I would really like this to become the TCM of old school cartoons. Cause i think having TCM like discussions on these characters is great not only for adults, but for kids to maybe take an interest in animation
Glad to see it. I wonder if they could put some these some these on their other channels. I would love to see a cartoon block of Superfriends on their Heroes & Icons channel. They could include this and other sci-fi/superhero/action-themed cartoons that they already have access to . They would be great for those of us that don't get MeTV toons and they can get more out their investment.
MeTv Toons has been awesome! I caught Freakazoid! by mistake at like 1 in the morning the other day, then a full hour of Captain Planet on a Saturday morning! Reminds me of my childhood! I love it!
I haven't turned off MeTV Toons since it launched. I'm laughing all over again like I did as a kid. It's the best thing to happen to TV in a long time!

Been watching MeTV Toons a lot in the last week or so. Lemme tell you, I was SO excited when Beetlejuice popped on tv the other day, it transported me back to being 6 years old and sneaking in an episode before going to school.
It’s so odd the only three ways to get it right now is Philo TV, Frndly TV, and using the over-the-air antenna. I hope they’ll eventually get to Spectrum, Comcast, Dish, etc.
My niece loves watching MeTV toons, she’d wake up for school and be sitting in front of the TV glued to it and after school and done with homework she’s glued to it LOL. Fantastic interview.

Everyone laughed at me for keeping my old black square antenna. Coming in clutch now! Being in AZ, a lot of the ones I'd like to watch are on very early(ghostbusters, beetlejuice, captain planet mainly) but the many I can watch were a staple of my upbringing(Bullwinkle, looney tunes, underdog, jetsons flintstones etc) thanks for the video updates!

And the 80s block could definitely go for some Care bears, some rainbow Brite, and let's not forget the claymation representation we need Gumby and Wallace and gromit for sure

Ha ha, yeah, every cartoon has different prices, so I imagined the Spielberg ones are a lot. Freakazoid probably gets by cause it's shorter and more of a cult show. But yeah, he shared a lot more behind the scenes than I was expecting, and was totally fine with me sharing that info with you. I was literally fascinated learning what it takes to run a classic TV station.

The main thing I want from the Hannah Barbara library is "The Quick Draw Mcgraw Show". One of my favorites as a kid watching reruns was El Kabong. I know it's a mess but I've wanted this back for years. NO DVDs or anything ever came out

I*'m intrigued and delighted that so much of the early H-B library is going to be restored for the channel. Has Neal said anything if WB is going to restore their theatrical shorts? The MeTV copies of some of the Popeye and MGM shorts could really benefit from new updated scans.

The thumbnail for this video made me really curious so I truly had to see it. Your videos are always fantastic and I truly do need to make more time for them myself but I must confess that my life is very busy right now so I have missed a few of them but always glad to come back when I have time. Oh man Metv is doing so great and I simply can’t wait to look it up in the fall. My Summer schedule is way over booked so I’m putting it off until the fall but it’s definitely a Chanel that I want to see. Also it’s just a true treat to know that the guy from the channel is so friendly and upbeat and he loves cartoons so much and he even would like to have Disney and he values those older cartoons from Disney for what they are and not what they are associated with. Truly a fantastic announcement and it’s really nice to hear about what they are doing for Bugs Bunny and Scooby-doo who truly deserve as much love as possible and even more so!
Great content! Glad to hear there’s a long term plan. There’s now almost 100 years worth of animation content to air. There are pros and cons for running original production cartoons, but I’d just as soon see the Toon channel do for classic cartoons what Catchy does for comedy, and H&I does for action shows. If it’s just 20th century cartoons for now that’s fine by me. Been enjoying the network, though. I’ve seen some shorts that I’d either never seen before, or not in almost 40 years.

I imagine one of the hardest cartoons to get would be the Hanna-Barbera Fantastic Four cartoon. Imagine having to get both Warner Bros. and Disney to the negotiation table.

That was awesome! I love METV Toons. When I seen the real Ghostbusters opening for the first time again on live tv since I was little, it hit some nostalgic heartstrings like I wasn’t expecting! I’m excited to see how this channel continues to grow!

i gotta tell you guys MeTV TOONS is absolutely fanFUCKINtastic. next door neighbor was throwin out a tv the other day, i took it off her hands and i went n bought one of those antennas from walgreens real cheap. i can watch all kinds of stuff, things i've seen a million times, things ive seen very little of, and stuff i had no idea existed.. like the absolutely awful police academy series, or this strange underwater anime called Marine Boy, and there's these puppets they air at night. if there's anything i'd like more of it's probably woody woodpecker and popeye. i remember cartoon network in the mid 90s and they've mixed in quite a few classics with some truly forgotten gems and oddities. literal perfection
I enjoyed METV Toons so far! As a Gen-X, it's brought back lots on memories. Watching these cartoons before and after school. Even Saturday morning! Thanks!
I love it. I have missed this whole idea. We didnt have internet or cable and there really wasnt anything on antenna for my kids to watch i used to sit and think how much i missed Saturday morning cartoons and wanted my kids to have that and i felt shitty.
I still hope this channel can become available over the air in the Raleigh area soon. I may be in my 20s but I have an appreciation for and enjoy classic cartoons.
We are desperate for this in Canada. There are absolutely No cartoons older than 1990 anywhere on Canadian TV or streaming. They shut down our Teletoon Retro in 2015 and there’s been nothing on Canadian TV since. Please help! 😢

