Bailey Clawsonn i would recommend this movies if you haven’t watched them: The fly (1986), the game (1997), the butterfly effect (2004), children of heaven (1997), rope (1948) and the others (2001).
I prefer the shot after Hector toasts his friend who just died and puts the glass back on the table. It’s a really important image as it shows the duality of the themes of the movie. On one hand, you have the beautiful juxtaposition of the empty and overturned shot glass with the full and upright glass to show both the living and the dead; the glass that will never be drank from again. On the other hand, you have foreshadowing of Hector drinking the shot while the other glass stays full which is what had killed him in the first place.
Some of them are real easy to guess because they include easily identifiable characters, items, or art styles, but a lot of them are just really well-shot.
I like that you even included animation, many people overlook animation in cinema, but some of the most beautiful and visually stunning movies I've ever seen are animated ones.
@@notjeff7833 Well, I mean, that fits thematically with the show, but I was thinking more about the Disney classics, the forgotten 2D animated classics like The Thief And The Cobbler, the underrated animes like Perfect Blue or Colorful, the beautifully abstract european masterpieces, the lackluster but sometimes fantastic shots of 3D animation, and of course Studio Ghibli. Animation goes overboard as much as live-action goes bland, but that doesn't mean either of them lack good cinematography in their works.

My favourite shot in nearly any movie is in The Truman show when Truman reaches his hand out and touches the sky after his ordeal in the storm, which is obviously just fake so his hand create a shadow on it, amazing.
There's something so special about this video that makes it rewatching every now and then. From the perfected clunks of colors of each shot as they transition like a painting to the next iconic shot. The song is beautiful. The editing is perfection and you can see this from Enter The Void to Birdman. When the camera feels so light in ETV and then we heavily transition to a man as he moves heavy through the same kind of establishment. And then the pulp fiction scene when you drag it on for a second and the car parks at the perfect beat end. And then putting that sprawling beach scene from Tree Of Life to The Master will always give me chills. And then the transition to Blade Runner and Fight Club made a sense of connected nostalgia. Man, easily the best video on film on UA-cam. And it's not even over a recording of some film student. But it's letting a perfect song and a handful of shots do the best thing film can ever do. Continue rolling.
Cinema involves music, audio design, visual art, literature, a representation of the entire spectrum of human emotions and actions, art of photography and technical application (direction, editing, visual effects, cinematography) and is surrounded by a whole economical system that busies itself with distribution, marketing and expansion. It‘s the perfect sphere of human endeavor to present what kind of beauty and greatness our species is capable of creating.
you know why this is just utterly beautiful? because there is no plot, no characters, no conflict, just beautiful shots over and over again. you might recognize some, but not all. and you are left just simply staring, and enjoying.

The reason there aren’t from Ballerina because there are countless good shots in that movie and it’s not enough to show one shot so they decided to upload the entire movie in a video and then that video got taken down by UA-cam so they deleted the entire video and uploaded this video which it don’t have any ballerina clips so this one won’t get taken down
I put this on my UA-cam likes around 6 years ago when I was serving in the marine corps. I was a lost kid who never considered himself artistic in any way. I am not watching this for the first time as a film student. Moral of the story is that life is a wild ride and this video is beautifully inspiring.
Idk why but I've always absolutely loved the shots of the red and orange burning sunset with the silhouette/s of people. Everytime I see one, no matter how many times I've seen it before , I think they are the most beautiful things ever. I also really love the shots of white backgrounds with something colored as the focus.
Paper Boi and sometimes the movie and the people behind it fail at that goal of powerful expression or evoking any meaningful reaction from its audience. So yes, there is such a thing as a boring movie. Boring is completely subjective but There are countless examples of boring movies.
Whenever I'm in need of reminding about why film is such an important and special medium, I always find myself returning back to this one video. As I grow older and find myself coming back to this one video again and again, I find more movies that I've seen in here, some of which have become among my favorites of all time. However, I also found that the more I come back to this video the more it manages to increase my appreciation for film as a whole.
Love it, but I prefer the moment the ship pierces the exterior wall. (The Truman Show remains one of the greatest under-appreciated masterworks in the history of cinema.)

The scene in 1917 where he is running through the town with the lights should be added to this list. Also I KNOW this vid was created a while ago, I was just saying in the grand scheme of things I think 1917 has one of the most beautiful shots ever takin in a movie.
Just, start from when it pans from him touching the back of his head out the window, all the way to when he lands in the river. The framing of that archway, the music, the dawn slowly creeping up... 1917 is so amazing and I'm so beyond disappointed it didn't get the Best Picture Oscar.
@@snowangel7980 If it's good looking and have a nice soundtrack it does not mean it must win the oscar in fact it won best cinematography wich is awesome because of the amazing work that was put in the movie, especially in that scene you pointed out.

And be aware, your immature ignorant incel is showing... But anyways are you sure you don’t like anime, wow you’re missing out, you should try it sometime.
videos like this make me so happy that im pursuing filmmaking in college.. like i love movies so much its amazing how we can create works of art like this.
Shots that should have been included. 1:Maria singing in the mountains in “The Sound of Music” 2: Shot from “Elizabeth” where Cate Blanchett is standing in a valley when she becomes the Queen 3. Mufasa’s appearing to Simba in the clouds 4. Forrest and Jenny hugging in front of the Washington monument 5. Literally any scene in a Wes Anderson movie
I thought the same. I also feel that longer/moving shots tend to outdo still shots but then the video would have to be a lot longer as well to include them. Film is about motion after all.

