definitely going to give that a nibble." at 4:06.
Mhm
Steve, my dad was in the AAF in the Marianas in 1944 - 46. I remember him mentioning the synthetic lemonade and the tropical chocolate. He grew up near Hershey, PA and was not a fan of the chocolate ration. He also said most guys hated the lemonade. He used to tell stories about how they got wood from B-29 parts shipping crates and built an Officers club. (the technical crews actually did finish assembly of some planes on the island) He said the Army had an armed forces radio station and a coca cola bottling plant on the island. But no ice. Allied airforce pilots flew in liquor from the States and beer from Australia but had no mixers for drinks. So apparently there was a great deal of trading between the services because the Navy had ice. Anyway he told a story about once drinking vodka mixed with iced "lemonade" in the officers club. Some guys set him up by not telling him the lemonade was spiked. He guzzled it down but didn't want to let on that he'd been fooled. "So I didn't say anything, and proceeded to read the news paper upside down." Nice. Love your videos. Miss you dad.
Great story. Thank you for sharing.

The mad lad Steve, the man with an iron stomach.
He must have literally, the best health plan in the world!
"That's 'relatively' normal" ha haha! .... Love the understated, humor. Very understated. I guess if you intend to ingest this stuff, you tend to be somewhat circumspect.. All in the name of knowledge and science. We salute you, Steve.
EVERYONE, Please help find and send Steve a properly stored old ration to review. No more of these stored in the trunk, under a raccoon nest, of the rusted out Chevy, abandoned in Southern Georgia for 40 years.
Nice.
The ones he buys are generally well stored ones. Which explains the hefty price. Perhaps if he found a frozen one from WW2 it might be completely edible.
Aye, I think the only near completely edible rations have been refrigerated/frozen
Hey hey hey. In my defense that damn raccoon had w taste for rations
Jason brilliant description
Steve is like the Steve Irwin of MRE’s. Knows his stuff, excited to do his work, very informative.
Irwin is to “You never wanna get in the water with the crocodile!” Jumps in and holds mouth closed with bare hands.
As Steve1989 is to “I’m not gonna eat that” eats stuff older that my grandma.
Much love though Steve1989, keep it up.
It's the 'do what I say, not what I do'.
Do not curse him. He is going to review a ration from the 90s that gets him in a freak accident.
My friend said he's more like the Bob Ross of MRE reviews, but I'm picking up what you're putting down.
jvfd1730
Eating like the heroes as always
6:29 chunk of black tar "Thats relatively normal." !!!For paving roads!!!
Patrick Burke lmao ifkr
$650 cup of lemonade, i assume thats your purchase price of this item, i do thank you for it, big thumbs up. Keep up the awesome work. Sir.
Whenever you upload two videos it’s always hard deciding what to watch first. But that just shows how great your content is.
I go by ration date. Oldest first.
The disappointment in that "no hiss" is heartbreaking.
11:45 "These are not gonna be edible at all...... Im still gonna try one out"
Reminds me of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. "This rattlesnake has enough venom to kill 30 blokes like me!...I'm gonna go catch it!"
16:24 i at a ration from 1984 that was more rancid. I worry about this man. I think these old mres did this to him. And we just sit back and watch. What have we done.
It's like the last time he ate that 60+ year old cheese. "I'm not gonna eat it. It will kill me. It smells so bad. Okay, maybe just a small taste." [Followed by retching noises.]
When he said I share my collection with the world. It made my day guys. All of you on here are so nice and it’s such a refreshing and calming part of my day. Thank you Steve and thank you all.
I had a pizza for lunch! What about you?
I had a 1943 AAF Parachute Ration Survival MRE for lunch.
When your lemonade is the same color as your coffee, you might want to reconsider drinking it.
LMFAO!!!!! I thought that, too!
Black Lemonade would be an awesome band name.
"Relatively normal"
Throw some saran wrap over that 70 year old lemonade.
*Wouldn't want it to go bad.*
Rag Plays. Hilarious! Love his video's. What a sport. Maybe a little daring, but a good sport. (Wouldn't want to go bad. I can't stop laughing. It's good for the soul. God bless you.