It's kinda cool that MeTV Toons was able to some obscure toons on their line up. 'Challenge Of The Gobots' was one of the few Hanna-Barbera cartoons that NEVER aired on Cartoon Network. One obscure cartoon I'd like to see would be 'Bionic Six' An underrated show from the 80's that's NEVER gotten A home video release.
Now if we only had three separate channels for Eastern anime that were done in the same principle as MeTV Toons, one for kids, one that is for action series, and one for adults, then that would be great. Also, if MeTV Toons will not make new programs, then they should make a new station for making first run cartoons as well...and maybe even revive cartoons that honestly needed more of a chance like, say, Thundarr the Barbarian, The Pirates of Dark Water, etc.
old school on old school is cool because it doesn't leave behind a huge audience of people that, while not as big as some demos, still exist and still want to watch cartoons

I am Mexican born and raised in Mexico City and i am NOT offended in any way, shape or form by Go Go Gomez of Dick Tracy, censorship is ridiculous i was so exited to have a Mexican Cop working with Tracy and now you are taking him away?
Also, for the cartoons that have racial stereotypes do what Disney+ and old home videos dvds did. Just put a message before the cartoon airs saying these are not ok today, and that they are being shown for historical value.

Great interview Andre!!! Hey Neal-if you read this...PLEASE get the 80s/90s Pound Puppies TV series. I loved that showed as a kid and it holds a special place in my heart to this day.

This interview was wonderful, the topics were great. You always ask great questions. I haven't seen a lot of the cartoons that he mentioned.
I imagine one of the hardest cartoons to get would be the Hanna-Barbera Fantastic Four cartoon. Imagine having to get both Warner Bros. and Disney to the negotiation table.
I actually put up an outdoor Antenna to get this channel. Love MeTV.
i cant wait for this.. amazing vid Andre. and awesome to see Neal Sabin giving us all of this info, superfriends was a fantastic drop, but the mention of benie and ceicle absolutely blew my mind, i used to sneak out to the living room very early in the morning to watch it when i was 3/4 years old
That was awesome! I love METV Toons. When I seen the real Ghostbusters opening for the first time again on live tv since I was little, it hit some nostalgic heartstrings like I wasn’t expecting! I’m excited to see how this channel continues to grow!
Amazing. Too bad that didn't talked about Felix the Cat. I hope that Felix comes in MeTV Toons someday since DreamWorks/Universal has ownership of Felix.
i gotta tell you guys MeTV TOONS is absolutely fanFUCKINtastic. next door neighbor was throwin out a tv the other day, i took it off her hands and i went n bought one of those antennas from walgreens real cheap. i can watch all kinds of stuff, things i've seen a million times, things ive seen very little of, and stuff i had no idea existed.. like the absolutely awful police academy series, or this strange underwater anime called Marine Boy, and there's these puppets they air at night. if there's anything i'd like more of it's probably woody woodpecker and popeye. i remember cartoon network in the mid 90s and they've mixed in quite a few classics with some truly forgotten gems and oddities. literal perfection

The preservation of these classics with fresh eyes on them is so important that I hope this success stays for them.
I love it. I have missed this whole idea. We didnt have internet or cable and there really wasnt anything on antenna for my kids to watch i used to sit and think how much i missed Saturday morning cartoons and wanted my kids to have that and i felt shitty.
I still hope this channel can become available over the air in the Raleigh area soon. I may be in my 20s but I have an appreciation for and enjoy classic cartoons.
We are desperate for this in Canada. There are absolutely No cartoons older than 1990 anywhere on Canadian TV or streaming. They shut down our Teletoon Retro in 2015 and there’s been nothing on Canadian TV since. Please help! 😢

It's kinda cool that MeTV Toons was able to some obscure toons on their line up. 'Challenge Of The Gobots' was one of the few Hanna-Barbera cartoons that NEVER aired on Cartoon Network. One obscure cartoon I'd like to see would be 'Bionic Six' An underrated show from the 80's that's NEVER gotten A home video release.
Don't forget to bring sliverhawks " swampthing" the pirates of dark water " thunder the barbarian

Now if we only had three separate channels for Eastern anime that were done in the same principle as MeTV Toons, one for kids, one that is for action series, and one for adults, then that would be great. Also, if MeTV Toons will not make new programs, then they should make a new station for making first run cartoons as well...and maybe even revive cartoons that honestly needed more of a chance like, say, Thundarr the Barbarian, The Pirates of Dark Water, etc.
I will be asking UA-camTV nonstop to add MeTV and MeTV Toons until they do. Although, I am enjoying watching the channel on Frndly!

old school on old school is cool because it doesn't leave behind a huge audience of people that, while not as big as some demos, still exist and still want to watch cartoons

Also, for the cartoons that have racial stereotypes do what Disney+ and old home videos dvds did. Just put a message before the cartoon airs saying these are not ok today, and that they are being shown for historical value.