If people limit themselves to American movies, it's their loss.
The cinematography doesn't ameliorate by CGI or any special effects. It is enhanced by the intellegence of the director and artist. Space odyssey, StarWars, was released in the 60s and 70s. In my perspective, Most 2010s movies are not as iconic as a 20th-century movie.
Every single one of these is beautiful. Incredible, really. There’s so many more that aren’t even here! And who knows… maybe the most beautiful shot in cinema has yet to be filmed. Ruth YES oh my goodness YESSSS

Yes! That’s a very iconic one
Couldn’t agree more. Such a great scene
truly unique and iconic film

@Hello Again Why bring ethnicity into this? Am not white but can't someone appreciate art for what it's worth?
Cinema involves music, audio design, visual art, literature, a representation of the entire spectrum of human emotions and actions, art of photography and technical application (direction, editing, visual effects, cinematography) and is surrounded by a whole economical system that busies itself with distribution, marketing and expansion. It‘s the perfect sphere of human endeavor to present what kind of beauty and greatness our species is capable of creating.

I think science is more appropriate, i mean science progress is the reason we're all still here now and in it's way is the first art
It makes me so happy that horror and animated movies are included since they're seriously under appreciated
Yeah but animated movies don't contains shots. Do people not know what the word shot means?

True
They’d have to post all movies in one video

Armando Carballes there is no such thing as a “boring movie” a movie is there to touch one’s soul or express the creator’s feelings
Paper Boi and sometimes the movie and the people behind it fail at that goal of powerful expression or evoking any meaningful reaction from its audience. So yes, there is such a thing as a boring movie. Boring is completely subjective but There are countless examples of boring movies.

However, I also found that the more I come back to this video the more it manages to increase my appreciation for film as a whole.

Joker sticking his head out of a cop car whilst getting chased should be in this video. Beautiful shot

Salman Mehmood ..
Best image ever of the Joker ever....ever.

but The Fall made it in so that’s cool

I really thought Interstellar would be in there ..
weston407 Right?! As soon as I saw the title for the video I thought “it better have The Fall or it’s not valid.” That movie is beautiful.

It's an awesome song. Just... Read the lyrics carefully. It might not mean what you think it means. (or maybe you got it right away)

At least that is my guess. Still a good song though.
Glad to have found this channel. Just wanted to comment that the music selection is as stunning as the visuals! Great job!
Love the fact that there are animations in here. Honestly the scene from Mulan is such a mind fuck

Does nobody know what the word shot means? Here are the relevant definitions:
a photograph.
a film sequence photographed continuously by one camera.
the range of a camera's view.
Explain how animations fit into this? You think animated movies are captured with cameras?

The black hole scene from Interstellar really should've been in here. It's not only an amazing scene but also one of the best depictions of what a black hole would look like if we could properly see one.
Up is down scene from PotC 3
I haven't seen this video in years, I remember everyday after school in middle school just coming home and watching this video over and over again its so captivating, this video changed so much for me how I wanted to perceive the world and randomly it just showed up on my feed.

The selection of scenes is not important, can we all agree this video was well done? Sub
People keep complaining about how their favourite movie isnt in the list and they forgot the effort that was put into this
The problem here is the movie selection, I think the alternative of this video could be : "The most beautiful shots in movie history but mostly in america, and a few other ones but we don't care cause it's not from the country that haven't invented it..."
@@unwz2485 This. Usually, when an American says something is "the best in history", they actually mean the history of the US. And frankly I am a bit sick of that.
@@AsatorIV Can you tell me any movie scene that they should've included? Most people only watch US american movies, thus the selection. They did good in any way
@@wotmate3719 Oh, absolutely. I'm not gonna name individual scenes, just the movies. Just from the top of my head:
anything by Andrey Tarkovski (Russia), El laberinto del Fauno (Spain), Amélie (France), La grande bellezza or Youth by Paolo Sorrentino (Italy), In Brugges (UK), Children of Men (UK), Ida (Poland), Melancholia or Antichrist (Denmark), Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (South Korea), a lot of movies by Emir Kusturica (Yugoslavia), Loners and a ton of Czech animated movies, a lot of stuff from Gaspar Noe (Argentina), Amores Perros (Mexico), Lola rennt (Germany) etc. I could go on. If people limit themselves to American movies, it's their loss.
I’m glad this channel sees animated movies as being a part of film regardless if it’s animated or not…..
The fact that interstellar or inception isn’t here really makes me sad
BaerliderFuchs i was thinking the whole time where’s interstellar?
Yeah Inception
What Dreams May Come, too.
Interstellar Black Hole shoulda been there for sure
Hmmm all shots must be 0 cgi?
It’s 2020 and with the advancement in filmography, we need an updated version of this!
@Rachel Meniboon I just made an updated version of this!
Bit of an overstatement when the shot from Barry Lyndon is still the most incredible and it's 50 years old.
The cinematography doesn't ameliorate by CGI or any special effects. It is enhanced by the intellegence of the director and artist. Space odyssey, StarWars, was released in the 60s and 70s. In my perspective, Most 2010s movies are not as iconic as a 20th-century movie.
I’m amazed that none of the LOTR scenes made it in. Those movies had some incredible shots
Agreed
Was looking for this comment
Where was the scene in Two Towers where Gandalf rode down the hill towards Helm's Deep?

Every single one of these is beautiful. Incredible, really. There’s so many more that aren’t even here! And who knows… maybe the most beautiful shot in cinema has yet to be filmed. Maybe it’ll be this year… or the next. Maybe ten years! Maybe it’ll be shot by me, or you. Someone we’ve heard of, someone unknown. Who knows what cinema will bring us over the next decade. But from what I’ve seen from this video, and some of the masterpieces from the last few years… cinema isn’t dead.
The music was perfect and showing anything from Moon makes me want to watch the movie all over again
