"In his travels, the weedian priest Al was met with three disciples of the Sabbath know as Melvins. They shared worship of the leaf, and traded gospel of the Rifflord Iommi and his chosen Riffmaster, Pike, son of Lemmy. Celebration was had as they sang the hymn of the Bloody Sabbath. The prince of darkness heed upon them, and smiled in praise. For the word of the Sabbathan had risen once more." - The Bible of Metal, Book of Sabbath, chapter 4 verse 20
Honestly I just really started listening to Melvins last week. I’m 40. 40! How tf do u go that long without discovering the gut wrenching heavy badassness of a band like this? It’s almost like I got a gift from the music gods that was put off till I was ready. Wut a treat man. Can’t believe how good they are. Literally all I can listen to. Thank u music gods!!! Worth the wait. 🤘🏼💀🤘🏼
I'm discovering the Melvins today at 40 too. II always thought they would sound like some dorky punk band with that name so I never gave them any mind! Mind blown
Finally the ones that are worthy of covering Sabbath and know how to do it right are dropping nice little treats for us! Sleeps new album and surprise single and now this?
Great cover. Heavy metal classics and my Black Sabbath favorite. It's heaviness came to life once upon a time deep down in a Clearwell Castle dungeon. There are lot of covers out there, most of them trying to play it faster. But Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is much heavier when slowed down. Great job Melvins.
Melvins might do the best covers of songs. They never sound like the originals but they always pull it off. They have some killer Kiss and Alice Cooper covers too.
forever the best, once again a great cover of a great song from a great band by the melvins, "Melvins was the past the present and the futur of the rock'n'roll" - Kurt Cobain -
Comments complaining about slow tempo while sleep and melvins are one of this bands that you can call 'the sons of black Sabbath'. Im laughting a lot xdd
Black Sabbath are more influential than the Beatles. Without them no Nirvana, Melvins, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, or any heavy metal, doom, punk, or grunge band for that matter.
I Agree but Ozzy has said in many interviews that when he heard the Beatles, the influence was instilled to pursue music. So, if it wasn't for the Beatles, no Sabbath? I know, chicken and egg thing? Cheers friend
@@edterryberry255that was ozzy talkin about his "inspiration". Geezer or Iommi didnt say that and most probably they had different inspirational groups. Personally, i find 95% of the beatles music sounded rather silly n boring. And the vocals, ugh! All that "yeh- yeh - yeahs" we used to call them the yehyeahs
@@Itsyrm8 yeah a lot of Beatles stuff is kinda mushy but they did influence lots of great musicians including Ozzy so I'm going to pull back a bit on my comment, might have had a few pints when writing it, Cheers from Canada
@@edterryberry255 dont have to apologise , distant cousin, drink as much as y like, and be nasty too. All this politness and correctness is kindof supressing. And on 2nd tboughtsi think it might have been the beatles
Justin Teter good news buddy, on Spotify there's a whole album of sabbath covers by stoner metal bands and Sleep just so happens to have covered Snowblind. It's called Masters of Misery. Look that shit up now!

Iommic Realms/Iommian Realms
Justin Widle your grammar needs work.
Finally, a gospel we can all get behind
Actually The Melvins hate the leaf.
I was *really* fucked up when I came up with this. lol

47 and worshiped them since I seen them live in Vancouver in 1990
Same as me..
I started 9 years ago and I m 47..
It's a shame
yeah, 30 years of listening to them and I'm just beginning to understand some of the sounds i'm hearing. They keep giving.
I feel your pain. I'm in my mid-40's and I've just found the weight I've been looking for for years...
I'm discovering the Melvins today at 40 too. II always thought they would sound like some dorky punk band with that name so I never gave them any mind! Mind blown
I want a whole new album of Melvins and Al Cisneros 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
The Melvins + Al Cisneros! I think my life is complete now!
Iommic life complete

Agree 🤘
FR
Al Cisneros teaming up with the Melvins to cover Sabbath? There may be a god after all.
He hangs with the pope, on a rope, fools…….
No fucking god - but i can dig this!
He recently recorded a song with the Melvins called Sabbath which is only available on 12 vinyl for $800
Allah!
Of course there's a god, His name be Iommi. Praise him.
Dale kills it
One of the more creative Sab covers I've heard; the beat hangs back, the micro drags, the altered chorus - it's weird, but that's Melvins for ya!
OMG They Sloweed Doown Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Play at 1.25
noooo it's better sloWEED
Its awesome. They should do it to l of Master Of Reality
Koen de Gussem no.
Good nodding music, 😏
Melvins with Al Cisneros along on bass duties covering a Sabbath classic. That's hype right there!
wot?? no Electric Wizard in there?
Knew the music would slay but all the vocals have blown me away!
Finally the ones that are worthy of covering Sabbath and know how to do it right are dropping nice little treats for us! Sleeps new album and surprise single and now this?
the Dickies cover of "Paranoid" is unbeatable...i think, with confidence, King Hairdo would agree to that
They should do an album together!!!!
let it all be Sabbath covers

Nice.
Makes me wonder, has Melvins ever covered Celtic Frost? They would be good at covering CF....
Dethroned Emperor or nothing.
Procreation of the Wicked
Are you morbid?
duh throned em pear uh!
What would be the world after that
Albert Cisneroski and his Melvins
Broski
Bro! *spiderman pointing at spiderman meme*
Melvins + Al Cisneros = Damage is done!
wasn't thrilled with this at first, but now I love it.
Love this...cant wait for the vinyl. Only recently really got into the Melvins, but I'm enjoying digging through their massive discography.
Amazing cover, King Buzzo is genius.
Melvins Bloody Melvins
Melvins Sleepy Melvins
Melvins Moldy Melvins
Melvin's Sleepy, MELVIN!!!