"Wouldn't want it to go bad!" Haha that's some epic snark, Rag Plays. I am still chuckling IRL
I love the vintage reviews keep up the great work Steve
I love doing the vintage reviews, and will do man! Thank you
Same. I like the old reviews for the expressions/sounds he makes when he tries the food.
"Ughhhh ohhh what is that ohhh eergghhh... Let's try one more bite... Uhhhggg arrggghhh eugghhhh."
You're a legend Steve.
I subscribed a few weeks ago to watch the emergency rations, great to see what is important to be eating in emergency situations. Ran through all them, got interested in the old stuff, now I'm into everything Steve. Here's an old, rare emergency ration... Awesome! When Steve's Bell rings, drop everything.
Thanks Steve!
Binging with Babish just used "nice hiss" when opening a jar of pickles.
I want a "let's get this on a tray... Nice" shirt
KidCorgi.Com Haha. My favourite bit too that.
omg or just a "nice!" shirt. i would buy
I want a T-Shirt that just says "NICE" on it...
I'd buy one
Hey Steve! Would you ever consider showing off some of your trinkets and stuff? When you do a full shot I always want to see the stuff you have on that shelf. I bet you have some cool things with maybe a story or two to go along with them.
Some of the stuff on his shelf is stuff from the videos he’s done.
His Frank Zappa pics are gone.
Hopefully he will open a ration museum some day that we can all go and visit
I want to know what all the letters are.
BATTERIESc 10/10 would totally pay to see that
Great review. $650.00 id a lot of money but well worth the history Steve.
Hey thanks so much Art. I am still working on your reviews. Been trying to get out for a couple camping reviews actually but it has been raining every day here in central FL for the last 2 months.
Can't wait to see them, you make quality content my friend!
Steve1989MREInfo you live in orlando????
Talk about an old expensive cheese and most people wouldn't think about an MRE.
I know, right? I hope the UA-cam residuals for this video cover the obscene cost of that disappointing ration. Then again, for the true collector price is of small importance. Just glad Steve is here, and brave enough to crack and eat what many 'MRE collectors' would simply tuck away in a display case or closet.
I think I can safely speak for all of us when I say... Thank You for sharing your collection with us. Sincerely... Thank You. I, personally, would never have known things like this existed if it wasn't for you!
I'm fascinated....and hooked!
He'll never testify, unless he's legally compelled to. He would perjure himself within the first 5 minutes is what I'm guessing. That is unless he pleads the 5th again and again and again, like his mafia buddies.

"That's gonna taste like fire" has me dying i truly love this man he is the Arnold Swartseneger of a historical food journey we will never forget. "Its rancid"
"and i share my collection with the world", yes you do Steve and we love you for it. Fantastic ration, fantastic review. Thank you :)
I know that sometimes they don’t age well but the historical rations are what I enjoy the most. Thank you for being willing to go the extra mile both in buying these expensive rations to share and being willing to try things most of us would run from.
You touched on something in this video that is part of why I ended up subscribing. As weird as your channel is, it provides a unprecedented historical value to give an accurate itemized description of every item in these kits that one day will no longer exist or not be in any recognizable condition. Thank you for sharing your collection on UA-cam!
Hearing you talk about WW2 instant coffee and how it’s got it’s own special kind of taste, you should go into the business and try and make an instant coffee that is as close to the old style... always awesome videos :) will always come back for more

Hey Steve i really enjoyed it. You always go the extra step to make these rations so much fun to watch:)
I could see this channel being like a nationwide sensation someday. It's just strange enough that if you've never seen an episode, you absolutely cannot stop watching. One million subs by 2019

Anyone else find those metal tab openers really satisfying?
I'm really glad you did not eat that bloomed cheese. Pretty sure that's a one-way ticket to ambulance town.
Correction... he did. Dear god man!
Just a nibble...
At least he was wise enough to only take a nibble. I am sure a good big bite of that would have scoured his intestines in both directions like a flash flood. :-x
Nice from canada. Btw you're the best youtuber and you seem like a genuinely nice guy
I like how the lemonade says "Synthetic". I guess making lemonade like that with those ingredients would be considered synthetic in the 1940s.
Wait till you get to lemonade making in 2018 sunshines !:P
This is country time lemonade mix! There's never been anything close to a lemon in it!
It WAS probably just citric acid. Some sort of horrible new chemistry happened to it in the meantime.
I watch far to many of these Steve. Was in a takeaway at lunchtime with three work colleagues, normally it is a grab and go, but today we had time to sit down. As I put my tray down I said "Alright let's get this onto a tray....nice!" Showed them one of your video's and we all started moving our food about. Best bit was a lad from the next table leans over and says "MRE Steve video's are the best" then his table starts the tray thing lol.
"That'll still be edible.....probably" just started watching Steve and I'm addicted.
The coffee packaging looks like a modern condom wrapper.
