46 might seem a little low but considering that I've seen hundreds of asian movies and the fact that I have a slight bias towards older movies, I think 46 is a pretty good spot for it. But I do agree that it is really enjoyable and has massive rewatch value
Nice selection. last Life in the Universe is also one of my most favourite movies. We seem to have similar tastes. I enjoyed Made in Hong Kong. I'm looking forward to discovering other movies from this list!
I still have a DVD of Last Life in the Universe, I wish it got a blu ray and a criterion collection blu ray at that. And Invisible Waves is another good and loosely related to Last Life in the Universe if I remember correctly, Shoplifters is excellent as well A lot of great movies but I haven't seen Little Forest: Summer/Autumn but I'll definitely look it up

Hi, I'm trying to find a movie. Maybe this is a good place to ask? It was on netflix, but it was removed v quickly. It's about rebellious youths... mainly about two brothers. They have a father who's a police officer. The two boys are often truant from school. I think the movie starts with a group of youths trashing a mans yellow sports car. Movie made in late 70s or early to mid 80s. Local cop called king kong hates the two brothers. One of the brothers tries to escape from king kong after they trash a local supermarket & out of desperation one brother grabs a bottle & smashes it & points it toward king kong. King kong shoots him dead on the spot. The other brother finds a Vietnamese girlfriend, but king kong wants her deported, she must be an illegal immigrant? Movie ends with the surviving brother taking on king kong in a shopping mall. The surviving brother tries to mow king kong down in a car (yes, the kid is driving a car in the mall) This is killing me. I've looked for months trying to find this movie. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
A really wonderful list. I don't know what it is, but the only movies I seem to want to watch are from Japan and Korea. I'm glad you included Maborosi, it's one of my favorite films, I think it was koreeda's first movie, but I have to ask, how could you have forgotten about Drive My Car?
I could watch only Asian cinema for the rest of my days and be very happy about it I have too many favourites to name but I love the work of Takashi Miike, Akira Kurosawa, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, John Woo, Park Chan Wook, Wong Kar Wai, Bong Joon Ho, Shinya Tsukamoto, and basically anything with samurai, serial killers, twisted psychology or heroic bloodshed 😊 Amazing list. Got a bunch of new titles I’m going to check out 😊
Please give me your top movies? Its hard to find a guy who likes Asian films. A lot of articles and reviews are by women, which don't like the same genres as me. You do! Please, please, please reply with your list of movies for me to watch. I like the genres you selected too

I've seen that one twice. The story was told in such an intereting way and Failan was such a heartbreaking character. If I make a part 2 to this video then I'd definitely add failan to that list.
I watched this movie once and i forgot the name of it.... It's plot is something like there's this groups of friends who are trying to save up money to leave their town/village and go to india or something... There was a yakuza or something... Even a scene about a ghost...and definitely a home project made rocket at the end of the movie... It's Japanese, or it could be south korean film.... Og gow i wish i can see that one again...
Personally I'm not the biggest Shinya Tsukamoto fan (I only really likes tokyo fist and bullet ballet). Also, I mentioned in the description that this is a list of movies after 1980 and that I'll be making a seperate list for the old gems.
I actually really enjoyed In the mood for love and think the Cambodia sequence is one of the greatest scenes in cinema history but when I was making this video I hadn't seen it in almost a decade and it didn't leave that much of an impression on me the first time. If I was to make this video today there would be a lot of changes. In the same time, I do wonder why people drop comments like this when the title says "My" favourite asian movies not the "absolute and universal top asian films" lol.
Hi...Im trying to find a movie. Im only certain that it was Asian and that the first scene was very impactful, it was a cloae up of a very cluttered, very messy and disgusting flat someone lived in. I may be wrong but the whole movie may have been a little distopian. Saw it 10 years ago (not in the cinema). Help?
Better days at number 46 is very underrated. It is one of the best movies I've ever seen.
Couldn't agree with you more : ) I have rewatched it several times already.

Great list! Here are some of my suggestions you may also like:
Afterlife (1998)
Confessions (2010)
Like father, like son
Bad genius
Thanks. I've seen those ones too, confessions is actually one of my first Japanese movies.
Brilliant compilation. I've seen less than half of these, but of the ones I've seen, many are in my favourites list. Great job!
Thank you. East Asian cinema is filled with gems.
Old boy and parasite is also good
More suggestions plz🥺
Watched some of these movies they were incredible❤

Memories of murder actually better than parasite based on my opinion after wathcing both of them
it is it is. the difference is that there is depth in parasite while the later is very engrossing and mysterious.
lottle forest would be my top 5

Thanx for the video send some more plz❤
Thanks for watching. I plan on making a second part to this video soon.

Why isn't oldboy in the list

Oldboy

It would be better to add "east" before "asian", cause the title is misleading.
The number one pick, "Last life in the universe" is from Thailand so I can't do that.