Ladies and gentlemen the Omelvins.
Melvins and Al Cinseros covering Sabbath. The fucking holy trinity.
Listening to it at all the different speeds was interesting.
this is the most doom metal thing i ever heard in my life and i fucking love it 🤘🏻
Somehow even better than I imagined.
I chuffing love how heavy this is!
The Sabbath Force is strong here!
Skal 🍺🍺🍺🍺
The end of the main riff is so behind the beat that I get tachycardia 🤘 Badass!! \m/
Lovely cover version. Well done lads.
Melvins might do the best covers of songs. They never sound like the originals but they always pull it off. They have some killer Kiss and Alice Cooper covers too.
Halo of Flies by Melvins w/ Jello Biafra is one of my favorite recordings. Going Blind alright too.
I especially like their cover of the Who's "My Generation."
Inhales, hold it and wait for 4:04
My face is permanently contorted into madness now thanks.....
One of the greatest riffs of all time.
Hold it
now
hit it
I need more of this masterpiece
forever the best, once again a great cover of a great song from a great band by the melvins, "Melvins was the past the present and the futur of the rock'n'roll" - Kurt Cobain -

I'm literally laughing so hard

Ive been waiting waiting for melvins to do something fn badass like this for awhile i hope they do more shit with al on bass and vox.

Im laughting a lot xdd
I have a feeling Al Cisneros put most the magic into this cover. I almost gurantee he picked the tones
Because if anybody worships Sabbath its him.
they know when it's time to sloooow down. Nice cover guys!
Al Cisneros + Melvins + Perfect
Love how heavy they can get!!!
that HazeXXL cover art is effing incredible.
I think Neck Face would've designed a nice graphic as well 🙂
Tune it low, play it slow
Pretty good recipe for greatness.
and loud

Fo da chilren
Will anybody think of the children?
I had to listen to it a few times...then a gate opened in my mind...I stepped into a portal of good and evil....
Play at double the speed for King Buzzo to sound like Ozzy and for this tune to go from doom to Maiden.
What a combonation this is...Sleep / melvins..
Te parte la pera!!!!
Vamoooooo carajooooooooooo!!!!
Sickest fuckin cover ever.
SLOW AND SMOKIN HEAVY!!!
Like a 45 single version played at 33 1/3 . Weirdly awesome🤟🏻
Worship Black Sabbath
you're too good to us guys!
Beautiful
Vocals are excellent. Hadn't seen anyone mention that.
check out the brilliant version of this by "today is the day"
I really like the album art for all these AmRep singles. So I decided to look up Haze XXL.
....I didn't _MEAN_ to search for cannabis seeds!
The best sabbath cover!
HIGH-FIVE 🔥❤️
That XXL cover art though...

After listening to this 6 times, must listen to their live cover of Into The Void.
Melvins hadnt been this slow and heavy since Gluey Porch Treatments. Awesome
so good
This is sick !!
HOLY SH*T, DREAMS CAN COME TRUE
beautiful art
You should put out a standard release of this so other people can get an lp version of this, this sold out in like 2 minutes
Masterpiece 👏👏
That's melllllooooooooooh
how many other people skipped ahead to THAT part of the song?
Nice! It sounds ballsy. That’s all I wanted.
wait so melvins got together with al cisneros and im just finding out about it now?
Amazing !
1.25 it's also good!!!
Yes!
Epic 💀🖤💀
that artwork is metal as fuck
Go 1.25 speed for original tempo
Or closer to original
Ooh shit, this is fucking great!
This fucking rules!
M'AL'VINS !!! Great, but can't help thinking a Matt Pike solo would have been a perfect fit. *No offense to Buzz intended*
A Dopesmoker type solo would have made it unreal
Byron Laird I’ll take an album of Sleep Sabbath covers please. Start by recording a studio Snowblind.
Justin Teter good news buddy, on Spotify there's a whole album of sabbath covers by stoner metal bands and Sleep just so happens to have covered Snowblind. It's called Masters of Misery. Look that shit up now!
I agree. The solo deosn't serve the song so well...oh well.....
@@Esraug9012 yeah, Sleep's Snowblind is great and the concept is as simple as here - Sabbath cover. but slower.
the song starts at the end
Awesome! I fucking love those guys, man!
Ohhhh this is killer🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Still no where near the greatness of the original but as solid as a cover can get.
Its the best Sabbath cover next to Panteras planet caravan
Theres alot of throw away doom bands who ruin sabbath songs but this is top notch musicianship
Mike Koenig FNM's 'War Pigs' is up there. Like, way up there.
Kyuss - Into the void
the only problem is the drawn out overly paused, out of time accents. I blame the drummer.
🖤
if anyone in this world make this song more darker than it is.I love it BTW!
.75 speed when you're reeeeeeal high
4:01 how thrash-o-death was born
i like this
