Litton got bought out by Hearst, whose King Features Syndicate was once a media giant when its comic strips ranging from Blondie to Popeye helped sell papers. The Hearts name lives on as they still own a handful of TV stations, but the newspaper end continues a march to oblivion. Sadly, very few of their comic strips have ever been adapted into cartoons, with Popeye being the most successful.
I wish Lifton neve existed I hoping MeTV launch a 24 channel just for Toons from 50s to 90s and some days 2000s hopefully play shows like underrated like Heathcliff to really popular like Animaniacs
However if they have to mix preschool stuff play the classic stuff like Sesame Street Zoobile Zoo and Some old 80s 90s show that played on Nick Jr like Elerka’s Castle
I remember I discovered this channel back in 2022 on a random Saturday morning, I would just flippin channels & saw Tom and Jerry, so I clicked on it & I was instantly hooked. Like you said, this channel is basically what Boomerang used to be With the airing of classic show but what makes me like this more is unlike Boomerang, who just plays the same shows over and over again. This show actually airs EVERYTHING, from WB, Hannah-Barbara, MGM even Tex Avery, Hell, it's even showing stuff that I never saw even as a kid. I just really love this channel because it gives you that old feeling of actually being a kid watching Saturday Morning Cartoons & The Toon In With Me stuff is charmingly entertaining. I really hope this channel lasts a long time along with adding more shows like you said

Don't forget anime. Televisa's Canal 5 and TV Azteca's Azteca 7 was where many of us got our first taste of anime like DragonBall (original, Z and GT), Sailor Moon, Candy Candy, Captain Tsubasa, Ranma 1/2, Pokémon, Saint Seiya, and the list goes on and on.

I agree that I think the Saturday morning block is too short and don't understand why it ends at 10 in the morning when many years ago they ended significantly later. I would definitely appreciate if MeTV had a spinoff channel that aired cartoons 24/7, since their current blocks are just too early in the morning for me on most days. While they're at it, I would really love to see some classic anime shows added to that 24/7 cartoon channel, such as Speed Racer, Astro Boy, Voltron, and Sherlock Hound.
They are not very respected by the other networks but people who know their stuff knew how big this was and why the fact it only a matter of time till the block got a spinoff channel. I am so glad this was a success! Great video!

When MeTV reintroduced the classics in these new blocks, it felt like your choldhood was back once again. No doubt they'll do a spinofff channel of classic animated shows if the fans and business want it.

My only downside with it is that it's not HD in my area unless i get Frndly TV, fortunately my TV has frame rate matching so it smooths out like at the movie theater. (not to be confused with the TruMotion effect).
The e/I law of 2004 needs to be repealed. Its at a point it screws up shows at times. How did save by the bell get e/I as it never was when it aired in the late 80s early 90s. The e/I block today even goofed up pbs.
I agree with you there, society standards and norms have changed over the years. Not only that, educational content can be viewed anytime on PBS or better yet, online. No reason to make other networks suffer for it.
It's strange to me. Cartoon Network used to run all these, in fact, Turner Networks used to own the entire Hanna-Barbera catalog and then some reason stopped running the good stuff. For years, well over a full decade, they made bank off of shows like Voltron, Robotech, Jonny Quest, Speed Racer, in fact, most of what METV Toons plans to run now. Then, over time, they fell to the trap of just rerunning the same tired old Teen Titans Go episode over, and over, and over again. Now they're a failing channel. I just hope METV Toons doesn't fall into that same trap. Just buy up catalogs,, run stuff, rotate out shows as needed to keep the line-up fresh. They're running Speed Racer and Marine Boy, so there's hope for a Japanese anime block on there, and a willingness to run shows from the late 1950s to the early 2000s-era. Between both the western and Japanese catalogs, there is a lot of stuff out there that can be gotten onto the channel.
Im not sure if they should add these to the consistent lineup due to time but considering they got Woody Woodpecker I feel like it should be said that Universal has a few other cartoon libraries to their name like UPA, Felix The Cat, and I think Casper so... Also if they have a MeToons channel and have to air educational programming maybe they could do some older educational programming like I know it isnt a cartoon but maybe something like Mr Rogers and if we're willing to go into like the 90's Magic School Bus

The best way to reform would be the networks airing 2 hrs. of E/I programming a week, while the affiliates air an hour of it, mandated. Prohibition in this kind of programming has caused more problems than solutions, nowadays!!!
Could this mean the grand comeback of Saturday Morning blocks? Also the FCC's guidelines are extremely dated and not relevant to today's society standards and norms. It's a shame, since the main reason why cable was introduced in the 60's was for people who had trouble with reception or lived in the countryside/desert too far away from a transmitter.

I'm also questioning why they didn't include Hong Kong Phooey, it's one of the more iconic shows from HB rather than Secret Squirrel (but I like both)

I think its a little too new to air on MeTV. I could definitely see it on Qubo, but sadly the channel shut down in 2021

And don’t forget Discovery Family, they ran “Looney Tunes” at 1PM every weekday. They ran vintage WB cartoons that MeTV ran at the time.

These classic cartoon shows are actually for everyone- keep in mind, a large number of adults have tuned in for MeTV's Saturday morning cartoon block. I can possibly see Terrytoons being added in the future!!!
I'm 70 years old and METV is 90% of what I watch. 😁 The old GOOD shows and the cartoons are my reason for watching

It's a shame, since the main reason why cable was introduced in the 60's was for people who had trouble with reception or lived in the countryside/desert too far away from a transmitter.

@@davidmitchell3020 for all of about 2 seconds then I would be spending the the rest of my time playing " antenna tag" with everyone trying to watch their programs - if that's the kind of earth you want you're welcome to it - I put my TV on to watch shows in their entirety not to be at the "mercy" of others - cable allows me that right
